@TheDerick435 In power the XR's are far behind the new 4-strokes. But you can still go fast enough on an XR. What they do have that the new 4-strokes don't is reliability. They last forever. New 4t's blow often.

I hate the sound of new 4t's. i like how my XR sounds but the new ones sound like they are farting. And they are obnoxiously loud.

@TheOfficialKC well i will tell you one thing, my wife has been riding an 2006 yzf450 since it was new and she races in the pro class in the dessert circuit and we have not even replaced a plug in that thing. she has a boyesen quickshot a full fmf system on it and some other little things, the bike is very bullet proof and i dont know of even anybody that has blown up a modern 4. so i kinda think you have no experience with these new 4 strokes and you need to gain more knowledge about them.

@TheDerick435 Not every 4-stroke is giong to blow. But on average they are worse than the 2-strokes. my old XR250 4-stroke is bulletproof. Mechanics will tell you the new 4t's are unreliable. Go to superhunkey(dot)com. Very knowledgeable man, known in the industry to be one of very few to tell the true story in magazines. The only 2-strokes that I know of having problems are those that were not running pre-mix.

On top of that 4-stroke rebuilds cost 5 times as much.

@TheOfficialKC ok well ill tell you one thing, i go through one top end every summer on my 2 stroke, but i ride the shit out of it desert racing with my wife (she races the same class as me). but all my buddys who ride the modern day 450's ride the shit out of theres too and like i say i only know one guy who has gone through a top end.. and as far as i know really none of them have any issues with reliability. but the money is why i still ride my 2 stroke- top end wise.
