My personal review:

I don't think that the guard loved the queen but felt some sort of attactment to her, she kinda did take his heterosexual virginity. I think he loved the king but not as the king loved him, I think that this entire movie is his awakening to love and learning it both through the affections of the king and queen. But in the end the king has the number one spot in his heart.
