I think the reason they dont like this song is because they are now "pop" i.e. popular. This song is against the press not pop. and it makes it very clear. But they would be very hypercritical to play it live

mmh they're certainly not a "pop" group, their music is softer, something of a rock/pop sure, but they're still an indie band, not the kind of things you'll hear on the radio every day, so i don't see why it would be hypocritical for them to play it live... besides i believe they hate most of their Pablo Honey and some of their The Bends songs too, their style has changed so much since...

the word "pop" is so inaccurate anyway. rock, punk, whatever, all of those *are* popular music. although since the grunge movement it refers more and more specifically to commercialized popular music. but that's for marketing purpose more than anything.
