@yx92ify The shoes are actually really hard and it does take a lot of training and practice to be able to dance on them correctly, but you're not dancing on your toes in ballet slippers or anything :)

i taught myself this variation. after fifteen years of ballet, i really think this is an extremely difficult piece. viviana presents it so gracefully. she makes ballet look so easy, which is the essential factor of being a ballerina. i've never seen anyone so calm and serene while dancing. i dont think people realize how difficult this piece is to dance, because she looks so graceful. as a ballerina, its truly amazing to watch.

It should still be "beautiful and full of life" obviously, but I do not think it should "scream youth and happiness". I enjoy this more mature, elegant approach to the variation.

Actually it matters. The ballerina has to be just the right size so as not to tower over her male companion when she is on full point. As I said Viviana is a nice dancer but on the small side. Darcy Bussel was the perfect height.. 5.7 and 6.2 respectively

I like Viviana but she is a wee bit too small for Aurora. What I don't get is if she can dance the leading female roles why couldn't Wayne Sleep dance the leading male roles.. they're both on the short side with exceptional techniques

The size of the ballerina for the role of Aurora doesn't matter! Don't you know that it doesn't matter what a ballerina looks like, regardless of her size?!! I'm just saying.

In most cases the smaller male dancers never dance those leading rolls. Yes, I know what your thinking and I agree, it is discriminatory . But then again,aesthetics has always trumped politics in art,especially ballet

I guess that Cira Robinson has talent enough to be in a major Ballet Company, yet I have no idea why she isn't.

I guess a problem would be that ballet is more of a European pastime, and all other races are into their own culture and such.

there is something more than just being happy at her birthday party...when I performed this role (I was 18 at the time), my teacher advised exploring what it was like when I turned 16 (or 18 in some productions) - for me that included feelings of anticipation, hope, love, and even sexuality and sadness. I think Vivian does a beautiful job expressing the whole range of emotions of this role. Especially if you consider she is probably some number of years older than 16/18 when she performed this
