wow. i remember when the 172nd deployed. that was a big blow to many people. the year before, my fiance was kia in Iraq. when i learned of the 172nd deploying, my heart sank. each time something occurred, i was on the edge of my seat, not knowing if it was one of my boys. 5 years later, i still remember.. 5 years later, we still love and appreciate everything you guys did. R.I.P to all those brave souls who made the ultimate sacrifice..
BOHICA (also spelled "B.O.H.I.C.A" and Bohica") is an acronym that stands for "Bend Over, Here It Comes Again". It is used colloquially to indicate that an adverse situation is about to repeat itself, and that acquiescence is the wisest course of action. An alternative etymology relates the expression to the days of sail and avoiding being struck by the boom, which would swing around the mast due to shifts in wind or the vessel's course......Miss ya Frenchy!
I don't know how many jokers Morningstar and I ran off the spades tables back in the day, so many good memories. A soldier and friend that I will never forget.
I remember SGT Morningstar, i had talked to him a few times at the CAC in Mosul. His memorial was the same day as Spc Martinez that we lost in the 14th ENBN.
I was part of A 4-11 FA and I have since left Alaska. But I will never ever take the 172nd patch of my shoulder. ARCTIC WOLVES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everytime I see this video it almost brings me to tears. I personally knew at 4 or 5 of the guys who were KIA while we (the 172nd SBCT) were there. They will all truly be missed. We did great things over there, then redeployed and reflagged as the 1-25 SBCT, and it seemed like the new regime wanted "out with the old and in with the new". All my fellow "original" 172nd guys know what I am talking about. I've deployed since then but will never take off the 172nd combat patch.
Im in the reflagged 172nd as 5th BDE 2nd ID, we're currently in Afghanistan and what we are is not what we were. 172 had some great warriors and leaders. I wont forget my friends who were taken from us
Very impressive. Before I went to Vietnam in 1968, I was a young 2LT in the 199th INF Brigade, went to III Corps near Bien Hoa and saw plenty of troopers with the 173th Bdg in II Corps. I must say the esprit des corps of the unattached Brigades rivaled that of the Green Berets in Viet Nam.
Thank you for making this. I had quite a few friends from this brigade die in Iraq and this video helps to keep their memory going. My husband was deployed with the 172nd Stryker Brigade for the 18 month rotation in 2005. I thank God everyday for bringing him back to me. My heart goes out to all that have fallen.
I miss my brothers of the scouts from 1-17 IN. My heart bleeds everytime I hear the wolves cry at the end of this memorial...I tear everytime I see our fallen brothers.-Kaye
I was in 5/20, 3rd BDE, 2ID. We replaced 172 in Mosul in June 06. I honor all fallen Soldiers every day, with prayers and even in my dreams. I lost a lot of brothers too, and it hurts every day. Our job is to remember them, honor them, and this video does that.
I was once in the 172 Stryker Brigade and discharged in summer of 2003. I came across an article in a magazine and noticed my former unit. I also saw that some soldiers died. I mourn the loss of commrades I never knew. Thank you for serving your country, Former PVT Homan.
Great video. Just want to add two more names. CW3 Mitch Carver, and CW2 Kyle Jackson. They were killed when there OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopter was shot down in Mosul in support of the 172nd. God bless all who gave everything.
Rest easy brothers.......the war is finally over. Thank you for you're ultimate sacrifice....I will never forget you.
