  • this is being played live a rarity in the 70s classy

  • This video is a favorite on Belarus

  • @lewisner Lead singer Darryl Braithwaite is still singing and touring. Saw him 3 weeks ago and he still sounds as great as ever.

  • @LilLeisa1968 Where was he and how do you find where he tours? Gary

  • @mollymitch1 Gary, he has a website that lists his tour dates. Google Daryl Braithwaite ( You Tube won't let me post the link). He was doing the Xmas season here in Adelaide when I saw him.

  • seriously horrible hair!

  • Great song, but I'm also reminded of the Norman Gunston version which was a great send up. Both versions thumbs up...Cheers.

  • @Werribeesteve Norman had some great songs, Delilha was another one he sent up pretty well.

  • Howzat by Sherbet, the bogan anthem.

  • Did the lead singer do anything after this?

  • great song d l t what a merchant banker

  • love it tho i was only a kid xxx

  • Typical Australians - "let's name our next song after a shouted cricketing appeal for LBW."

  • What a stupid intro... wtf with the banana

  • time has gone so fast in the song.s of the 60.s and 70.s mayby some 80.s we could understand what was in every word said not what is out now is a load of trash we could not understand what they where singing anybody could go and record s..t now and the youth of today will enjoy sad or what

  • just heard this on TOTP2. I was too young to remember this the first time but I'm hooked now. Also, has DLT aged in 40 years? lol

  • Just watched this episode of TOTPs 2,they where the best band by far and DLT is a bit of a dick

  • @Intercity1251 no hes the female equivalant with hair round it!

  • @zog97xy Can't disagree with that,such a stupid intro...

  • 1976 love that year every tune has a different memory wow the year i grew up

  • dlt wot a cock

  • Was DLT Humphrey Cushion's father?

  • Superb,RIPmate!

  • Age of innocence before the sleaze of disco and nihilism of punk.

  • WOW! DLT is bonkers!

  • I re- discovered this amazing song about 6 years ago (i.e. 2005). I was so happy to re think it and therfore find it again on Ytube today. The funny thig was when I loved it at the age 11, I just knew it was about cricket - when I found it again at the age of 40 I realised what it all meant and loved it even more. Us poor blokes that know when we are being shafted by our girl at the time - The only response -" How's that" we would probably say " you bitch" now -but would go to a nut house

  • Not bad to say it is live,on dutch show Top Pop but missed the middle eight off

  • singing live.

  • the original 'medallion man' darril braithwaite in his pomp here.....and obviously not taking himself too seriously lol......a technicians strike at the beeb meant that this was the only time the aussie superstars got to perform this on TOTP......which is thought to have cost the band a possible number one spot with this classic.......

  • Epic !!!!!!!

    So many memories, love this

    you have all the classics

    Love it

    XXXXXXXXXXXX

  • Loll i love this song, used to hear it a lot, but now i have rediscovered it :D How-ow-howzat!

  • Thought I might mention that the Times listings for 30/9/76 state that TOTP had "not changed in at least five years". You might say they're hardly the ones to judge, but the fact that even they could sense a pop stagnation shows that there must have been such a thing, though this UK one-hit wonder (a wildly different story in Australia) isn't a song I'd kick out of bed.

  • @RobinCarmody It had changed though - or rather decayed perhaps? - and that point seems to have arrived as 74 (the Xmas Day 74 show is awful in it's presentation) turned into 1975, and continued into 1978, when post-punk new wave gave the charts a firm kick up the backside. 1976 in particular played host to some fantastic singles, songs that were staples of the 80/90s Radio 2 and the pre "heavy rotation" AM Gold stations, many of them one or two hit wonders devoid of image & decent presentation

  • @RetroCool73 indeed it had decayed, but you're right about 1976's uneasy calm, its MOR netherworld teetering on the brink of the IMF loan: "You Are My Love", "Uptown, Uptempo Woman" &c are the songs Radio 2 was actually playing when some people wrongly pretend it was still playing Mantovani all day.

  • @RobinCarmody Using TOTP as a yardstick, it's as if the Glam Rock era was a reaction against the 3-day week etc, but ended up simply exhausting pop leaving us with the forced jollity of Kenny, Mud & numerous other dreadful acts payola's onto the show. In contrast, 1976 presented to us a series of one/two/three hit wonders, great music with no image other than beards & bad clothes as if pop now had "grown up" presented to us by bearded and/or middle-aged DJ's

  • @RetroCool73 Mud weren`t dreadful

  • @paulhamerton read it again, I didn't say they were.

  • @RetroCool73 sorry i read it as you saying kenny, mud and numerous other dreadful acts

  • @RetroCool73 As you say there were some great one or two hit wonders around in that pre-punk period, it wasn't all dross! As well as Sherbert there was Liverpool Express - You are my Love, Sailor - Glass of Champagne, Four Seasons - December 63/Silver Star, Chris White - Spanish Wine, Jigsaw - Sky High, Alessi - Oh Lori, Climax Blues Band - Couldn't get it Right.

  • @leemcuk1 Really appreciate these 'sign posts', knew some of the songs already, but some new gems there too! Heres some for you ....Jags - back of my hand, susan fassbender - twilight cafe, city boy -5705, The Motors -Airport. :o)

  • Hmmm. Wonder if Mrs Terry might play this when John scuttles out to Dubai.

  • Another great song from 76! Loved this band, and glad to hear it being played on the radio still! Nice! Benja :-)
