  • liberals claim to love the environment and poor blacks. Their policies hurt the environment and kill poor blacks. LOL.

  • ugh stupid fucking college kids...really, I can't stand them, if there's one group that gives America a bad name, it's them.

A bunch of spoiled brats who, with nothing better to do, go out to protest things they're completely clueless about.

  • Any other musicians notice the amps they're using as a PA system at 3:00? Looks like a marshall head and a fender reverb / vibrato combo!

  • I own weapons, guns. I haven't decided to pack one around with me everywhere, but I WANT the average citizen to be able to. Many of them that have concealed permits are very good people. And should some nut, who will get a gun no matter what law, should that average citizen who has a concealed weapons permit be around, it may mean the difference of life and death. Its fact: guns don't cause the crime, its the criminal who does.

  • Stossel is a joke. Ancient Roman baths are contaminated with lead. the DDT? people didn't always know what could hurt them. Look at Asbestos.

  • Liberals are foolish-political correctness, even in the face of so many deaths

  • @OnlyAPawn1970 You sound like a conservative fool

  • Less gun control, more IDIOT control!

  • Vitamin A kills in high doses, Excessive fructose causes diabetes and liver failure, too much sugar causes heart disease and diabetes. Its the dose, not the chemical.

  • Why stop at legalizing guns why not legalize murder?

  • @makelle

Are you really that dumb, or was that a joke? lol, no ur trollin, nice trolls.

  • @makelle guns arent the problem...anyone can make a bomb and kill more ppl than guns.

  • I want Rosie to lay off my gun and the bonbons.

  • So its better to let children die of malaria than to use a chemical that may or may not do anything bad to them?

  • Theres a story of a woman who was on a bok choy diet who ended up in a diabetic coma. She was eating like 2 pounds a day for months, I guess and something in it screwed her blood chemistry up.

Even some vitamins, critical for life, can become neurotoxins when the dose is high enough.

  • If you are a house painter in California you cant even wipe a wall down before painting it unless you have a lead paint certificate from the EPA (for $300). the fine for sanding or scraping a wall or board with old lead paint is $37,500. I took the 8 hour course and got certified but I can tell you its a fraud.

  • Why not infect the anti-DDT folks with malaria and see how they like it.

  • @cptcosmo Why not spray all pro-DDT folks with DDT? That is a much more logical argument since you can't cure malaria with DDT only kill mosquitoes unless they're already resistant and therefore renders your argument completely pointless. The point Stossel misses is that poisons accumulates in our bodies and in the environment and which we know can't be good. There's no silver bullet!

  • What that lady at 2:58 says, "You are breathing probably the LAST of the oxygen!" has got to be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard!

  • what a joke, Americans don't need gun control...they need a whole new attitude torwards guns and then gun control.

  • If the people mentioned that are dying of malaria were allowed to spray DDT, they'd be dying of overpopulation. It is highly unlikely that they take into account the significance of the fact that sex=babies. As has happened in other African countries without the popularization of birth control, these people would exceed the carrying capacity of the place in which they live, destroy most resources, and then live in terrible conditions. The negative externality is not accounted for.

  • I love Stossel, but there is mis-info here. Artificial sweeteners, fluoride, GMO's, these DO cause serious problems and there is open research on the issue.

  • Let's face it; Africa is way overpopulated. Mosquitos and diseases are natural ways to limit population growth. Spraying DDT would only give Africa more proverty and mouths to feed.

  • @scotth602 You sound like a death loving Eugenicist if you ask me. I can prove it with mathematics that the entire population of the planet could live in the state of Texas, and have done so before on public forums.

  • @cptcosmo I don't know anyone who would want to live in a more crowded world.

  • Wrong John (0:39). #3 plastic, which was commonly used in "rubber" duckies causes birth defects. It's rare, if not impossible, to find #3 plastic anyway. If I'm wrong, let me know.

  • He never said how much DDT is safe.

  • It's now 41 states (up from 36 when this report was made) with some form of "shall issue" firearms carry permit... no uptick in crime rates from law-abiding citizens who own guns.

Recently in Florida, a teenage boy bludgeoned both his parents to death with a 22oz framing hammer, then held a party at this house with them covered by blankets and books, locked in the bedroom. Good thing he didn't have a GUN or somebody COULD have gotten hurt!!

  • I counted her blinking 200 times.

  • you were once a fetus

  • The same is true about Agent Orange. When AO was produced for commercial use there was no problems at all. However, when the U.S. Military started using it in Vietnam they required massive amounts of it. Making it in large batches for military use caused a byproduct called Dioxin which is the cancer causing element in AO.

If AO was again produced commercially it would again be safe.

  • I don't have a problem with the depopulation of countries or continents that can't support their populations. Think about it...Why would you bring children into your existence where you can't support their needs. It's the parents fault for the childs misery or death in those areas. Plus I'm tired of knowing they are there starving. They don't invent or produce anything! WE are expected to feed them. I'm 48 yrs old and there's been staring kids in those SAME areas all my life. Dont help'em!

  • @lynngrube It might be interesting to note that in many places around the world, when we can raise the child health and lower child mortality, birth rates decline. This must be psycological. It appears, when a population has a low life expectancy, it has more kids to survive. Increase the life expectancy, and birth rates lowers. Seems like a good way to combat poverty and overpopulation.

Furthermore, private investment can allow them to catch up, in many places, they already have.

  • makes you wonder whos spraying the malaria all over the place....maybe the words of henry kisinger can apply to this situation....

“Depopulation should be the highest priority of U.S. foreign policy towards the Third World.” ...

  • Wait, so 50 kids are dead from guns and there is an outcry, but abortion which killed millions is okay?

  • @jpzxcvbnm

Abortion kills nothing but a fetus barely bigger then the top of my finger.

    Fucking dumb ass.

  • @mecher3k

Abortion terminates not only the fetus but also her parental obligations.

So long as women have this right then so should men. After all isn't that what feminists have been demanding all along--equal rights?

  • @mecher3k So we base rights upon how big someone is? See who the dumb ass is?

  • @edwardschlosser1

Ahhh strawmen arguments. Common from creationists and their ilk.

  • @edwardschlosser1 Quite frankly, the Fetus is a part of a women's body, and its HER choice if she should get rid of it or keep it.

    Simple as that.

  • Why does this not have as many views as Friday?!

    PEOPLE NEED TO WATCH THIS

  • It's apparent that practically all the environmentalists are young white people who can afford to hold protests (since their parents who work for the "big greedy corporations" are paying for it!). in contrast, I think a poor Black kid living in an inner-city ghetto has more pressing problems (gangs, drugs, violence) than to worry about the well-being of some endangered owl in the Pacific Northwest - which he'll proabably never even see!

  • "More than 50 million dead, mostly children." Holy Cow!!! That means that 6 million Jews during WWII were small potatoes! Does this mean that our country is greatly responsible for a genocide much greater than the Holocaust?

  • @Reason1600 What about the 5 million others killed in Concentration camps? Or the 20 million Soviet civilians? Or the 11,285,000 Soviet military losses? Why do Jews only matter?

  • @g0twav I'm not sure I follow your comment. I am shocked to hear that the global malaria deaths that could have been prevented by DDT since the ban is over 50 million (3:05). That number is larger than any of the already staggering casualty numbers from WWII that you have stated.

  • @Reason1600 Yes I am just bringing up a point. Only 6 million were killed by the Nazis seems to be a popular point. I am just reminding you of the others that died because of the Nazis. On topic, the Green Peace movement is definitely chalking up it's own numbers.

  • Rosie O'Donnell says that guns are bad, thats proof that they aren't.

  • God, Al Sharpton is a moron. First, cars are deadly weapons. Does he worry about somebody losing control in his car and deciding to ram his vehicle with it. Or run his car into a group of pedestrians. The sort of person who would randomly shoot somebody is not the sort of person who would follow the law regarding carrying a gun in the first place. Frankly, if he thinks his picture of human nature is realistic, that says more about him as a person than it does about the issue of gun control.

  • People who carry those stupid "Guns Kill People" signs seem to forget there is a PERSON behind that gun. The gun didn't get up, load itself, and have a mind in its own to kill someone. Every person in my family in Alabama has a gun and it saved my aunt from a robbery at the gas station she worked at.

  • One of the best videos I have seen!

  • "Fear. Its the oldest form of control. If you're distracted by fear of those around you, then it keeps you from seeing the actions of those above you." - Fox Mulder

  • Green peace ruined nuclear power, while Europe is buildings several new plants a year we were building coal fired plants.

  • guns are great!!! 10000% more effective than slow-ass 911 calls or cops.

  • This report is very out of date. The "chemicals are killing us" crowd are going to get the last dubious laugh on this one Stossel. Research fluoride. And then once you realize it's a euphemism for hexafluorosilicic acid, and it's being dumped in your water and is building up in your food and the environment, you should start to be justifiably concerned.

  • want more birds or more humans???

  • There is pollution in the air and it does come from chemicals just not all of them

  • guns are only as dangerous as those who use it

  • 9 out of 10 dictators agree ... gun control works.

  • I swear environmentalism and gun control will merge together and cause the next Holocaust.

  • @freedomnow29 Yeah, I wish people who use actual common sense when it comes to how the world works and not just wishful thinking

  • @freedomnow29 I can only imagine how pissed you're gonna be when that doesn't happen.

  • guns are great.

  • If you want to know more about DDT and how safe it truly is, check out the 3 Billion and Counting movie. There is now access to firm proof that DDT can save lives, and is not dangerous. Do a search for 3 Billion and Counting... Find out how we can save thousands, even millions, of lives!

  • Al Sharpton doesn't what law abiding citizens to have guns because 30% of black males are felons and not allowed to legally own guns....AND THAT WOULDN'T BE FAIR!

Just because black men can't resist the urge to kill each other at a rate of one per day in Detroit and Chicago, doesn't mean I should not have a gun.

Buy a gun and join the NRA.

  • @indoctus41 John states in the opening "of course some chemicals in high enough doses do kill people", DUH! if you pour pure DDT "in your coffee or sprinkle some on your ice cream." it might kill you, but so would just about every other chemical under your kitchen sink, in HIGH ENOUGH DOSES!

Can too much water kill you? YES. Should we ban water?

Is it a coincidence that R12 refridgerant was banned right before it's patent ran out? Will the same happen to R134a? You bet! It's about the $

  • Liberals hate guns because they know that they can't be trusted with one because they would do crazy things with it in one of their higher than usual moments of mental instability and they can't believe that anyone else could be more qualified or mentally stable than they are. This is why they believe such whacko things like writting on a piece of paper is going to stop an armed robber or serial killer!

    -

    Liberalism is clinical insanity!

  • I'm all for having my guns but,

I sure as hell don't want to be sprayed

with DDT or whatever they're putting in

    "chem-trails" these days.

Then again spraying our grandparents with that crap

may have enabled us to now genetically withstand

the crap they are trying to kill us with now

  • Here's a challenge to Stossel. He shows a number of videos from the past with people sitting around with smiling faces while being sprayed with DDT, and Stossel states in the voice over that there is no evidence that the DDT hurt people. I'll go anywhere and meet Stossel with a canister of DDT, or failing that, some other chemical that kills mosquitos, and I'll spray it over Stossel while he's eating his lunch. What do you think Stossel's reply to my challenge will be???

  • @indoctus41 Like he said "it is in the DOSE!" What are you wanting to expose him to? A deadly dose?

What you state is just more whacko hype!

  • @dean81147 Let's make this simple enough for you to understand. The same dose that people are exposed to in his pseudo-docu while they're eating, smiling ecstatically as clouds of DDT billow over the table.

  • @indoctus41

No matter how simply it is presented I don't think you will ever understand. You are clearly implying that all those people in the video that were exposed to a dose, you know nothing about, suffered either illness or death.

    -

If this is not what your are saying then your assertion falls completely flat!

    -

Do you have ANY proof that any of those people suffered in any way? If you don't then your assumptions are HYPE as I stated before.

    -

    Let's talk facts, not fantasy!

  • @dean81147 Hey look if you think DDT is safe pour some in your coffee or sprinkle some on your ice cream. After all, there's no proof it's dangerous so that means it's safe, right?

  • @indoctus41 You prove my point completely. You deal in hype, not facts! To you NO chemicals that aren't safe enough to "pour in our coffee or sprinkle on our ice cream" should be allowed! PURE HYPE and typical irrational liberal propaganda! Do you put comet on your ice cream? Would a hippie even own comet?

    - They tried to brainwash me about DDT, and other things, in elementary school also, it didn't take in this free thinking analytical brain! You're not that fortunate, obviously. Got Facts?

  • @dean81147 What can I say? You and Stossel are advancing an extremist position and perhaps even believe what you are saying. Then again perhaps you just enjoy making vacuous arguments to watch others dance. In any case I'm not interested. Take care.

  • @indoctus41 Obviously nothing worth saying. I guess you are just another typical liberal who flees in the face of rational, linear, logical, assertions. Why should you be expected to back up your feelings with logic and trivial facts? You call being held to the most basic standards, aka "prove your position", as "dance"?

Of course you're not interested in standards in discourse. Not any more than a vampire is interested in a crucifix.

If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen!

  • @indoctus41 spray some windex in your coffee or how about some bleach. Liberal Commies and Right Wing fascists .... your both assholes.

  • @ORACLE063 Excellent example of a logical fallacy.

  • When Stossel doesn't go by any facts, he just rambles on about what he believes are myths. What study is he using that states that lead, mercury, arsenic, VOC's, PCB's, dioxin, etc are at safe levels everywhere and we shouldn't worry? (even though cancer rates are soaring)

  • Gun control isn't made for the criminals it is made for the average american who might not be so stable.

I mean there shouldn't be a ban on guns but there should be some control laws in order to keep guns in hands of responsible Americans.

  • ddt and all other chemicals that don't normaly occur (or manifest) in nature are poisons. This ddt myth is not a myth it's just sheeple (sheeple = 99.99% of the population -ignorant and superstisious-) control. Malaria can be naturaly cured by certain plants. This was known to the locals, but big pharma try to supress the knowledge. And this Stossel guy is just another propaganda pusher their agenda. He gets paid for it.

  • The looney left is on the wrong side 99.9% of the time.

  • Good going, Rachel Carson.

  • 4:39 stossel looks pissed

  • stick that in your PC pipe and smoke it

  • floride in water, was suggested by hitler

  • Damn liberals! Oh, man. I'm so pissed off! Oh, man!

    John Stossel is great!

  • 4:26-4:25 she cant even look him straight in the eye or refrain from blinking at 100 mph while spewing out that load of shit!!

  • 4:30 Politically correct lying CUNT!

  • what's sad is that, IIRC, the evidence for thinning of bird's eggshells isn't even 100% proven or it's hugely exaggerated.

  • if Rosie thinks the government carried out 9/11

she also has to know that the 2nd amendment was given to us as a last resort to protect ourselves against tyranny in government

    - Thomas Jefferson

that's a confusing ideology of Rosie

  • On the Gun Control part ...Gun Control is pure Bull$#!* Politicians want gun possession by the common person eliminated because then they will be the only people with power. Remember, power comes from the barrel of a gun. If you give your gun up these progressives currently in power (disguised as Democrats) will have absolute power, and total control over your life.

  • Sharpton as usual doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to guns.

  • I've got it! We'll ban all chemicals AND guns, so that way you are in no danger at all, except for the criminals who still have guns and the diseases that were previously kept at bay by chemicals.

  • Not only are chemicals everywhere but everything we touch is made of chemicals. You are made of chemicals. It's not only the dosage that matters. It's the particular chemical and the dosage that matters. Dihydrogen monoxide will not kill you. Humans are not immune to chocolate. We can just stand twenty pounds of it.

  • kitchen knives are bad. how many times did you accidentally shoot your finger? its one of the reasons I only have two japanese knives, but only to cut a melon, otherwise I wouldnt have it. damn, they are sharp.

your hands are deadly too, fingers can poke you in the eye. that is frightening. can you imagine just walking up and down the street knowing that 99% of people you pass has a deadly weapon and you could be their next target?

  • Stupid enviromentalists they ruin alot of things

  • yeah I appreciate people asking questions but using your heart instead of your brain sickens me when it dangers others. Peoples' emotions get in the way of research, facts, common sense. Just like the overly religious or radical leftist and right people.

  • I hate ludditism in all of its forms.

  • You should search Penn and Teller when they get hippies to ban water. lol. WATER! Idiots.

  • @StinkyBammerHater They helped one-up China for instance. Our manufacturing costs are higher than the chinese to due regulated processes and chemicals, then China can make their products cheaper than us.

  • @StinkyBammerHater Yes, they do.

  • @StinkyBammerHater Yea!!!! Environmentalists ruined being able to start the Ohio River on fire!!!

And what happened to the smog, now I got to spend money on sunscreen?!

What a bunch of dicks, amirite!?!

  • Welcome to the age of unreason.

  • hurting the environment a little bit or getting Malaria? Hmmmmm...

  • there are plenty of chemicals that are effective against mosquito populations that aren't DDT

  • DDT isn't just effective. It's relatively cheap. The "environmentally friendly" chemicals simply cost too much for impoverished African countries to afford.

So you can put up mosquito nests and pray you won't get malaria. Or you can spray DDT.

  • @TheRingil DDT does cause environmental issues. It harmed the Bald Eagle population.

  • @TheRingil DDT is cheap but the environmental costs (decreased bird populations) are expensive to fix. Since most people like raptors, you know people are going to complain and demand it to be banned and to restore the populations like the US did.

  • Well, go tell USAID about those, because they sure aren't helping Africa.

  • Comment removed

  • I have a hard time believing that cancer rates have dropped in the last 100 years, and there is plenty of proof that plastics and chemicals do cause cancer.

  • Really? Where? And what are the mechanisms?

  • @jlivings10 Whether cancer rates are going up or down depends on how you measure it. For one thing we are living longer which increases the chances you will at some point get cancer and we have much better screening for it which will also increase the number of diagnosed cases. As far as certain plastics and chemicals increasing the risk of cancer that's certainly possible but we need to weigh that risk against the benefits using those substances. Very few issues are black and white.

  • a gun in a handbag might be safe but do they know how to handle it, quickly take it out of the purse and if the attacker takes it away?

  • That's the beauty of it, the would be attacker doesn't know. You think he's willing to gamble his life on that?

But ban guns and it's no longer a gamble. He knows you're defenseless.

  • cool
