  • It's not that easy.

  • COUNTRY AHH...

  • And what if you don't have a knife like this?!!

  • Like a Boss

  • If you hurt yourself during this you will a Darwin award later in life...

  • this guy is a pro in can openning

  • i accidentaly cut 3 fingers off

  • @guiltyhalo Shut up, no one believes you.

  • omfg thanks to you i can make my 7-layer dip. youre a savior.

  • looks good but i am worried if the knife will cut my fingers :[

  • I so need this now but the can is too thick and just realized that my can opener is broken I am hungry now.

  • Yay it works, try pushing on the top of the knife ppl, instead of doing it like he did, but still use the corner.

  • This only works if you believe you're a japanese master cook

    Don't believe me, try it?

  • WTF, ok this doesnt work for Spigettie o's because my knife broke -_-

  • Canned fish brought me here hehehe

  • How to open a can without a can opener and a knife

  • Time for a new kitchen knife...

  • Y U MAKE IT LOOK SO EASY

  • No offense but why would you use this method if you already have a can opener?

This worked like a charm for me to open a can tonight but I'll be getting a new can opener soon.

  • worked like a charm

  • What a beast bro, you totally earned that corn.

  • I just raped the Tuna can -.- opening it with a can opener would have been much easier!

  • why does it look so much easier than in person?

  • Great success! thank you for the video! BE CAREFUL AND HOLD IT BY THE BLADE!

  • i was about to try this with my tuna fish. but naw too dangerous ill eat some cookies for now

  • i used a cleaver it worked!, but hold on tight right at the blade not the handle otherwise you could lose control

  • japanese cans are so light......

  • @YoungKoolness17 Cause they for babies.

  • japanese corn ? :O

  • I wasn't as smooth when I did it. That Knife must have been high grade steel with a good blade.

  • u can tell it was already open

  • ha i did it! it waz a little tough this way but i knew nuthin waz gunna stop me from eating my canned peachez mmmm!

  • @TheChampiYon Im sitting here right now with a can of peaches and no opener and im not going to stop at anything for them either! Considered using the machette to lop off the top but I'll try this instead.

  • i cut my self

  • YEAH. Because if I don't even have a can opener, I'm just gonna have a hundred dollar knife laying around in my kitchen. -_-;;

  • If you cut yourself opening a can, you shouldn't be allowed outside of the house.

  • @UncleFourFinger Yeah.

  • Its deffinitly a good techniuqe but hard to master. It's not as easy as it looks in the video.....

  • Bubz brought me here...

  • YOU CAN BUY THIS KNIFE AND ITS ENTIRE SET OF 18 OTHER KNIVES FOR ONLY 6 EASY PAYMENTS OF $39.99!!!! ORDER WITHIN THE NEXT 20 MINUTES AND YOU'LL GET ANOTHER KNIFE! YES... ANOTHER KNIFE!! FOR FREE! :D

  • thats a hella sharp knife because that was TOO quick lmao

  • way to dangerous. both to me and my knives.

  • Safe and easy. thanks for the video friend.

  • this came in handy thanks lol

  • Thanks so much! But it wasn't as easy you doing it though...Next time I'm going to just buy a can opener still.

  • IT WORKED!

  • because everyone loves microscopic alluminium flakes .

  • why don't these things come like in the cans tuna are packed? you have this metal ring that you pull to open the can, so you don't to open using a can opener. pls tell me why.

  • my can opener broke.. im gona try this.

  • ppl... i was stupid enough to actually tried doing this and ended up with 8 stitches on my fingers... getting a can opener would be so much easier.

  • can opener PRO

  • AaaGGhH!!!! MY FUCKING FINGER YOU COCK SUCKER !!1!!!!!!

  • The only thing missing is the "Tadaah!" at the end =)

Hmmm...Wonder if you can open one using the microwave...? :p

  • @joakim2407 you cant.

  • @Ranch5490

I know, but I still wanna see people try it =p

  • @joakim2407 Then why didnt you just say that instead of saying you wonder?

  • @Ranch5490

Are you being serious right now? =)

Ok, my bad, let me start over; I wanna see someone try to open a tin can by using a microwave oven. =)

    Better? =)

  • @joakim2407 yes i was serious(:

  • The only thing missing is the "Tadaah!" at the end =)

  • doesnt it come small metal particles inside the can_

  • But what if you don't like corn?

  • Only do this with a crappy knife as pictured. I wouldn't ruin a Wusthof, Shun, or Henckels when a can opener can be had at the dollar store.

  • And now, what's next for dessert ??

  • you are my hero!

  • ha, im glad im not the only one. had to do this when camping. improvised the opener with a my knife like above.

  • Way to go completely killing the edge on your knife.

  • thats either shit tin can or its already been open

  • that can not be good for the knife

  • @onlyMTBlade it's not! I had an instructor chef at the culinary school i went to, attempt to do this with my $300 kasumi knife while I was in the can. I came back and saw him doing this. Needless to say he bought me a new one

  • @nesbitt615 Well how else did you expect him to get you out of the can? XD

  • @Toobulations Very carefully

  • i thought kniifes were supposed to be sharp and cut food guess not in your house

  • great way to ruin your knife

  • @firebird646 Meh, the back of the knife doesn't get used to cut stuff much, so it works lol

  • thanks very much for posting this..

    now I can eat.. :)

    haha

  • brilliant!!!

  • i love the taste of metal in my beans .. Hum hum !

  • or i could not destroy the edge of the most used part of my knife

  • i just made a hole with the knife like she did and just used a siccsor

  • basically buy a massively sharp knife that i more expensive than a can opener... lol. its good. but its not logical.

  • you made it look so easy o_O

  • That whole thing, just looks scary.

  • cool, great tip, ty

  • Lack of can opener + this video = most satisfying tuna sammich ever. :3

  • You can get shards of metal in the food when not opeining it a proper way.

  • @wdw1hsm1girl that's only if you saw the can open with a serrated blade though...

  • Cool.

  • How to lose fingers easy...

  • WHO WOULD HAVE THUNK IT...

  • lol, i wish i knew about this when i was trying to open a can this afternoon and i didnt have a can opener

  • go buy one! it's not that expensive!

  • Good and simple.

  • i hope its that easy im about to try it on my john west tuna

  • Use a strong, sturdy knife, but don't use your parents expensive chef knives.

  • thank you i tryed it and it only took me 10 minutes to make lunch

  • The knife wasn't sharp enough and my hands weren't strong enough either. Fail.

  • Enjoy your metallic corn ahah!

  • THANK U!!!!!!!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD I FINALLY GOT THE DAMN CAN OPEN!!!!!!!!! my can opener was being a son of a bitch -_-

  • @seagirl7991 MINE TOO omg i just wanna throw it out the window..

  • how to make your knife dull without a can opener

  • bravo rambo

  • fail, 1st of all, ur knifes getting less sharp 2nd ur doing it on steel, which schratces the surface of the stainless steel, lol

  • @FinTricker I did it i had to stb the top hard thoe

  • @FinTricker Fail: First off, the knife is getting "dull" second, you can sharpen it

  • lol

  • effective hell yes. save not so much

  • looks way easier than it probably is

  • It is! I tried this, I was left at home to mind the house and my can opener malfunctioned. so I tried this method and although I pulled it off, shit was hard to do!

  • Now, now, I would not myself risk getting injured in that way.

  • thats dangerous....

  • wow it looks so easy but for me it's too hard! xD

  • err then you use the knife to clean toes maybe? Can't be good for the knife though. I would never use that on my knives.

  • dude this really works... its not that easy but it works.... so awesome...

  • Japanese sweetcorn is just weak xD my tuna can kicked the knifes ass C:

  • Dosen't work on Tuna xD

  • Check my response Im 10x faster and I didnt even try!!

  • that tin can is much thinner than the tin cans we have here in the US.

  • it's actually not that easy comparing to your demonstration.

do you have a good knife or is it just my stubborn can.

  • You make it look so easy!

  • @littleblackdiary sharp knife

  • yay! I CAN HAZ MAH can of Beanz now ^_____^

  • really!! Talk about runing an expensive chef's knife. Let's see how quick you'll use a $100 knife. Now those $5 walmart specials, no problem. This video just hurts my teeth.

But yes ecouricrcouk, I agree, starving or dulling a knife, I'd sacrifice my $100 chef knife and find a good rock to resharpen it on.

    Enjoy your meal

  • A good knife wont be ruined by aluminum.. especially using the back end of a knife.

  • lacking a knife i just tried this with my spoon.....

  • yeah!thts an awesome way to cut your self.dang wht do u do with tht knife?

i sure dnt want u in my house with tht!:)

  • this just saved my dinner!

  • haha just what I needed!

my can opener crapped out on me =P

  • canned food FTW. some of the best food comes from cans. It's fun to find different ways to open cans.

  • that was awesome. it was faster than finding a can opener LOL

  • thats corn what about beans lol

  • AT LAST!!! A youtube video that has actually helped me - Thank you.

As for all you peeps complaining about "it will make the knife go blunt" two things.

    1) The back corner of the knife was used to open the can (leaving 95% of the knife good and sharp)

    2) Faced with having no food and starving (due to not having a a proper can opener) or making half my knife go blunt.. I know which I'd choose.

Stop winging, and be thankful... Like I am.

    THANK YOU!

  • I would kick his Arse if he did that with one of MY knives.!

On 2nd thought I wouldn't let any cro magnon in my house to begin with. If my Oxo raptures up before me I still have my P-38 before I would sacrifice a knife!!

  • nice improvisation, but wouldn't be the first thing I'd think of for the obvious reason of dulling your knife.

  • GOD YOU MADE MY LUNCH <3333

  • Nice way to fuck up your knives!

  • ok, i finally know how to use a can opener. i dobn't use the knive

  • there's people that didn't know this??

  • Watch the metal shavings..those can kill!

  • your nuts lol

  • ffs my knife got chipped fuck my mums gonna kill me

  • thanks to YouTube I won't starve to death

  • WOW o_O nice :P

  • check out gizmocanopener (dot) org.

  • Ahhh thank you good sir tonight my cat shall not dine of biscuits but meat fresh from the can

  • Comment removed

  • your a twat

  • cool, now i will try that. my wife broke the damn can opener..lol

  • I never knew you could do that!

  • I wonder which is quicker - using a knife (like shown in the video) or using a can opener. I guess it depends on how desperately you want the contents in the can.

  • since my mom is a chef she has 100s of those knifes yes!!!!!!

  • she probably also has a can opener

  • goddammit i dont have a knife like that

  • @sillydillydokieo lol, I know right...

  • this was awesome! thanks for saving me on a sunday night mid-way thru cooking! ;D

  • hey this is pretty nifty.

  • you're a maniac

  • This video sucks. I'll just use a pocketknife. Anyone who doesn't have a pocketknife is a damn fool.

  • let me guess, u live in the country side and you like shooting animals too for fun.

  • LOL!! No ma'am. I live in the city and I don't hunt. I CERTAINLY don't kill for fun.

  • if thats the case , just use a can opener, dumb ass

  • @shadyalien your mom has a pocket knife?

  • Yes.

  • oh thx this helped i cant find the damn can opener xD

  • lol clever but really dangerous and really easy to dull ya knife

  • gotta love youtube..

    it always has the answers

    YOUTUBE IS MY NEW RELIGION!

    lol..or mommy?

    anyway!

  • ooor you could smash it on the ground, cut it with a saw, drill it out, etc, etc, etc.... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • your gunna ruin your knife.

  • that has got to dull the knife

  • What do you use the back corner of your knife for that it needs to be as sharp as the rest of it? I'm not saying this is a good way to open a can, but if you lose your opener or it breaks, it can be handy to have an alternative method.

  • that is very true

  • Could there be an even more boring video?

  • Always use a can opener and never a knife! You can chop your index finger off or even worse, hack into your wrist. The can he is opening is typical of Japanese and European cans. US cans use a more sturdy steel while they use a can that is about half as strong as ours, so for them it's easy to use even a big knife to open. (such as in this video).

  • yeah i was watching this video wondering if such a feat would be possible without screwing up on green giant cans. they're pretty hard to open already O.o

or maybe its just me :D

  • Sweet corn in Japan!

  • thanks

  • thanks, my granny has one of these manual can openers ad i cant figure it out.

  • Same here. Thank you!

  • Very useful but horrifying to think of using my good knife that way.

  • Just thinking the same thing..shame on me though for having a really expensive knife and no can opener.

  • I will will use my Swiss Army knife first. then the neighbor's. If that doesn't work I have a shop filled with tools or I am heading into town for a burger at the bar. I am not doing that to my J A Henkels. Especially for a can of corn
