  • I guess I'm late to this video series, But;

I have been looking at this model as a 3D trainer.

What is your recommended Power kit, and servos ?

    Thanks You.

  • What's the video camera on board ? :)

  • That was great,I always wondered why my plane would fall when I added more rudder instead of power!

  • I can never find that plane on the web site... can you post a link?

  • @FlatRat3 If you go to Hobby King and click on planes, then click on sport, aerobatic & 3D it'll show you all the 3D planes HK carries.

  • Awesome vid! Thanks a lot!

  • perhaps you just use an offset switch on the elevator? Or perhaps you use neutral trim and use the elevator a lot when flying straight and level?

  • @panther3002 Also, Robert did a quick fix video as to how to program the mix. It is very easy, and he did a great video... NOt the right way to trim and mix an airplane, but a quick fix to a plane faling out of knife edge. Look down in the comments for the link.

  • @mtwargo Thanks a lot! That makes sense. I never knew that's how pilots did it. What do you mean that it's not the right way to trim and mix an airplane though?

  • Question Michael: I am an experienced pilot, but no expert by any means. When I fly my 3D foamie I set my elevator trim up quite a bit so that it flies nice and level at 2/3 throttle. This creates problems for me trying to get a nice straight knife-edge, however, as it requires a lot of down elevator then, and I have a hard time getting that set right. Do I just need more practice, or what is your technique to counter the heavy elevator trim???

  • @panther3002 The solution is simple. First Make certain your plane is balanced. If you have a lot of up elevator, you are probably nose heavy. In 3d, balance is very important. Regardless, this is what you must do. You must create a mix between rudder and elevator. in other words, every time you use rudder, the radio will automatically deflect the right amount to keep it straight. Nearly all of my planes have this mix to a degree.

  • The addiction you are flying there is that the 20 or the 40??

  • @bigguyforsure The one I used in the others was the Addiction X. it flies on the Thrust 40. it is the larger one. They both fly great... Really great. Great first balsa 3d plane. Actually the only great Balsa 3d trainer.

I amswered you on the other video as well by the way.

  • Would love to be notified and on list to buy a copy if you get one made. LARRY Seems the way you go about showing and telling it I pick it up so much easer. TY

  • Would love to be notified and on list to buy a copy if you get one made. LARRY

  • Micheal do you offer a cd package on learning 3-d ? Larry bigguyforsure@yahoo.com

  • @bigguyforsure NOt at the moment, but I believe I will soon. We have more of these coming pretty quick. 2 this week I think, and I am working on a professionally produced how to 3D video. Haven't begun shooting, but will soon. Thanks for the interest though!

  • Thanks for the tips rcredbaron. I ll try that.

  • In what mode you RC transmiter is it? Mode 2?

  • @FunktorTube mode 2

  • Weeble wobble move, would be very nice to see!! Thanks! nice job Mr. Wargo!

  • @jhonjhon101 Great question... simple answer... We will be addressing it at the end btw. But your problem is coupling, meaning your plane needs to be trimmed for knife edge. Simply go to your radio and program Rudder:elevator mixes and/or rudder:aileron. Sounds complicated but it is not. Can't explain here, but I will on the video soon. Read the manual. If it pulls toward the canopy, you will program some downward deflecting elevator mixed with rudder and so on....

  • Hi michael, nice tutorial. I have a few questions to ask about that. I think I can handle well the knife edge flight on simulator. But with my extra 300 from parkzone I noticed that it tends to spin back to a horizontal flight. If I counter with ailerons I also noticed that it tends to circle towards the belly. So I also add some elevator input to keep it straight. Have noticed this too or could it come from wrong settings or bad cg? Should I program a mix to neutralize these effects?

  • @rurouni42 : You are having coupling issues. Check out the video I posted on my channel showing How To Program out Coupling issues. I go over many different radios as well. ~~Hope this helps ~~Robert.

  • can you do this with a 3ch

  • @stampedvxl A 3 channel system? No... You need ailerons, elevator and rudder. 3 channel is not sufficient.

  • Great vid. Looking for more.

  • Cant wait for the rolling harrier and torque rolling!

  • Great instructional 3D flying vid,

  • Great action and impressive explanations! if you want to learn how to, this is the place to be! Keep 'em going! This is what is needed to learn this type of flying and there isn't a better instructor than Michael Wargo! Thanks Robert, look forward to many more!!

  • I've watched all his videos.... What a great idea to Learn from a guy who flies like this... MORE... MORE

  • More, more more... Great video, keep them coming!

  • The 5 people who disliked this video so far just realized they have been trying to use rudder to control height on knife edge for years.... lol

  • I have been following Robert, rcredbaron for years. I don't think you could have selected a better host for your how to videos! He has always answered questions and emailed and has been a tremendous help to me and many of fellow pilots at the club. Our club has over 200 members and we all follow Roberts channel. Keep up the great videos and a big thank you for sponsoring Robert on these videos. I just know he will continue doing a great job for you!

  • Thanks Michael! Very easy to understand. Excelent job.

     "Vince"

  • Well, I am going to try to cover in the order it comes into the 3d arsenal. Honestly, All of my 3d flights use a large percentage of non 3d or at least non 3d exclusive maneuvers. I am most fond of f3A type straight line moves. But the knife edge is a fundamental that must be learned before rolling harriers. Patience... I will get to every move in your list. PLus, we are working out the best way to film and present it... so stay tuned.

  • Is KnifeEdge a 3D move? More like a basic pattern/F3A aerobatics move if you ask me. High alpha knife edge maybe but not regular knife edge. Just my 2C but will be interested to see how you demonstrate rolling harriers, knife edge spins, torque rolling etc. True 3D stuff.

  • Thank you, good new serial for 3d !

  • Awesome! Thats really helpfull stuff!

  • Thanks! That gave me a whole new way of understanding knife-edge.

  • More of this please well done hobby king for giving something back

    ATB Malc B

    Silly Fokker RC

  • Great and very usefull

  • Great "how to" in a simple, clear and well presented format. 5 Stars!

  • hey, what power setup are you using?

  • Well done on the helpful video.

And thank you hobbyking for being so darn cheap... Price wise!

  • Can't wait for the harrier video!

  • Thanks Everyone... And YEs, there will be more. This was a first attempt, and the next will have a lot of bugs worked out... So stay tuned

  • Nice video. It is great to find a "how to" video with a real model plane and not a simulator. Good job!!!

  • Wow, this video is really professional. The split screen that even showed the way he was moving the sticks is very helpful, also the camera mounted in the airplane.

It should be called How to knife edge for dummies.

  • Great video and I like the split screen technique. Very similar to the Dave Patrick "Wring it Out" videos several years back.

  • Love this video ...keep makin more I wana learn more !!!!!:D

  • Great video! ! It made me figure out what I was doing wrong. PLEASE GIVE US MORE VIDS!!

  • Hope Hobby King keeps developing these "How To" videos.....great help.

    Gregg

  • Thanks for the lesson. Look forward to more. It's been hard learning all by myself.

  • I wish that my airplane would work the same way as yours but, She falls low or turns and thats why i practice on the simulator. Thank you guys and i will have to practice more.

  • @coolwaterhubby Some planes that dont seem like they want to hold knife edge have coupling problems. Meaning they need a rudder/elevator and or a rudder/aileron mix. I do this with every plane I own. Maybe I will do a how to on coupling mixing.

  • very nice!!! please tell us your setup for the yak 55.

  • what plane are you using to demonstrate the knife edge?

  • @s0ulman100 Hobby King's Yak55 EPP Look in the suggested videos or my video on it on HobbyKing's Channel

  • @mtwargo thanx mate

  • Are those Sweat Sains on Robert? :S

Hard to judge based on footage from a $9.99 keychain cam..

Great tips though, keep 'em coming!

  • Alright, I always tried to adjust the knife-edge altitude with rudder.. And that led to some crashes and I finally broke the motor. Now I´ll know better :)

Gonna get back to the field as soon as the new motor gets here (from Hobbyking)

  • This is awesome! keep these videos coming! :D

  • Cool

  • Our of sync in a major way. But interesing

  • Nice..

if you could use a wireless mic next time... kinda hard to understand,,

    thanks

  • @brushless55 no its not lol u deaf

  • just wondering what setup are you using on it...??? im planning on getting one soon

  • nicee
