It is not that Rico Suave "guesses right", Rico is a very smart player. He had been taking in to account that in the later matches, Gootecks was beginning to backdash and jump out of block strings to avoid throw set-ups.( 2:55 and 3:34) So to finish the match, Rico did a far jump-in forward and paused for a short time to allow for Gootecks to think it was a TT. Rico ultras Gootecks loses. Not a guess, but a ploy crafted by the sharingan.

I don't get how people hate on a certain kind of play style. Him playing defensive and throwing (which was working) is like getting mad at a dude for taking cover in a firefight cause it makes him harder to hit.

The fact that you call them "cheap" tactics is wrong period. When you play to win, there's no such thing as cheap. Gootecks is known for his tick grab set ups. Getting mad at him for going for the throw is like getting mad at Viper players for doing the burn kick cross up. It's just how he plays.

Well dude, when you put it like that, then you make it sound like every match is a giant guessing game and whoever is luckier wins. Being able to recognize patterns and know that "this guy will MOST LIKELY do this" is what competitive games ARE, not just Street Fighter.

@Peetar There's much more to it than that. You have to consider the differences between playing by prediction and playing by reaction. The luckier player doesn't SRK jump-ins, he'll do it every time, because that's something you can do on reaction. Jumping in predicting a fireball, however, can net you some big damage and in many cases an ultra. And I don't think the occasional guessing game is bad. It's because these guessing games exist people can read their opponents. Chance must be a factor.
