Because Sam gave it back to Jason and told him to hold on to it until he was ready to put it back on her finger... That is why i want him to use the old ring and not a new one, but it looks almost the same as the old ring that he gave Sam before his brain-surgery back in 2005, so i could be wrong about it beeing a new ring... Go back and watch the Jason and Sam clip from 11-18-05 (Part 2) and compare the rings, and tell me if i´m wrong or not...

It´s on that rooftop, that they had as their own secret meetingplace during Alexis cancer s/l, and where they decided to get back together when Ric framed Sam for stealing evidence, she was arrested during a halloweendinner that Jason had set up with help from Emily... But i always imagined Jason proposing with their old ring...
