Apple Remote Late 2009 - My Thoughts/Review

I admit it's a bit of a mixed bag. I think the build quality is a bit better with the new one and I like the length of it as it feels better while holding it. Other than that, no real difference in terms of functionality.

The plastic remote cracked on me so i got the aluminum 1, I like it.

I like mine, look sleek match with my macbook pro 15 unibody and 24" Apple LED display, yeah it would be nice to have scroll wheel but I'm fine with it.

I agree. Why couldn't they have implemented a Scroll Wheel, like the iPod. It's bigger & it looks cool but they should have made a couple of changes in the way it works. I have 2 old (White) Apple Remotes. Thanks for the Review. I'm not getting the new remote!

No worries - totally agree, they should have made changes to the remote. Even if they charged an extra pound or two for the changes, would have been worth it.

Apple products are all about style, I have the old plastic remote but I want the new one.

The battery has gone on my remote so I use Rowmote app on my iPhone but even that can be mince

Look on your iphone, macbook, imac. It all says "Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China."

the first time looking at the new one..i honestly liked the old one better.. the new one's great but the old one is more iconic or as u said classier i guess.. but now its seeking in.. and im getting one cuz i dont hve an apple remote and im obviously gonna get the updated one..

i mean the old one was used in a movie with jude law and michael caine..sleuth..!!

hey man quick question do you know if they're backwards compatible? will they work with my 2 year old macbook or only with the new imacs and products?

1. the old white one takes the same kind of battery.

2. I don't own the new one, but from looking at I can tell i would not like using it, it might seem like a small issue, but the fact that the play/pause/enter button is not in the middle of the arrow wheel thing is a HUGE design flaw imo.

They dont include remotes with systems now, you have to purchase them seperatly.

the enter button is different on the british apple keyboards vs. the ones in canada. just noticed that.

I have the white one, it isn't hard to open, its similar to opening the iPhone sim tray in that you push the button on the bottom with a paperclip and the battery tray pops out. Quite satisfying to do really, I often just do it for the sake of it! (sad I know).

Same thing happened to me. I ordered the 21.5" iMac with the remotre and the remote came before the computer. I can't use the remote though because my iMac will be my first Mac!

The aluminum one looks better, in my opinion. it fits the newer style of their products. It would have been nice to see the touch sensitive wheel like on the iPod.
