  • The bravest players in the land were captain Billy and his band, that's Frank the Lamp, Alan Dev, Paul and Stewart and Tricky Trev.

  • I was there too, Great day

  • quality want the whole match

  • We must be the biggest underacheivers EVER.

We had some genuine world class players in that team: Devsonshire, Brooking and Parkes in goal. Added to that some other great players like Stewart, Lampard, Bonds, Martin and a fantastic manager in John Lyall, just how were we in the second division?

  • just curious, why do neither team have their home kit on? They both appear to be in their away uniforms. Anyone know?

  • my dad was there

  • i am italian fans west ham

  • wish I could go back to 1980, LOL.

  • I'm forever blowing bubbles,

    Pretty bubbles in the air.

    They fly so high,

    Nearly reach the sky,

    Then like my dreams,

    They fade and die.

    Fortune's always hiding,

    I've looked everywhere,

    I'm forever blowing bubbles,

    Pretty bubbles in the air.

  • The one thing I remember apart from the glorious feeling of beating the Arsenal was the Willie Young tackle on Paul Allen and Allen trudging off the pitch in tears. it was a glorious day and one I will never forget.

  • Hope West Ham beat Arsenal in the FA Cup this Season.

  • I am a Hammer too, and like sweetdaddy6262, this was the match which cemented my lifelong allegiance. I work with an Arsenal fan, and he always says Trev fell over......and do you know what, it pisses him off soooo much more when I agree with him, lol! There's not many bright moments being a Hammer, but this was a great day. I also agree with the comments about how FA Cup Final used to be THE big day in the football calendar, how sad to see those times pass.....

  • he defo fell over, he told some1 once that he slip n the ball hit fes head

  • everton sould of won the semi, was at both matches at villa park and elland road lol

  • I was there

    never forget the day "IRONS"

  • remember when ITV & BBC used to show the final so you could choose....The build ups started earlier each year. Those were the days......I was an ITV man. What was your choice at the time people?

  • i havent seen this since it happened. this is the moment i became a west ham fan. since then it's been 28 yrs of misery and disappointment.

  • pwned! hahaha

  • i've been a hammers fan since the day i was born, to say misery and disappointment, makes you sound like a glory hunter, there have been many great moments. Being a hammer is the greatest glory you can ever have. WHUFC for life and death.

  • initially i thought you were taking the piss, but after a very short moment of reflection i realised my error. you're absolutely right - it has been the greatest glory of my life.

  • There was me thinking you had an endearing self-depreciating sense of humour, SD! I'm a Hammer too, but I think we should be allowed take the piss out of ourselves, especially when mugs like Bochka think we're serious, that we would prefer being plastic Man U, Chelsea, etc goons... jokes' on him. I have all I want being a WH fan- a PROPER football team. However, the Hammers are on the up & up. But regardless, I'll always be a Hammer. All we have to do is believe, & our faith will be rewarded.
