  • I am 13 , and I have mastered in HTML and CSS . I'm not sure whether to start learning Javascript or PHP or etc . What do you think I should start learning ?

  • jmcs.com customised designs tshirts illustration plus much much more

  • My ultimate goal is to become a freelance web-graphic artist and list all of my skills on a website of my own creation.

I just watched your video that says that people should work for a firm before going freelance.

Like I said, I have a lot of time to plan this out properly but I am trying to get as much advice from as many professionals as possible.

    Thank you for your time!

    Sincerely,

    Ryan Soliwoda

  • I have a question, I am a 28 year-old film major and web-graphic design minor in college.

By the time I finish school, I will be in my early thirties.

I go to school part-time because I have A.D.D. so it is taking longer than some people.

My question is, do web design firms only hire younger applicants?

I have asked several professionals on youtube and have received mixed answers.

  • what advice would you give to a 14 year old web design/programming freelancer?

  • Thanks for uploading this video, I'm studying web development in college and got a lot from your comments, your advice makes a lot of sense and I think I'll benefit from it greatly in the future.

  • thank you, your advice really helped me!

  • Thanks for the excellent advice. That makes a lot of sense.

  • i started hand-coding my own e-portfolio web site last summer using XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I also managed to find a PHP form submission script to install on my Contact page. in addition, i would always recommend running all your web pages through the W3C vaildator. there's nothing more embarassing than showing your future employer messy, deprecated code during an interview.

  • hi, i'm the web developer (css3,html5,jquery,prototype/scriptaculous,php,ror,django) for many years, but the problem i don't have a good portfolio.. there is about a 100 websites i've done but it uses an oldest thecnologies like "transitional dct" and joompla, drupal "cmses". does anybody want to work with me for a very low cost with interesting projects that can help me to fill my portfolio ?

  • You the maaaaaan!!!!!! we love you!!!!

  • wow thanks for the good adviced but I'm confused right now cuz am self study about web design thru lynda.com and since wordpress are here do you recommend to jump from dreamweaver to wordpress...please help!

  • Thanks a million for the tips and the advice!

I haven't started focusing on web designing yet, but it's one thing i'm considering into my career of being a graphic designer with multiple talents.

  • Great video man!! Your tutorials are to awesome and really have helped me ::)

  • Thank Mike. i really appreciate your videos.

  • good advice, but what you do with web design beginners still learning programs and tactics. companies too are not hiring web design beginners. and knows at least medium graphics program.

  • @GodfatherMaxi There are companies out there that are seeking Jr. Web Designers. Designers with basic knowledge, and passion. You have to have at least some basic knowledge and skill when getting started. But starting out in a jr. level position is the best to grow and learn.

  • As a new web designer just entering the industry, your videos are an invaluable source of information. Thanks a lot, Mike :)

  • @al3xd3sign Thanks for the kind words, really appreciate it. Glad you're getting some value from my videos. ;)

  • i just looked at the listings here in the area, they want 7yrs experience, and a skill set out this world, for... [ready for this] ENTRY LVL POSITION

oh this is why i promised i'd never work for another human again. they try to bend you over at every opportunity they can get.

  • This was really great advice. I'm halfway through my first year at KU and this really give me a sense of direction. Thank you so much.

  • Thanks again for another great video. I also have to agree with what you said. First have to do the hard work to get what you want in return.. Thanks again for the great videos keep up the good work

  • @joseg008 Thanks for the positive feedback, much appreciated.

  • This is how I've started and I definitely agree with you: you gotta do something for yourself, maybe your friends or family, spend some time not earning money at all just to build your rep and skillset to land a basic design/development job. When you have regular income it's easier to build your own business on a side.

  • @sandfighter1 Exactly ;)

  • Nice. Answer for my question :)

    Przemek.

  • Good advice, thanks mike :)

  • Thank you Mike!

  • Man where did you go?? Missed your videos!!!
