  • thank you scott for all the tips specially on how to avoid injury

  • Scott...my neurologist says to actually bend your wrists as you push to prevent carpal tunnel syndrome.

  • @skingftl If you have issues with your wrists, you might wanna listen to your doctor, who is after all a trained medical professional and unlike us he has actually examined you. It seems a bit unlikely, however, that a chest press would contribute much to CPS (as opposed to, say, typing all day with a crappy keyboard for years, which is why it usually happens).

  • scotty, i tried following your pointers, but i get swelling/pain on my acromion after doing this. which part am i not doing correctly?

  • if i can do 300 at 165lbs...is that good?

  • Thanks for the nice instruction, man

  • why are you working out without a shirt?

  • @oooanthonyooo

Maybe because then his shirt won't get wet.

  • pull up your pants

  • In my gym they have start help levers to get it to the starting position which is pretty damn nice to have

  • scott is probably the best workout instructor on youtube.

  • nice demo. I'm new to weight training and the demos are helping me do better with the machines. Thanks.

  • How many reps for toning?

  • @11tobiobito high reps or till failure

  • These kind of machines really grind my shoulders. Can't use them.

  • Hi Scott, while doing the Chest Press, do you actually let the weights touch each other between each push, or do you make sure that the weights never touch each other until you finish your entire routine with chest press ? Thanks

  • @xeer0w That's a very good question! I'm wondering that myself...

  • Do you use machines often?

  • "make sure that your coming at a 90 degree angle" .... gigity

  • so how would this be more beneficial than doing a pushup if you can't do more weight than your body already is?

  • @Picapacapopo exactly.. good point bro

  • 0:20 OMFG

  • when choosing the correct weight to use, how many reps should you be able to do before you hit momentary muscular failure?

  • @ImPrettyCoolMyself 6-8 reps if you are trying to build mass.

  • Nice... i watch nearly oll your vids...

  • put a shirt on, youre not impressing anyone

  • @zrx7769 then don't watch the videos, he has an amazing body you envious!

  • @franzzsh amazing body? yeah if you like skinny fitness fags

  • Yea i learned a lil bit

  • Thanks for the help man, we use cybex at our gym, and I always watch how others do it to make sure I get the full workout... your vids help a lot.

  • Anybody using machines in gyms shuld be laughed at. Pressing a weight seated on a chair, where the weight has been stabilised and balanced for you serves no purpose. Sure fine way to get yourslef injured. Instead do pressups and progress to pressups on rings, then pressups in a handstand. You'll get twice as fit in half the time and it will work your whole body - this is how the body works in real life / sports / manual labour etc

  • pwnd

  • @MikeEves1 I agree with you, but you are less likely to get injured on the machines than with free weights.

  • @NiNjaTurtLe697 probably because people who use machines give up very soon as they 0% effective. Machines do not follow the natural movement of the body. You have to follow the machine (crazy) and this is why you get alignment problems with people who use them, not only injuries.

Much better using body weight exercises with progressions to rings, handstands etc.

  • Hey Scott, how long did it take you to reach this stage of fitness/conditioning? How much in terms of the regularity of training and types of training.

You dont look particularly hypertrophied but you seem strong. Why do you think that is?

  • Nice instruction, without the cocky attitude of so many Gym Instructors!

  • Thanks ! :)

  • I don't see that as cocky more like confidence plus.

  • I have witnessed many arrogant gym instructors,as oppose to classy educated fitness ins. like Scott H. Many especially in the 90's were full of roids which didn't help the persona!

  • @WisconsinRun I totally agree!!!

@Scott, Aweome body. I'm a female and I must admit that i was looking at your body more than listening to instructions :) But I still got what I need to do! Thanks :)

  • That's chest incline

  • How many exercises do u do on each muscles? is it best keeping it low around 4 ? and how many sets?

  • Hey man. Am I supposed to have my back completely flat against the seat or slightly arched while pressing? Because, arching it and then going back against the seat allow to press more weight.

  • why the machine instead of free weight?:

  • @masondarko I've always wondered that myself! Machines are for lazy arses or for people who don't know any better.

  • @MikeEves1 The only time i use machines are like at the 3rd or 4th exercise in my chest routine. my pet peeve is when people are on a machine for 10 minutes using 10lbs while talking at the same time.

  • @73Nateman I would take all seated exercises out of any routine; far better and more effective things that can be done instead. One of the main reasons why people have such poor postural allignment is because they sit down far too much and then they include seated exercises. They just don't get it - but each to his own,

  • Scott,

  • scott, can yOU have bigger muscles than now,or are you at the end of your genetics?

  • yea can u

  • yes he can but i dont think he wants too gain muscle quickly because i think he wants his abs too show because you gain the most muscle when you eat the most which equals fat
