I wonder if Boeing will eventually re-engine the 777 with a derivative of this new engine? If so, then they would definitely increase the durability of what I consider the BEST intercontinental airframe built. Sure, the 747-8 is a sweet plane, but who wants to pay for 4 engines when the 777 does the same on less fuel?
@hawktb9 yea, i think they probably will and also do a couple other tweaks at that time as well. i'm guessing winglets and then some weight-saving measures.
@hpcwsd I do not need a position at GE to know that they are number one in the Turbine engine business. They are number one and you don't like it, but whinning to me is not going to make RR number 1 but if it makes you feel better, then I don't mind
