@unlikeanyotherhuman Actually you are wrong and right. He is not trying to play the verse the way the original song is played. This is the new version by Stryper. It's supposed to have more energy and for this reason he is playing the snare on 1, 2, 3, & 4 instead of just 2 & 4.
oops @ 4:00 ....I think we all better look at the drummer and find out where the heck in the song we all are !!! hahaha oh well still nice to see them try it for the show.
I was at that Texxas Jam and Boston in no way put the crowd to sleep...they rocked! Get your facts straight and don't try to put your opinion on the rest of us that loved the concert! RIP Brad
Stryper is darn good, saw them last night at House of Blues; they've still got it. Saw Boston back in '87 at Texxas Jam and they put the place to sleep by playing the entire Third Stage album in album order. They were great on the hits, but ugh.
I agree that Sweet can hit the notes but he has to much vibrato in his voice. I am a purist as well and don't even like REO Speedwagon without Gary Richrath either.
As a true Boston fan and a classic rock purist I miss Brad but cannot overlook Michael Sweet's vocal presence. He sings Boston music well enough to appease Tom. I'm glad to see such great rock songs in Mike's capable hands (and vocal cords). ROCK ON, BOSTON! (We miss you, Brad.)
Indeed...Michael is the best that music can offer presently. I'm ready to cut off my ears if they ever let the American Idol guy sing in Boston. Brad remains one of my favorite lead singers of ANY rock band.
Thank you. Although, if you read my comment carefully, I am referring to those who have judged Michael Sweet as a Christian, not as a musician. You are looking for things that just are not present. The Bible reads, "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God". I hope this sheds some light on the situation. Go in peace, brother!
Joeymcnew...and I suppose you could do better??..NOT!!! Stryper does a GREAT cover of this tune, and Michael Sweet rocks on vocals, as this past summer's tour proved!
The drummer ruins it, holy sh*t that drummer is like a 5 year old getting his first kit! Try a little "musicianship" next time and enough with your Van Halen version of "Pretty Woman" drum beat!
IT's Ton Sholz/Boston(minus dead Brad Delp - he's dead) & Stryper dudes just doing a jam from the Brad Delp tribute (that went well) Trust me~ No one is recording this for an album...
God, I hope that's NOT the way they're going to perform this classic song when I see the band next month in concert. That's with over-playing the drums during the verses??
The drummer looks like a muppet!
I understand rocking hard, but ....muppett please!

I'm a purist here. The only way to play this song is with Brad Delp, Tom Scholtz and Barry Goudreau. Those guys are essential to this song.

Robert, just pounding out the drums in the background. And Oz totally headbanging off to the side. That is awesome.

O.k., so America has not fallen into a deep sleep, musically speaking. The majority of you are just jealous a Christian has surpassed you!!
Cry someplace else, not here!!

Joeymcnew, Boston obviously think Stryper should be playing with them! It's not what Boston thinks that matters though right, it what you think!

Kimberley Dahme is the bassist, and, as bluer32 stated, she sings BACK UP.. Michelle062970 needs to read a little more carefully.. ;)
Anyway, Michael Sweet has an amazing voice- even after all these years- and hearing him sing with Boston now is awesome!

dame has to go. If Van Halen could find an awesome replacement for michael anthony then so can boston. She cannot sing and her bass playing sucks.
