  • yeah i get there making an point an all, that but would you really pay to watch hours of fattys thumping about on a stage in tutus !?

  • I wish there was a good place in the Athens, Ga area for someone like me who is out of shape and overweight, due to a major ankle injury, to learn to dance. I used to dance and I loved it!

  • why are they parodying ballet...? making fun of art? I don't get it.

  • @herrohxx They're not parodying the art aspect of ballet, but the convention of all ballet dancers being stick-thin. They're making their message through dancing ballet without the figure of a traditional ballet dancer.

  • I saw this group and they were brilliant

  • In the first scene, they weren't even pointing their toes properly. Nor were they turning out whatsoever. These two skills are the basics of which every little girl acquiring to be a ballerina must learn. If even those two things cannot be obtained, I'm afraid I cannot take this as a serious ballet, comedic parody or not, big-sized dancers or not.

  • @rachel1161979

If you are taking it as a serious ballet, you are obtuse and missing the point.

  • I completely agree with their message, but most of them are not talented dancers

  • @722kelseyrae its a parody, and they are making a point

  • I find it absolutely insane how so many ballet dancers in these comments have a stick up their ass.

They are PARODYING classical ballets. The women of the Big Ballet CAN dance. They are technically proficient in ballet. Sit the fuck down and stop taking ballet so damn seriously. I say this as a ballet dancer myself.

  • @antisocialist87 Truth of the matter, I think this is a blessing. I'm in agreement with you. Ballet is beautiful and I desire to become a dancer, but weight has always worried me. Seeing this does not make me think "Oh, no, I don't have to trim up or work hard, I can be a fat slob and still do it". No, it makes me think, "If they can, why can't I? If they can put in the work, and love their bodies, and be graceful and beautiful, despite what most people think, why not?" I adore this. I truly do.

  • This level of hypocrisy angers me. The ballet dancers will all have unhealthily high BMIs...yet what they do is called beautiful. Yet if there was a ballet with a tag line 'The average weight of our dancers' is 6 stone!' shit would go down. I'm not saying either is right, I'm just saying why can't people promote HEALTH, instead of extremities..

  • These are the most darling women I have ever seen in my life. They are extremely cute, confident, more agile than what stereotype would suggest, and they have bright spirits. They have a sense of comedy, silliness and playfulness, which I am personally inclined to in a rather sensual way. I would love it...love it...LOVE IT! ... if one of these treasures was my treasure in holy matrimony every waking moment for the rest of my life. I'm grateful to know what true beauty is... in every sense.

  • Sigh. The dancers aren't technically skilled at ballet...I'm around their size and have technique built from many years of intense ballet training. I wouldn't get away with that in a million years. Big women can actually dance well and not as comedy...with, you know, turn out and beautiful lines? Sigh...I guess it's a step in the right direction though, so don't attack me for sounding bitchy, it just bugs me.

  • @jaynetasticfosho I totally agree with you. These women may be having fun but they aren't trying. I don't think this is anything to be glorified. They are mocking themselves and classical ballet. Bigger women can look better than that.

  • @the1thatGodloves

Classical Ballet as a whole has lent itself to be mocked because people like you and so many others take it so seriously. There are the men of the Trockadero that are male dancers that don't take much of the performances seriously, yet they do what their goal is - and it's to make you laugh. Honestly, if I were your director, I'd get you a therapist because, from experience, the ballet world will eat a girl like you up and spit you back out.

  • @jaynetasticfosho

It sounds as though you've never seen them perform. They can actually dance. Granted, they can't do shit like arabesque penchees, but they can still dance. Part of this is comedic.

  • The greatest part is because this company is made of strictly larger dancers, the costuming is made to flatter and fit them comfortably. I have always had a large chest, and the stupid speggetti straps or strapless costumes never "held me in" if you know what I mean. At least these women can dance full out always, never having to worry about costume malfunctions! And kudos to them in general, they are beautiful and graceful and having the time of their lives! Thank you ladies!

  • They are so graceful! :)

  • Excuse my ignorance, but how much is a "stone"??????

  • @mrfoltz 14 pounds, or 6.4 kilograms.

  • woooooooooooow

  • i think this is amazing!!
