I'm an Australian player headed to a LAN in the next week or so, I was wondering if I could get a demo of a match, would you be able to give our newly created team some pointers/your impressions?
I dont get why you are ragging on the format when 30 minutes play is the same in Euro matches. The issue didnt arise when you were casting those matches so i suggest its something other than the format that is making them more defensive than say a Euro or NA match.
Well, I haven't casted a Euro match yet... Coming next most likely... I think it's a combination of format and experience. In the European leagues you do get maps settled by 1 cap and defensive play, but you also have teams like Dignitas who are very experienced and don't let up the pressure.
@CommFT Admittedly I also prefer best-of-X formats than time formats, but they do lead to long, drawn out back and forth matches. I think the optimal format is probably timed with one-point overtime, so in this situation, if they turtled, the match would go to overtime, because you'd need a two-point lead to win. It could drag on that way as well, but at the same time it still makes the clock game a viable strategy.
even though the aussies are slow playing it, i actually like seeing a comeback after losing the first point. But when scout takes the spyral fast after the first point, there is no competition really.
FYI it's not "Lower end talent", actually most upper tier games are quite boring. It's all about tactics and timing, pushing and retreating
If you want a frag video with constant middies and awesome frags you should go watch a frag video, not a match where the video highlights both teams tactical decisions
This game is probably not the best to judge with either. Rewound did not play to their best ability and neither did -A-
Both teams are very good and have fantastic players and teamwork
Neither are very effective against competitive players. They know the signs of a spy and since it's only 6 people per team, it's easy to keep track of who's where and take out anybody who's clearly a spy.
Pyro is the same, only good against incompetent players. Both classes are rarely played in competitive. They're pub classes.
Pyros are used in comp play, but they are a big risk, and normally saved only for last point defense, like heavies. I've seen a tactic where a team would run pyro at the start of Badlands, he'd come up form under the bridge and rape the medic. But that as well is a big risk.
Regarding the format and aggressiveness; Its true that the quality of the uber wasn't great, but they HAD to attack because of the format, which in turn could have pressured a lower standard of play.
The team that's up can afford to play the clock, the team that is losing cannot.
Personally I haven't had much experience with comp tf2 and I'm Australian, but it seems much better to me to win across the map and game rather than on a timer.
Thank you for this great channel. Listening to your comments while watching whole matches is very enjoyable and informative. Keep up the great work. :)
It's always like that right after it's uploaded. Great commentary, by the way! And a small word of advice, it's much more fun to watch when you watch it through a First person perspective, at least for a part of the map. Like jumping aboard with a player for 30 seconds.
i dont know why i love seeing a medic get protected by his teammates something about it is just so awesome.

I can't believe there's blood on this video... don't you know how much more easily influenced Australians are by video game violence
you've helped breed the next 12 serial killers

I usually cheer for one team to win.
But I was cheering for both of them to just rush!
GO! GO! GO!

Whenever I watch these videos it makes me want to go play TF2.
And then when I hop on TF2 it's not as awesome as these videos make it out to be.

Sorry I didnt realise you hadnt done any Euro matches yet.
Yea if you sit back like that with uber advantage against a team like Dignitas they would make you pay for it.

I'm just a casual player, but this game was really boring to watch. The lower end talent just don't make very exciting games

Competitive scouts can flank better than a pyro.
