Thank you so much for posting this, this brings back so many memories!! I still remember getting my beret and shield as one of the proudest moments of my life; I didn't fully understand during that time that I would be in the company of the finest people I would ever know in my lifetime. Security Police/Security Specialist 1981-1992
At 3:30 it mentioned 4 men at Bunker 51. It was five men in that Bunker. My buddy Alonzo Coggins was in that bunker also. After repeated hit by enemy and friendly forces, Alonzo walked out of that Bunker alive. To this very day, I can see Alonzo walking away from that bunker. The 377th Security Police Squadron saved the Ton Son Nhut Air Base that day. Sgt Charles Hebron was from my hometown of Bryan Texas. January 31, 1968 will forever live in my life.
Great program. In Jan. 31, 1967 NVA attack on Bunker 051, Tan Son Nhut, five men of 377th SPS took the attack. Four, named in the clip, died. Sgt. Alonzo Coggins was so wounded that NVA apparently believed him dead and left him the next day. Sgt. Coggins was just recently recognized and awarded the Silver Star for his part in the 5-man team's determined defense against overwhelming odds. I can provide documentary evidence if needed.
I'm a proud father of a young man that just finished his third tour in Iraq. I know freedom of speech is one of our great rights....but I'm some what disappointed in what I'm reading. Did some of you forget about 9-11. Would you be writing the same comments if the War was brought to America and we had no young women and men to fight for our freedom.OH you forgot the war was brought to us on 9-11. God bless all of our Military.
Hey Im thinking about joining SF myself, and I was wondering Ive heard from alot of people it is a boring job..alot of just standing in front of gates checkin i.d's n what not. In more detail, what all do you do? Im aware that they go outside the wire, but there main priority is base work. If someone can get back to me (preferably a current or ex SF member) Thanks.
im 919th SOMS, but SF has a HUGE responsability. its rough, its dangerous, and its not like a "chair force" when you deploy (and u WILL deploy often) ...then again, you are volunteering to protect our country, integrty first, service before self, and excellence in all we do" HOOAH
hua!!! im in security forces tech school right yeah we do boring briefings and crappy details at times but i love this country i love this airforce and i love this military and this is the only thing i can see myself doing
it is hooah. and air force is 2 different words. good luck though, because you will be one of the first to deploy. so pay attn to what you learn; it WILL save your life.
Hey bro to answer your question, yeah SF sometimes has to work at the gate, but both of my deployments have been OTW (outside the wire) so im not to sure about how often we do it but it is part of our job.
i'm sorry to hear about your loss. its always traumatic. from personal experience i would suggest going to group, and CRY...you have to let loose, we're all human...we all need to vent, and we need to cope. dont be afraid to seek help.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@MadMaxUSVN i just finished bmt today im gonna record a video of me in my blues just to make u look stupid i also have the vid of me marching down the bomb run im gonna try to upload the vid of that just to put the iceing on the cake
Outstanding video. 17 years and I still wear the SF shield today. Im proud to wear it, Im proud of everyone that wears it. In the ratholes of the world unarmed defenseless people sleep easy because of the men and women who are ready to do extrememe violence to anyone who dares cause harm. To anyone who doesnt like us, grab and rifle and stand a post. Then you are allowed an opinion.
Still awaiting orders to kunsan ab, graduated sf tech school 06OCT09 and it's 03:54 in the morning and was feeling pretty depressed to know that I don't see my girl, my mom and close friends. But then I realized that these are the same trails those before me and after me will pass through. We're one big family and we are all we have down range. This video has helped me make it through another night. Perhaps it will do the same for others.
i kno wat u mean man im gonna miss my girl and my close friends and family. but this is the price we all pay for serving our country and to have the freedoms that we have today
I was Security Forces for 6 years, best time of my life. I was in basic when the towers fell, and tech school was a little different back then... Through your career, you'll feel the draw of complacentcy. Don't give into it, and always remember the point of your job. To protect the men and women beside you, and the people you care about at home. Be careful out there, and watch your back even when you think it's safe. We only go to Hell to regroup, we always come back.
throat choking beautiful video - Minot (70), Dyess (73-74), Guam (TDY 73), and Vietnam (71-72) at Tan Son Nhut. I know many troops who served in the 377th SPS during the mentioned TET Offense as I was there after them. To those before me, with me, and after me - continue to make us proud. WE ARE THE BEST - proven in combat
reverum who ever you are, "I" pitty you. As if "WE" want this war, as if "WE" love to kill innocent people. Ask ANYONE in the Military, I GUARANTEE we would want NOTHING MORE than for this WAR to be over & come back home to be with our loved ones. NONE of this would be happening if "they" would of just left us alone. You obviously forgot about Sept. 11. Do some research on it & ask yourself the SAME question! INNOCENT people DIED! You tell me what YOU will say when YOU look into THEIRS
and that was vietnam, this has what to do with now?
what would YOU say to those who died during the warsaw uprigsing in 1944?
I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to
listen sounds like the same BS I heard coming home from VietNam. You see what you want to see NOT what is the truth. You would never make the grade as SF. I am PROUD to be a SP/SF we all are.

To all and future AP/SP/SF troops after spending 20 year 2 mo and 14 days serving next to some of the braves and most dedicated personnel, i am pleased to see our spirt has not been broken or bowed but only stronger. Behind that shield we all travel our path and no matter what we do withthe rest of our lives we will always wear it on our chests God bless and Keep you in your work
The SF course is tough, but someone has to do it. We may not be liked much by others but damn it we protect those who defend this nation regardless. Im proud to be a Defender. God bless.
An unbelievable tribute to all who served in this career field. The day before viewing this, I found my old blue beret with my harness. I cried with joy and honor then and the day after. God Bless all these heroes past and present. Sgt. Bob Klees Malmstrom AFB 1975-77
@padre1052 Hahahaha, I'm digging mine out now of my duffel bag pull of my old BDU's and gear. I have a shadow box with my badge, ribbons, etc., that it needs to set on (with my old SAC patch!!!) I went to the Security Forces museum last summer, boy it sure changed from '81. It was hard to keep from crying walking through there. So cool to meet a SF working at the Museum on casual before going on to Malmstrom. Sharp troop, made me feel that SF was being passed on to competent hands!!
Very moving. Most people do not realize what the men and women of our armed forces do for the sake of our freedom everyday. May God bless each of you and our great nation. Thank You for your service.
I was SP from 1983-1989 stationed at Grand Forks,Elmendorf and Pease.I loved every minute of it and regret ever leaving the Air Force and the SP career field.I was stationed with a lot of good people who i know share the same feelings. This video brought back alot of great memories.Bravo to the person who made it.
I just graduated the SF Academy in the latest graduating class. I fully look forward to taking my place in the career field. This video is motivational beyond all reason for a new cop!
I found this video moving and emotional to a point not having been before. I knew several of the COPS mentioned. This is powerful and should be forwarded to as many AP/SP/SF people as we can find. I will have it listed on the Cops of Clark AB site. Whoever made with video I say damn good job.
I am proud to say I served with the best of the best. I was with the 841st SPS Malmstrom AFB, 377SPS Tan Son Nhut AB RVN, 91st SPS Minot AFB ND, and 966 WSSF Ohara IAP. Scurity Forces all the way.... Thanks to all my brothers and sisters. Welcome home
Nice job.I was LE and Security from 72/77. Was a member of a SPES Unit and was on standby for the Mayagueze incident while on Guam. As we all know you are not in the military unless you are an SF or Para Rescue, Air Force wise that is. I still have my shield after all these years. God Speed to all the Security Guys!!!!!!!
great job on the video where can i get a copy of this. my unit is currently deployed. I am putting together a video for them for when they return home.
Great tribute but one correction. I was a dog handler in the PI familiar with Bob Gray. Bob was killed in a washout and his dog Casey was injured. However, Casey survived and eventually died of old age in 1983.
What a great tribute to the blue beret. I served as an SP from 73-77, and can see how far the career field has come. I am a proud SP vet and a AFSPA/VSPA member, and wear my SP ring proudly. To all those that have served we are a family, and to those serving as a SF member, thanks for your sacrifice at this time in history, our country needs you. Being a SP was the cornerstone for my career in civilian police work, and I am a better cop for it. God Bless all the past and present AP, SP and SF.
Thank you for doing a great job on the video. I am proud to have wore a Beret from April 86-August 95 in places such as Spangdahlem AB Germany, Fairchild AFB WA.,Elmendorf AFB AK, and oh yeah those trips to Kunsan and Osan AB for Foul Eagle. I wore the Beret with pride and set an example for others to follow. Starched uniforms and boots like glass. That is the uniform of a United States Air Force Security Policeman. Take Pride. Blessed is the Peacekeeper and may God Bless all who have served.
To all DEFENDERS! This SECURITY FORCE MEMORIAL screwed me up for the past few days, People around me are wondering whats wrong with me lately, but they wont understand! Ive been out for 22 years and the instincts are still there! Thank you to the DEFENDER/PEACEKEEPER who left this video to watch and not letting for me forget who I was! THE PEACEKEEPERS:DEFENSOR FORTIS for ever!
I served from 1980 to 1992. Osan AB, Dyess AFB, Comiso AS, Grand Forks AFB, Suwon AB and Little Rock AFB. Deployed many times including Desert Storm. This tribute literally brought tears to my eyes. I'll be sharing it with many others. "Sierra Hotel", job well done!
if your gonna join SF you are gonna have to get in the mindset that you'll deploy, most of the amn i went thru tech w have deployed. when u get to basic you fill out a form saying where u wanna get stationed, most overseas bases deploy and most CONUS ones as well.
well i just like to say thank you to rustyknight98 for this commerative video! great job im currently a E2 in SF stationed at FE Warren in cheyenne WY, this video really pays the gratitude and thanks to our brothers in SF thru history. not a lot of people are familar with what has been accomplished in history especially during veitnam and Khobar towers.
Hey, im joining the airforce and i'm doing 4 year term and i want to do security forces ..knowing you have experience with it, how much of a chance is there that i'll be sent to iraq? lol
ill answer that question, it is 95% likely that you will go to iraq or afghanistan atleast once but most likely 2 or possibly 3 times over a 4 to 6 year period
i didnt see anyone trying to use big words telling other haters to not comment on this. here is a clue for you: if you dont want something getting ripped on dont post it on YOUTUBE! a memorial isnt supposed to be posted up for people to comment on anyway.
They weren't thinking about what uniform they were wearing. They were thinking about those around them. Just be proud that those same young men and women decided to raise their hand to defend the Constitution.
For the petty-minded, every branch of service has its heroes. It is by no means limited to some "elite" group. Each branch depends on the other in one form or another. They were created to interact to ensure the safety and security of our nation and ensure the freedom we all enjoy. If you would perhaps look through your fog of uninformed bigotry, you might realize that each one of them was an American serving America and her people. It doesn't matter what branch they belonged to.
People - this is supposed to be a tribute to airmen who have given their utmost sacrifice for their country. This is not a forum for your petty, narrow-minded beliefs. I wish I had checked this earlier before the juvenile comments got out of hand. I will block any user that has nothing useful to say about the subject of this video.
Why are you guys ruining such a nice tribute with petty arguing and service rivalries? My nephew went in the Marines and we did this kind of thing at a backyard BBQ in good natured ribbing, but when he was in Iraq during the initial invasion and pinned down, he said he was never so glad to hear those Air Force planes slamming the enemy. We are all on the same team and fighting for the same country. argue about this somewhere else? May God bless you all especially while engaging the enemy.
predfan1981 is pretty much uninformed. sorry to say. give a little credit to some other SF airmen who have done more than you for instance ever heard of CAMP BUCCA? or 365's for our growing "in lieu of" (ILO) mission for training the iraqi police. I myself am an active duty SF member at Andrews AFB and we are starting to take more and more casualties each day. you probably got posted at a gate each day cause you couldnt handle the responsibility of a patrol. look up the 732 ESFS
I served 10 years back when SF was split Law Enforcement and Security. Served 4 yrs w/the
3rd SPG at Clark Air Base, Philipines. Proudest years of my life. To those of you that have worn that shield, and continue to wear it, Thank you. I am proud to call you my brothers. God Bless you all.
To my Comrades take care of yourselves be safe in whatever your doing in the SF career field or anything your doing Ill always be watching your back Thanks For Having Mine. (Deploying hotzone soon as M2 gunner) Im both frightened and excited but my comrades give me the courage I need Thanks again To all you out there.
I, too, was a member of the 437th when it was called the 437 SPS. Charleston AFB was an awesome assignement. The only bad part was when my buddy, a North Charleston PD Officer was shot and killed on 18FEB85. He had just stopped at the main gate to talk to me when he got the fatal call. We are a brotherhood; one that nobody can break EVER!!
this was awesome. this is probably the best SF video that i have ever seen. i am an active duty Security Forces Airman i am stationed in charleston sc with the 437th SFS
What a fantastic tribute. We must continue to honor our defenders of freedom. Our SP,SP and now SF's and finally getting the respect and recondition they deserve.
This is an outstanding tribute to the men and women, past and present who have been the defenders of the USAF. Whether they be known as Air Police, Security Police or Security Forces they have stood the test of battle as a warrior. I am proud to have been one of them and will always remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice with their lives and to those who have served as a defender, past, present and future. I salute you!

This is an awesome tribute to all my fellow SF brothers and sisters past, present and future. To all the Defenders I salute you. See you guys in Afghanistan. Hooah.

OUTSTANDING!! We as DEFENDERS are of over worked under apreciated breed whom some of which forgot our history and those who sacraficed everything and those who still do.
I was an honor grad of the SP academy, and an Air Base ground defender found this memorial to be very moving. I would like to thank the person who put it together it tells people of the combat forces in the USAF, and there sacrifice. I was stationed at 52nd SPS Spangdahlem AB Germany / Arhatch AB Turkey, and Tinker AFB OK. I still have my beret, and will always be proud to be a defender for some must watch.
This is an awesome tribute to the Air Force Peacekeepers/Defenders. Blessed is the PeaceKeeper for the Cross and Flag, I shall forever Defend. I proudly wore the Beret from 86-95 with the 52 SPS Spangdahlem AB Germany, 92 SPS Fairchild AFB WA and with the 21st/3rd SPS Elmendorf AFB AK. My Beret hangs in my gun cabinet as a reminder of the life I loved and left behind many years ago. May God Bless all who serve our great nation. Long Live the Defender.
I spent 21 years as a Air Force Cop before they became Security Forces. Best Career Field I could have ever wanted. Super Video. They should show this at every class starting the Security Forces Academy.

If someone can get back to me (preferably a current or ex SF member) Thanks.
sk8tex281 1 year ago
im 919th SOMS, but SF has a HUGE responsability. its rough, its dangerous, and its not like a "chair force" when you deploy (and u WILL deploy often) ...then again, you are volunteering to protect our country, integrty first, service before self, and excellence in all we do" HOOAH

it is hooah. and air force is 2 different words. good luck though, because you will be one of the first to deploy. so pay attn to what you learn; it WILL save your life.

Hey bro to answer your question, yeah SF sometimes has to work at the gate, but both of my deployments have been OTW (outside the wire) so im not to sure about how often we do it but it is part of our job.

We only go to Hell to regroup, we always come back.

reverum who ever you are, "I" pitty you.

I spent 21 years as a Air Force Cop before they became Security Forces. Best Career Field I could have ever wanted. Super Video. They should show this at every class starting the Security Forces Academy.
