That is big! Her first three albums were hot hot hot. After 2002 she fell off and she doesn't really sing as good as she did before and her style kinda got watered down with her last two dry albums. I will say though that her Human Album was only a kick better than Afrodisiac only a kick.

Nowadays she has to give herself an extra push in order to sound good. I know that she got a good voice. I heard a lot of her unreleased tracks and she can still blow. Yes i did hear bathroom bangers. That is the problem, she makes all of these hot unreleased tracks yet put out mediocre songs on the actual album. Afrodisiac was a little dry for me.

@TexasPuertoRock Artists can record hundreds of songs between albums you know, especially Brandy since she's taken such long breaks between albums. She's probably done at least 10 albums worth of songs with unreleased material. But singers don't always get the last word on what goes on their albums. They have to work through writers/producers first, and the label has to approve of what gets to be on the final cut as well.

This song, though written by Rodgers and Hammerstein, is originally from the musical, No Strings. They added extra R&H songs to fill out/replace music when they made the made for TV version of Cinderella. This song was originally sung by Miss Diahann Carroll in No Strings on Broadway. I'm sure she was/is proud of Brandy's rendition. :-)

People can talk about her 'talent' all they want but her technique is absolute garbage if she can't sing eight bars without taking three breaths in the middle. Wikipedia notes that she couldn't get teachers in school to send her on auditions. Gee, I wonder why. Sad that she was cast as lead in a musical that included Whitney Houston and Paulo Montalban.

She was darker and had more ethnic features then what is generally celebrated as beauty. She's singing at the biggest award show for acting and film as a teenager. Of course she's nervous and she was barely singing at time because of her tv show so her technique would be rusty or underdeveloped.

She was recorded and her vocals were arranged by others meaning her phrasing was accepted by producers of the music and film so it may not be the "absolute garbage" you stated it to be.

Hollywood producers accept what will sell regardless of vocal talent or ability. Britney Spears and Katy Perry can attest to that. But those of us listening to Broadway music expect and usually receive a higher calibre.  If Nikki Blonsky can pull it off, Brandy had no excuse. She was out of her league and poorly cast.
