I am so happy for you, you look amazing after Accutane regime. I know how acne feel likes. I have very mild acne and my Derma has prescribed me 20gm Accutane for 20 days and 10gm Accutane for another 20 days. One tab once in a day. I have been on minomycin (antibiotic) which really didnt respond. I really dont know what Accutane will do and how will I react in this 40 days of treatment but fingures crossed. lol... I am here to review ur video and instead strated telling my story. Gr8 Video :)
@foreverzub Thank you for sharing your story! I'm surprised that you were given accutane if your acne is mild. My dermatologists always wait until a patient has very severe acne. As you're still going through treatment, you'll have some good days and bad days (as I'm sure you can tell from my video). Your dosage is fairly small so you shouldn't have hardly any adverse reactions. I hope it all works out :)
I hate using moisturizer. Will it damage my skin if I do not use moisturizer at all while on accutane? I am on week 15 of my accutane course and my acne is gone. But I just started using moisturizer to combat the dryness. I'm using coconut oil. Is that bad? Please help! I am deathly afraid of another break out!!!!!
@Vocalist1993 Break outs are inevitable while on accutane, and even shortly after. I personally cannot tell you that coconut oil will do the same effects as a moisturizer would. You should ask your doctor what is best, good luck.
@lavfisch thanks :) oh and I learned that coconut oil clogs my pores. It makes it really smooth, but I hate black heads. So no to coconut oil. cetaphil is the way to go :))
@mrserio2009 Well I was going to put up a video sooner or later, but after about a year and a half my skin is doing really well. I have only an occasional breakout and almost none of them are cystic! Any side effects have gone away since my treatment and with regular washing I hardly even need spot treatment.
I'm on really low dose of accutane, only 40 mg for 2 weeks and then only 20 mg(one pill) for the rest of my course..how come? and I wouldn't say my acne is moderate,it's bad.
@byakabuku I'm not sure exactly why your doctor put you on a lower dosage. Almost always it is because they think that is best for your body chemistry and metabolism. The levels that I was given were really quite higher than my body was ready for...and I had a lot of health issues that stemmed from that. Try talking to your doctor if you think it isn't doing the trick. Good luck!
wow. it looks like you had a lot of ups and downs. The results for you are AMAZING though! My accutane course is 16 weeks. I am on week 13 now at 60mg per day. Once my 16 weeks is up, I am staying on 40mg every other day (low dosage). Congratulations! Here is my accutane blog.
@Vocalist1993 Thanks for the compliment, after years of dermatological visits I'm happy to at least have things under control. I hope that your treatment is going well. Keep in mind that although my skin is MUCH clearer than it used to be, there are still occasional breakouts if I don't wash regularly. Also I still use a spot treatment like Differin every so often.
@Ameranth92 The red marks should all fade by the time you've been off of accutane for a month or two. If they don't it is mostly likely scarring left from the acne, and you can talk to your doctor about what to do about that. Good luck!
@INFECTEDshow It's been a year and two months since I finished treatment. I don't remember the exact number for the cholesterol that I had while on medication but it was around that of (as my doctor put it) "a 50 year old man who is morbidly obese." It only was that high because they had me on too high a dosage for the accutane at that time and my body didn't process it well. It decreased as soon as the dosage was lowered. Now it is in the range from average to below average, which is good.
@yoldashh Accutane is virtually the last medication that dermatologists suggest because it is the strongest one they can prescribe. If your skin has any problems, it should be able to get rid of them.
@yoldashh yh it does and it stops the growth rate of them too to the extent that yu don't get them anymore. I'm currently on accutane now n i'm only experiencing the odd one which quickly goes away.
@vanthegr8 I had a prescription for Differin at the time that I was only supposed to use for spot treatments. But my skin was so fragile while on the medication that if I used it too often, I had bad peeling and it just didn't really work.
@PolakFury In the past year since being off of Accutane, I've only needed to wash my face regularly. If any trouble spots arose the dermatologist had me using products like Tazorac or Differin on them. At first I needed to use the creams once a day but now it's down to a few times a month.
youre a star for putting your pictures up! it really help taking photos every week, I did too. Roaccutane is definitely a miracle drug. Hope your skin is well!
@newlight0 Thank you so much for your comment! It was really nice, and my skin (after a full year now) is great! I hope that if you use it, your skin is doing great too :)
@Aupas Congrats on starting Accutane, all of my aches and pains stopped after I was about a month without taking it anymore. If you have any adverse effects, they should stop about that long after taking it (when it's all out of your system). Good luck!
@TheGscale The scars may not go away immediately depending on your skin type and sun exposure. It took my skin another month after the six months of treatment for scarring to go away. Best of luck!
@dedude808 It isn't mandatory to take the birth control pills. You and your dermatologist can talk about an option that may be better suited for you. No matter what you do need two types of contraceptives on file (even if you're not sexually active) just for the sake of how the FDA runs distribution of the pills. A lot of times people may just have abstinence and male condoms as their option.
On how much did they give you?? I'm on 20 mg week 2 and I see sone improvements or maybe it be could it be possible it working fast ??? Help please reply asap???
@Noni136631 For everyone, the treatment is a little bit different. I didn't really see any significant improvements for months. But I had a severe case of acne and had to take 40 mg twice a day (80 mg a day total) which got knocked down to 60 mg a day towards the end of my treatment.
can i ask you ONE thing i am also a girl and i want to start with roa accutane buth you need 2 birtcontrols one month before you use it(i am living in te netherlands)
so what did you use?
it sounds so heavy 3pills what is the best for your body?
@singerlisa12 I was under my two birth controls as 1) male condoms and 2) birth control pills. You can go over other options with your doctor if you want to. No matter what, don't give up hope when you start the treatment! Good luck!
@19may0001 Both men and women can take this. I'd definitely do it if you're interested. I know about three other people who've done it and we all have great results.
@singerlisa12 The accutane is not a quick fix or a permanent one. The treatment typically lasts five or six months by bascially shrinking the pores in the skin. That being said you are still going to have to make sure the pores stay clean (only now just by a gentle cleanser not topical treatments). A few blemishes may come around every now and again but it's nothing like before. If the acne does come back in full swing usually one more treatment of the accutane does the trick!
