Sheamus was meant to be a Brock Lesnar type character. It could have worked if it had been booked better. Lesnar never held a midcard title, but he was still a strong champion because he has the presence to be WWE Champion. Sheamus has all of Lesnar's qualities, but he just wasn't booked propperly. Lesnar had credible wins over people like Ric Flair and the Undertaker. Sheamus never beat anybody. Also Lesnar came up in 6 months-ish, not 2 months.
They're all weak champions...I gave up on WWE shortly after Wrestlemania X7...I was lucky enough to watch this live and foreshadowed the unfortunate decline of mainstream wrestling as we know it. I guess it was resolution for me. It was like watching an empire fall to the gutter. Randy Orton and Batista came along and I knew they had to replace the roster but at the cost of loveable and believable acting for the sake of Mountain Dew drinking extreme UFC watching douchebags. I agree that puting the title on Sheamus is a mistake, but hopfully this mistake turns into somthing good. Hopfully they give the belt to someone like Kofi, or Someone of his caliber. hell I'll even take HBk or HHH again, but seeing as how they hold the tag belts, that aint happening. The British Bulldog wrestled from 1978 to 2000 (22 years) and never held the title and now you have newbies come in for four months and win it. Davey Boy held one of the greatest matches in WWF history were he won the IC belt over Bret Hart. They have done what they have to the IC belt to the Title belt, lost the prestige. AS Bobby Heenan would say any ham and egger can win it!!!!!!

Christian on the other hand IMO could definitely hold the strap and even though he's on ECW he most certainly has the ability to be a top guy like Edge. Razor Ramon made a name for himself never touching the WWF title.
Giving a newbie the WWE title doesn't mean he's a star now. Likewise, wrestlers have become stars without ever touching the WWE title.

Hardly do you have someone come straight in and dominate, but WWE needed someone badly who could compete with Cena. People are tired of seeing Orton vs Cena, and Swagger and the Miz going over Cena just doesn't work, and using someone like Carlito is a step backwards. So bringing in Sheamus was the only solution. Unless you want Ezekial Jackson or Koslov in matches with Cena. They need big men, Kane, Henry, Show have already competed with Cena, and you have to reserve Undertaker.

Sheamus is beaten by two dudes out of a technicality that they aren't even wrestlers.
Khali was pretty fucking horrible any shape or form. Stan Stasiak held the belt for like 8 days and became history's most forgettable transitional. Sheamus is the champ NOW and nobody knows who the hell he is.

@RantNRavinFection Shelton does not have the ability to carry a world title IMO. Sure he may seem great in the ring but the man needs subtitles on screen to understand what he's saying that alone will prevent him from being champion. Owen didn't have the draw power Morrison is the same and perfect, steamboat and razor were all at a time when the IC title was very strong and almost as prestigious as the world title, granted some could have made the leap but you could hardly fault the wwe TBC...

Christian on the other hand IMO could definitely hold the strap and even though he's on ECW he most certainly has the ability to be a top guy like Edge. Sheamus though is not bad, having the strap put on u early does not mean your bad, it's not his fault they decided to put the strap on him early but if u watched ECW you'd know that the man was getting good heel responses & will end up being a good HEEL main-eventer.

I most certainly agree that putting the belt on Sheamus this soon was not the smart thing to do, but come kill the belts credibility? Hardly. I'm confident that Sheamus in the long haul will prove to be a worthy HEEL main-eventer that's just my opinion. I don't necessarily have a problem with Sheamus being champion I just think, like you said, that he needs more time to develop an onscreen persona and to actually get over with the fans. Agreed. The cars from 1960-1980 were the best (design wise) !. They are still appealing to the eyes. I still get really exited when I see a car from the 1910s to the 1950s.
