Liebezeit´s drumming is so spank on it actually breaks the video tape at one point, cos the technology at the time couldn´t can´t handle seeing the drums spanked so topaliciously.
Whilst we know German speaking lands have produced many brilliant musical ensembles, Can amongst them, perhaps it is more of a surprise that we have seen, for the first time, something we might legitimately desribe as German Comedy.
German comedy does exist.
Can any journos looking in please notify the newswires ASAP cos this rewrites the book on a large part of what we know.
Yes, it doesn´t look funny but it appears they are indeed laughing. So technically they did have comedy.
This sort of thing wasn't uncommon in the 70s and 80s. No videos or MTV then, so you'd get the Police on Kenny Everett and Genesis on Tiswas if you were lucky.
What on Earth was this show? Unless they were desperate for the exposure, I wouldn't have expected Can to appear on what looks like a comedy programme. Interesting to see Michael Karoli on guitar and vocals whereby, in their Top of the Pops, Michael appears to be AWOL and Irmin and Holger mime into the mics. Probably a bit too 'noodly' for my liking when I was younger, but I've grown to love this song.
