Warning- Hoped this'd be music- No- 3 guys with small vocabularies struggling a lot to say little- The word 'great' was popular allround- They must've had dead air to fill at the TV station
@mcdstuff My thoughts exactly. After all his years on the air you would think he'd have enough in the bank so he wouldn't have to sell his soul for a Fox News paycheck. He grew up working class and now shills for a network that is nothing more than a mouthpiece for corporate interests without a conscience.
it's amazing to me that these guys are getting paid to sit there & yack around. Talking in circles , saying nothing. Seinfeld thought HIS show was about nothing !?
I met Lou Rufino and it was the most unbeleivable experience that I've ever had. He was great...he was great...it was a great experience...there are no words for it...it was a moment...he's one of a kind....he's such a great guy.
I met both Levon and Rick Danko at a bar in Modesto,CA where they played. Later we went back stage and listened to two local girls play and sing. I will never forget how nice the guys were. They suggested a home cooked meal would be nice, but at the time I wasn't much of a cook.So sorry guys. If we meet again I would cook a great big breakfast for you!
that comment was meant to show tones4me whata bullshit artist doof he or she is- that post was only 7 months old(so as of today's date that was posted sometime in 2008) Rick passed away in Dec 1999.
Don, please take off the cowboy hat. You aren't a cowboy and if you are amazed that this band isn't awesome then that tells me you have no clue about this music.
hi there, i want you to know that I am Moroccan, North africa, and that I have discovered country music 23 years ago or more, that's the only music I listen to now that I am forty.
No one else did a better job of promoting live music on radio and television than Don Imus. The state of the art studio at MSNBC was a fabulous staging area for artists ranging from Vince Gill, Dwight Yoakam, Delbert McClinton, Patty Loveless, Mark Knopfler, Emmylou Harris and on and on. Lou's great affection for Levon Helm is typical of what Imus brought to his loyal audience on a weekly basis for many years.
Well said, Imus can be criticized for a lot of things but his appreciation and promotion of good music and artists is second to none. Lou Ruffino is great on this clip, talk about genuine ... just great, thanks for posting this.
As a drummer I have great respect for Levon Helm. No he is not a technician but a very skilled and very tasteful drummer. Not to mention his writing and singing. Destined for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
living in europe, and old enough to have have known both Beatles and The Band, I must say that The Band had more musical depth, less influenced by commerce making pure music connected to the roots of the old American tradition.
but, not everything he said was true. not everyone was standing the whole show. but it was one of the best nights of my life. i cant believe this guy forgot to mention garth tho.
I was there and everything they say is true. I also cried when I saw Garth. And when Jimmy Vivino sand Tears of Rage in an exact cover from the album, and you saw Levon play drums -- unbelievable. People were standing thoughout the entire show and were jumping up and down.
Didn't Sammy do a great job?! He came out to do 'Fanny Mae' looking kind of frail, and started with the harmonica, then began booming out the vocals - his performance just floored me! One of hundreds of highlights from that unbelievable night of music!
I most certainly have seen it. I just don't think that I was saying that Scorcese NECESSARILY had to REMAKE "The Last Waltz". You misinterpretted my comments....in BOTH of my posts. NOTHING sarcastic at all.
Everything they say is true- we were up in the nosebleeds and it still was an amazing experience, and I cried when I saw Garth. It was lik eyou were seeing something youd never see again. It was so touching when Levon touched his heart and put it out to the audience. I wish they had a better pic of L in this clip though it looks like one of those in memorian shots haha. Thanks for the post!
