  • Soloist = yikes! It was like if Celine Deion were to perform Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise.

  • wheres baba jetu

  • Amazing video im playing the same thing in my band except its the medley with halo this and kingdom hearts and I think this is amazing except it sounds alot better without the main dude

  • Whats funny is i did the same solo in buffalo, and shockingly was called to do it for the LIve PBS recording in New Orelans, LA along side the orginal singer! Amazing!

  • The soloist was a let down :(

  • no offense intended but was the soloist ill or something?

  • the main singer sounds nasal...

  • I'd say the soloist was rushing it.

  • he has trouble getting over the orchestra

  • lol the tenor solo didn't need a book in the Calgary concert.. lol hes actually supposed to memorize it he shouldn't have a book

  • my orchestra is doing the entire video games suite... Full orchestra and we are getting the choir and the a capella groups to sing in it

  • It's better WITHOUT vocals imo.

  • Its better without lousy vocals.

Make sure your vocals know how to sing instead of just "getting notes right"

  • we are too but this music doesnt match w/ the arrangements do you know where i can find an mp3 or some thing?

  • My choir did Baba Yetu for the Honors Concert recently. They did badly. They sang it as a love song since it was around Valentine's day...

  • our HS band played this song last year

(just instrumental, and no string instruments though)

  • We're playing it in our senior band. No vocals, just the piece. I love it <3

  • love this song. amazing, 5 stars

  • wow

  • that was so amazing...

other than the tenor solo, that was weak :[

  • I know, bloody horrible. Why do tenors yell when they sing high?

  • The original work was sung in a much more folky style, the solo was quite "yelly" and it worked very well with the original singers.

It's hard to duplicate that sound, it takes a special singer to pull it off.

  • the CPO in Calgary did awesome

  • shutup.

  • wow, a lot of bands have played this haven't they? Our band did recently, also. The whole guy singing in the beginning was done played by me nd my friend on trombone.

  • the halo and civilization IV pieces are pretty easy compared to kingdom hearts. in order to easily play halo you need to listen to how it sounds first. my personal favorite is civilization IV with its baritone solo of baba yetu ~being a first chair baritoner~ :]

  • I have to play this with my band too. Its pretty easy but the Halo one was hard... kingdom hearts too.

  • yeah ...i know ..

    wat insterment do u play??

  • I play the clarinet u?

  • flute!!!

  • Add me?

  • ok i will

  • i play the piano, does that count?

  • its a cool piece ...my band is playing it but it needs to be taken slower..

  • horable solo

  • weak lead vocals.

  • i quite agree

the video games live in Calgary that i went to, was much better

  • This song should be taken a lot slower.. it can have a far greater impact that way.. i heard another recording this song and it touched me.. this on the other hand is bland.. the conducting and direction sucks

  • Please never insult that conductor ever again.

you should be put away for a very long time just for saying that

    he's an amazing conductor

  • This condector really isn't nearly good as you seem to think he is

  • The guy writes and directs music for a living, and usually for games; if you've played any major game in the last 10 years at least, you've heard his work, and it's him that does most conducting for Every VGL: hearing it from a recording and hearing it live (and I have) makes a World of difference. If you've been to one, ok, his style isn't your thing, but if you haven't, Go See One before you start saying that his conducting sucks.

  • ok.. truth be told i actually dislike the direction for more or less all the VGL samples and clips.. i don't usually speak without having a solid opinion.. everyone has there own interpretations of pieces and mine differ from this man to the point that i almost dislike the conductor.. the arrangments of most of these pieces is also lacking.. just thought i'd throw that in while i was at it

  • Ok, that's cool... If u can see offical clips that've been posted (only know of one here) or at the VGL site, u may get a better sense of what it's like to be at 1, and u may just change u'r mind; better quality than a cell movie for sure. Still highly recommend going to 1 If u can (not everyone can unfortunately), and just keep a open mind; less-than-ideal personal performances by orchestra/choir used Can lessen the show, like what I've seen online, but still worth seeing.

  • I really do agree with Mondo. I had the opportunity go to VGL and although our soloist was not great, the conducting was not bad at all (he seemed to have a lot of fun and energy). Also, the song was not played any faster or slower than the original.... I actually played this video and synched with the original version and guess what... same speed.

  • really bad solo

  • sWEET THAT WAS A GREAT PERFORMANCE, CAN'T BELIEVE HOW CLOSE YOU WERE TOO.
