I've always thought this song was funny...but I have to say the scene is kinda awkward. At least in other scenes the musical numbers seem a tad bit more natural. Here the whole town/cast just so HAPPENS to converge to sing about their state and welcome a stranger and join hands while they're at it.
I've always found it laughable. Serious fail on behalf of the director.
