@gregchips2390 that makes no sense if you had the puck on you goalies back why would you push puck into the crease and create a scoring chance dumbass
Pierre needs to stfu. His biased commentating is ridiculous. It's expected from the Penguins broadcasters on their sports channel, but not a neutral party like versus.
There was nothing wrong here. Zetterburg pushes the puck off Osgood's back(which is legal) onto the ice and back into play. if you wanna see some bullshit calls watch some highlights and keep your eyes on the Hens players.
either way, im sure there is some rule out there that they could have been called for.
plus, its hard to tell but to me it looks like he pushes the puck off of osgoods back and still has his hand on it right as it touches the ice. how could he have moved it from where is landed on the ice to where it ended up unless he touched it while it was on the ice?
If a player, except a goalkeeper, while play is in progress, falls on the puck, holds the puck, picks up the puck, or gathers the puck into his body or hands FROM THE ICE in the goal crease area, the play shall be stopped immediately and a penalty shot shall be awarded to the non-offending team.
Osgood's back =/= Ice
And he was just trying to brush the puck off anyway, not holding it or gathering it to himself, he was pushing it AWAY.
1. "Gathers the puck into his body or hands" Ever gathered a puck to yourself with your midsection?
Practically, only his hand matters.
2. The puck is going AWAY. The rule says GATHER INTO. In the first few seconds of the play, you can see the puck ends up a good 5 feet from Osgood.
3. The rule says FROM THE ICE. Osgood's Back =/= Ice.
If you think a penalty shot should be for any contact in the crease with a hand, that's fine, but your complaint is with the NHL, not Zetterberg's actions.
Pens just wanted game 7 more than the Wings did! Pens played a good, tough, solid game from the drop of the puck to the final buzzer! The Wings seemed at times disinterested and unorganized! Osgood was Okay, but didn't look overly sharp on either goal! Fleury was awesome! Maybe he could've stopped the one he let in, but he more than made up for it!
why dont u post the 6 on 5 that pittsburgh had for 25 seconds or the hooking penalty malkin had on kronwall so he could get a breakaway. You think this is the first time shit like this has happened in the finals. I'll admit that pittsburgh made us look like 80 year olds in game 4, but that game 5 5-0 win was solid from start to finish for the wings and none of those goals were"flukes" as u pens fans said about the first two games
For those of you saying its not illegal it is and was. It just didn't get a call. The league has already said penalty shots should have been awared. Also, last night we were gyped out of a goal on the Kunitz break away on the empty net when he was slashed. The league already said the goal should have just been awarded.
I agree it was close...rule does NOT state if the puck has to be on ice....however after watching you see the DET player push the puck off the Goalies back...which is legal long as he doesnt Close his glove over it....he clearly pushed the puck to the ice, cause another angle shows the puck squirting out...
Yeah, the refs biasness is ridiculous. How long did the pens have six players on the ice last night? Oh, you think that the refs are favoring the Wings?? No, no they aren't.
Not really considering I was telling people to grow up when they were bitching about penalties and "cheating". Glad you can be wrong and still take such a smug attitude though. Like I told everyone else, grow up.
Zetterberg pushed the puck off of Ozzie. You can see it slide off of him and down onto the ice. I'd have done the same thing, rather than watch someone tee-it-up off of my goalie's back.
Wrong. If you watch, the ONLY reason the puck slides off his back is because Osgood rolls over. The whole time Zetterberg's hand remains in the same position.
Penalty. Shot. Terrible officiating in this series so far.
"Wrong. If you watch, the ONLY reason the puck slides off his back is because Osgood rolls over. The whole time Zetterberg's hand remains in the same position."
Which still goes to say that he never "closed hand on puck".
You got your free penalty shot when Malkin hooked Kronwall for a breakaway in game one...to bad Ozzie stonewalled him.
Not to mention when Helm was on a breakaway, he got slashed in the hand...which should have been a penalty shot for Helm.
There is a clear pushing motion of Zetterberg's hand. He was trying to push the puck of Ozzy's back so that OSGOOD could cover it. In doing this Zetty's hand got blocked by a stick resulting in a failed attempt to move the puck the way he intended to.
who cares it is only Pittsburgh , they should have moved two years ago to K.C. Are all penguin fans whiners get over it there were calls that should have been made against the penguins.
Haha Pens were supposed to win this year to make Bettman millions of dollars. If you seriously think American professional sports are 100% genuine legitimate, and are not corrupt in any way then you're fucking retarded. Bettman uses his position as commissioner to influence the refs into helping the Pens. I guarantee you in five years the Pens will suck ass again.
Good no one can see that puck except Crosby and Zetterberg. They can't change the ruling afterwards. They missed it. Just like how the ref didn't see the puck when Hossa should've scored on the Ducks in the 2nd round. Refs miss shit, often apparently.
The way Paul Dvorski was talking to Crosby, it sure doesn't seem like he's tilted in his favor. Get over it. The Penguins are good. Period. There is no conspiracy to make them better than they already are. They don't need help.
lol dude you're fucking dumb. Look up three comments. I already explained it. American pro sports are NOT always legitimate. The commissioners/presidents/etc. fuck with shit to make millions of dollars. It happens in the NFL, and the NBA, and definitely the NHL. Every owner has made money while Bettman has been in charge, yet all the players and fans dislike him because he killed the spirit of hockey. Why do you think Crosby's face is on every fucking Versus ad? It's all about money to Bettman.
Really? I'm dumb? Well, that's news to me and all my professors here at school. I'll just disregard that completely ignorant and flippant comment, and move on to your next ignorant comment.
I'd hate to break it to you, but professional sports are BUSINESSNES. Owners are SUPPOSED to make money. But to suggest that somehow the referees are all in on a big scheme to help the owners make money is absolutely absurd. Quit being so angry and enjoy the sport.
Clearly you have limited knowledge of economics, so you should understand this. The NHL is a business. You said it yourself. And the hypothetical "CEO" of that business is Gary Bettman, aka KIng Fucko the Ass Clown. And what does a CEO do exactly? Oh right, they run the whole fucking thing. They control the employees under them. Get it cockgobbler?
That's it you dont see ovies face at all do you?!?!? Your right it is odd for a league to promote its best players i mean why would they do that?!?! YOUR A FUCKING ARTARD
So, the penguins doubled the Red Wings in penalty minutes and Bettman influenced the refs into helping the Pens??? Hmmm I'm guessing you get to ride the special bus to school?? Honestly kid how dumb are you? I bet you're still looking for the gunman on the grassy knoll, huh? Why do stupid people like you think because their teams suck and can't win that everything is some kind of conspiracy??
Ha ha, well I made a typo. Sorry. I also think it's quite strange that you insulted me when I completely agree with you. (????) I no longer see your comment here, and I see that you deleted one, so I assume you came to terms with your error and deleted your prior comment. The reason I made the point about my professors is that I don't appreciate being called "f***** dumb" when I do in fact have a pretty damn good education...Better than most and certainly better than jimih64's.
Dude every red wings fan goes on about bettman rigging it for the pens and how bettman is awful and yet they are the only ones saying this. I wonder if it is because they are sore losers?
wow dude i dont understand all the hate for the pens. Did they look influenced there? did they look influenced in o.t. when ovie tripped orpik right in front of the net and the caps scored the game winner? your either delusional or a red wings flyers or caps fan. and theyre going to suck in five years even though they have all their good players signed longer than that? And u seem to forget the pens were good for a long time before they went to shit in the late 90's
No defending player, except the goalkeeper, will be permitted to fall on the puck, hold the puck, pick up the puck, or gather the puck into the body or hands when the puck is within the goal crease. If you see the conversation Crosby is having with the referee, the ref appears to be clarifying that the puck wasn't picked up/grabbed (no way of actually knowing). I'm not saying it shouldn't have been a penalty shot, but I do see how it could be interpreted a few ways.
puck wasnt covered ON THE ICE SURFACE,if it was ON THE ICE, witch it wasnt then thier would have been a penalty shot GET OVER IT ALREADY PENWHINE FANS
yo dipshit, its a penalty shot in the crease if you cover the puck whether its on another player or not. you can knock the puck off, which your asshole Zetterberg clearly did not do. So, you're admitting that the puck was covered illegally.

NHL Rule 67.4
If a player, except a goalkeeper, while play is in progress, falls on the puck, holds the puck, picks up the puck, or gathers the puck into his body or hands FROM THE ICE in the goal crease area, the play shall be stopped immediately and a penalty shot shall be awarded to the non-offending team.

i understand your argument, but its not justified.
The puck isnt going AWAY, it was FLAT on Osgood's back, UNTIL Zetterburg gathers the puck with both his chest and his hands.
your right about Osgoods back not being the ice but the NHL still should have looked at this.
dmg8787 2 years ago
He didnt cover the puck, he pushed it off of osgood and put it under him.
littlerjoe35 2 years ago
It's still not allowed. To use your hand and push it under someone is not allowed. It should have been a penalty shot.
