you can send it into microsoft by filling out a form online and you can get it repaired for free. its on xbox.com somewhere in their. I had a friend do it for me and I have another fully working xbox 360 for free. No shipping or handling at all.
The towel trick is the dumbest thing ever...Sure...go ahead and super-heat the system board to make it so hot, the solder melts and runs off and connects two prongs that are different voltages, or different currents. Simplified: Fry Xbox360, or just set your whole house on fire...
the changing of the positioning of lights is normal yeah, there is an accelerometer in the 360 that can tell whether you have the xbox tilted vertically or horizontally, and then changes the lights accordingly, as to make it easier to read which player is which and stuff. get the rrod fixed by microsoft, they'll do it for free because the problem is so common. (they did for mine at least) ring up the help line to find out just in case though!
@staticking29 hey dude i got that too and the way that i fixed it (because i wen to the microsoft website) i just disconnected all the electricity wires for the xbox waited a few minutes and plug them back in
Your Xbox 360 must be in the within the conditions to be repaired at no cost: No tampering (See Microsoft Seal on the front of the Xbox 360 Console), You MUST have a warranty
