I watched and enjoyed all three seasons of the Nanoha trilogy in Japanese with subs. After seeing seasons one and two in English, it makes me want to see StrikerS in English more. :D :D EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

@jennydaang - For this one, all I did was stand in front of a mic in a professional studio and act to the video on the screen. If you are talking about fandubbing (which this isn't) and want to make your own dub, there are a lot of resources out there. Start by looking for VAA or Voice Acting Alliance in Google.

The Nanoha dub? Well... I got the DVDs for A's, and... well, I had issues with it. >>; There are too many to list specifically here, but my main two were the script (not much the VAs can do about that, though xD;;;) and the fact that some of the actors just seemed to be reading off of said script.

The voices themselves, however I liked (except Reinforce's. I think she sounds a bit too... young.). The acting itself just needs work in places. Also, a better script.

Some of the dialog makes very little sense... Signum's speech sounds very random, and misses some things. For example:

"The knight of the sword, Signum soul, the magic sword of flame, Levantine, the ultimate form made of connected blades, the sword of archer steel."

It should be changed to make more sense. "...I am Signum, the soul..." for example. As well as fixing the whole thing with connecting the scabbard and sword to form the bow.

@TodA51 Perhaps, were this a fandub, that would be something for me to consider. As I neither scripted nor directed this - not to mention didn't have any say what-so-ever on any of that - that sadly is out of my hands. We simply said what was given to us. In retrospect, sure... a lot of things could have been different, but that wasn't really our place to say and we weren't in a position to make changes if it were. I appreciate your opinion though.

Actually, the movie JUST came out last year, so I'm sure it would take a while to dub that...

@JenAlyx: IIRC, Funimation handled the distribution for the first two seasons after Geneon went under. Hopefully they'll pick up the license itself (if they haven't already) and localize Strikers.

And maybe redo the first two seasons? xD; I'm sorry, but... this season needs a better script.

@ShootingStarNeo I don't think a redub would be likely, just due to the price it would cost to re-license and pay for all the re-production - of a show so recently dubbed. I guess it is possible, but not quite as likely as the hopeful license and dubbing of StrikerS. Yeah, and I knew that Funimation had done the distribution (thank goodness for that too), so I'd think if anyone, they'd be most likely to pick up the continued season. Here's hoping!

I give you FULL credit cuz Fate can be hard to do in my opinion. I plan to do a comedy fandub of this anime one day, and with Fate, I'd have to be emotionless, since it's her character, AND get into it at the same time.

@JenAlyx: Btw, one thing that I don't quite get about the dub...In season 1, it's Raging Heart. In A's, it's Raising Heart. Then when Nanoha and Fate level up, it's Raging again. Then in the middle of A's, it's back to Raising.

@3cheers4Ger - just some strange localization/scripting issues. Arf had some of the same troubles, with how her name was actually pronounced, though that all got sorted by the end of the first season. There may be a specific reason for the Raising/Raging changes, but if so... I don't know specifically what they are.

Allow me to disagree with the popular opinion: I like the devices' new voices. Yes, they were better in the original, but I think they sound pretty good here (provided Wolkenritter's devices are still speaking German).

Also, here's to hoping the English script writers fixed the grammar and Narm problems in the original script.

The voices are gonna take some getting used to (probably because I watched the entire thing in Japanese first. Twice), but from what I heard here I've very pleased.

I was thinking the same thing about Signum, especially considering her role as Cornelia in Code Geass.

Mela Lee, who did Hiyori in Bleach's dub (One of the Visoreds, a young girl who has an incredibly short temper), might have made a good Vita, and Stephanie Sheh's Isane voice might have worked for Shamal- her voice in this dub sounds a little too deep and not emotive enough.

I have to say, you guys did an awesome job with the dub voices of the first two seasons of Nanoha. While I don't mind sub or dub, I prefer to watch a show in dub format if possible, because then I can just listen and watch, not have to read the subtitles. I do hope that if Funimation picks up StrikerS that you, JenAlyx, will get to keep your role as Fate.

It's in German. Zafira, Vita, Signum and Shamal's magic style is spoken in German rather than in English/Japanese.

Um ... yeah, and Nanoha is 8 or 9. There is not going to be a huge voice pitch difference there based on age. Everyone has different voices. And Nanoha is more "girly" than Vita, so it fits and makes sense.

Here's the thing: Nanoha seems to be in the hands of Geneon. Ever since they made the deal with FUNi on distribution, they have not licensed anything, not even sequel series to what they already had.

We'd probably have to expect another FUNi miracle, in this case- them picking up the localization license, using the same recording studio, picking up the same actors. I hate saying this myself, but given the situation, chances are low.

I love that scene. It's even better on DVD on the big screen TV. Signum ended up being a surprise favorite voice for me. Her VA really nailed the subtlies of the character, much like JenAlyx did with Fate in my opinion. (Great work in the second season overall, especially in that dream world.) Personally, I think all the VAs did fine. Hayate just sounds huggable.

Vita's voice is actually very appropriate lol; I'm suprised. I am not a big fan of Shamal's and the weapons' voice, though; feel kinda out of place. Signum's voice is quite badass, and I like. Good dub, and hope you folks will help continuing to make more quality dubs.

Btw, Nanoha has got to have the best insert songs and op/ed songs around for anime. I'd certainly would like to hear a dub for them. Some will say original is better and that is often true, but sometimes variety is good.
