when blackmores night first came out , i thought what the ? from the first listen of shadow of the moon ..i was hooked , fires at midnight , great song, some of the tunes take some getting used to but most are typical blackmore masterpieces.....sure we all miss the old ritchie but things change...if he didnt do this , our lives would be without blackmores night .....if he didnt leave purple ..no rainbow. no evans no gillan dio no coverdale etc...things change..15 cds w/candice ..I LOVE THEM.

@turnipofficer. you are absolutely correct that Ritchie loves this type of music. He always preferred listening to classical ,Chamber music, 16th century folk to rock and there was a lot of those elements in his style playing hard rock .listen to Purple's Highway star and the chord progression behind his solo during the part where he plays those regimented triplets. A typical J.S. Bach thing ...A typical Ritchie thing

Music comes in different forms, but music is music regardless of its shape. theres natures tune, theres this, theres heavy metal, pop, rock, country, folk, classical, ect... So yes, i agree with you in a way. I am generally a heavy metal guy, but i do occasionally listen to this, or country, or w/e happens to be on (tho some music makes my ears bleed) :P

Well hence the " marks meant to mean it loosely. My post there was a legacy post from the old system, hence hard to see it was a reply. It was a response to some person saying ritchie's should get back to playing "real music" by someone who would rather have him playing his old style. I was merely saying this music is "real" to me, and in a sense, denying that there's such a thing as "fake" music, so in essence, I said what you said just the context was missing.

pieces, some fusion with modern genres, and some self written traditional style Renaissance pieces. I saw them a few years ago and they do it all. I want to see them again. It was an awe inspiring show. Blackmore's musicianship just improves with age. If anything he's even quicker and faster than in his youth like a master martial artist. And he's as melodic as ever. His phrasing is as good as it gets, and he's still playing with passion/fire.

Richie Blackmore and Candice Night, have entertained us with some of the best music ever written / performed, anywhere at any point in time on the face of the planet. This isprobably one of their better known songs, and deservedly so, I have yet to hear a song by them that I did not enjoy from the first time of hearing, one of my favourites is 3 black crows, from the "ghost of a rose" album, that said, it is difficult to pick out "favourites" from among their many compositions.
