  • A 172 won't spin like that. Not unless you put an anvil in the luggage compartment. :)

  • @stuartmduncan1 Kept yoke full aft, to force the tail down. So it was intentional to force the plane into flat spin.

  • @wigrysystems I appreciate that. I'm just saying that a 172 won't spin like that in real life. You can get one to go over 2 or 3 times if you cross the controls and mash the throttle at the stall, but they're too stable to stay stalled in a spin.

  • Is that the default 172 you're flying?

  • @mechan9 Yep, thats the V9 default C172. Handles well don't you think :) Many claim that this plane is over sensitive but in a situation like this you need all the control authority to get yourself out of this situation.

  • Actually got an idea to make such a movie from two places. The first was from an Aviation Safety magazine latest issue thet had an article about spins and there was a lot of useful information. And the second was to verify improved X-Plane modelling engine that Austin was bragging about since 9.30 :) Also as I recently passed aerodynamics exams for my PPL license, then I know the spin aerodynamics pretty well.

  • well done, it his hard not to crash when it is spinning like that!
