I assumed that if you were going to make a whole video for just this one battle you would have used a strategy that allows you to not get pinned and beat up. I beat this game without cheats, too, just not when making this video. The whole point was just to show how I battle Shredder, not how I can beat the game without cheating. If you want me to upload a playthrough then just tell me and I'll get recording.
This game had some truly tough and long-ass boss fights. Shogun, Krang and Shredder particularly....especially when you beat it from scratch. Honestly, the first time I beat this game, I was 7 and felt like I accomplished something huge in the world. That's the beauty of tough NES games. Nowadays? forget about it. I'd get my ass kicked.

You used the 10 lives and level select cheat didn't you? I wouldn't blame you for doing it. the NES TMNT II game is fucking insane to beat no cheating(still really insane to beat even if you do!).

There are 2 Shreddies (hehe, Shreddy) because that's part of his scripted attack. One's a hologram, one is the real deal. The trick is to find the real one and take him out, OR destroy the hologram enough times so that his jewel thingy runs out of power, making him unable to create more holograms. Each time you destroy the hologram, another one is created, so doing it that way can take a while. Thank you for your comments on my videos, by the way. Make sure to check out my Startropics ones =).
I used to have TMNT 2 and i liked it better than TMNT 3. I remember shredder now and his hologram. I did make it that far and i did defeat shredder, once and only once. Got rid of my NES and that was a mistake because i miss it.

At the title screen (where you select 1 turtle or 2 turtles), punch in B A B A UP DOWN B A LEFT RIGHT B A START (if you want it on two player, press select first). Ok ^^. I'm just don't like cheating so I didn't know that you could cheat on NES games without the "Game Genie". I understand that you didn't play through it for posting it here, but I thought I saw a remark you did below on the comments suggesting that you did.
But, not dissing you in anyway, I don't you fit under that description. I borrowed this game from a friend 1 month ago, and I got through the whole game the third try without loosing any life until shredder (Always died on that bastard, couldn't figure out how to beat him :) ).
The strategy I use (as shown in the video) is to take out the clone's helmet first. There are two reasons for this. One, to find out which one is the real Shredder, and two, so he can't use the unmutation beam (the 1 hit kill thing). When you get to the real Shredder, corner him and just go all out on him. When the clone comes and tries to help out, do what I do in the vid, jump a bit towards the clone, making him back away, and kicking the real one.
This is a truly great game. I hated that Shredder could kill you instantly with that damn anti-mutation beam thing. You use up all your lives because you have to fight Krang just before,and he is tough as hell.
Yeah, I'm just lucky he didn't get me with that beam here, and Krang only took 2 of my lives. I grew up with this game, so I got really pro at it ^_^.
Holy crap, I haven't played this since I was like, 6! (just over 13 years!) Brings back so many memories...thank God for emulators and thank YOU for putting up the vids and showing how it's done! 5/5!

It's easy to beat Shreadder. go to a corner of the screen and jump until him or his clone are stuck against the wall, then do the move at 0:43-0:45.
