  • You have an Anubis in your choir?

  • @ehartsay

    Yes, yes I do.

  • @GodfreyTemple One could argue that its Nyarlathotep, since he's supposedly "the black pharaoh" and all egyption and that

  • what did you use for cthulhu?! :D awesome work!

  • @Jason9992fromroblox

He is a combination of Stikfas' astronaut and the octopus from the diver set.

    And, thank you!

  • @GodfreyTemple Thanks! ill figer out a way to make him hes cool :D

    Bravo! Bravo!

  • WTF MATE??!?

  • Cute!

  • AWESOME!

  • how long did that take to animate?

  • @demonprinceofkhorne

About two months of off and on work on nights and weekends.

  • @GodfreyTemple wow, that is amazing. i admire the dedication

  • Guest appearance from... ME! Nice video ;p

  • Well done.

  • One can assume that the Anubis figure stands for Nyarlatothep?

  • No Nyarlathotep is the one that looks like he's made out of the same stuff as Cthulhu

  • *wipes tear from eye* its so beautiful! cthulhu fhtagn!

  • I LOVED it !! :}

  • You and your son are very good animators. You should be proud of this!

  • Genial!! I love this song... xD I will singing it all day... xD

  • This is wrong on so many levels, it becomes right. I love this : D

  • Was that Anubis looking figure in the choir supposed to be Nyarlahotep?

  • Great use of STIKFAS, to bad you haven't had green Cthulhu ;)

  • cool action figures!! O_O

    what brand are they?

    thank you

  • Stikfas.

  • Ooooh, the greatness! I adore your Nyarlathotep xD

  • lol at the skeleton XD

  • I LOVE it!!! It's awesome, good job!!

  • where do you buy your stikfas?

  • Who are all the figures supposed to be? I recognize a few of them.

  • Really it was intended to be a mixed cast of horrors.

So we had the skeleton, demoness, ghost king (possibly Hamlet I), our lead zombie, Anubis (master of the gate to the underworld), a bad tempered fairy, a rather uncomfortable angel and finally - Nayarlathotep.

Of course out conductor is the mighty master of R'lyeh - Cthulhu.

The last two are inventions of our own based on the Diver's octopus and the Astronaut.

  • thanks. I thought the ghost might have been the EarlKonig (a reaper king from Germany), Nice vid by the way.

  • Thank you!

It seems I need to brush up on my German folklore.

  • The long-necked guy was Nyarlathotep? Just wondering. :?

  • The red figure with a tentacle for a head appears to be an approximation of Nyarlathotep's "Bloody Tongue" (AKA, the Howler in Darkness) form.

  • @FlenceburgExile

K, well Mery Old Ones or whatever u want to call it. XD

  • I believe it would be 'Have a Scary Solstice'

  • Does anyone know the name of that HPL-type website that doctored vintage photos to make Lovecraftian authenticity? Like old photos at the beach with a washed-up crabmonster.

Please help. I forgot the name of the site!

  • Wish I could help, but I have nothing.

    Sorry.

  • That was fantastic. You just got yourself another subscriber

  • I'm very pleased to hear it. : )

We'll be releasing another film in less than a week.

    Thanks for watching.

  • WOW, that was good!

Must of been REALLY hard! Nice job :D

  • Why, you're very welcome.

And thank you, for saying so.

  • Marvelous! Good work, thanks!

  • My brain exploded due to the sheer awesomeness, this video contains.

So that's what Cthulhu uses to turn people insane.

  • Sounds Painful :D

And they never warn you about the singing. The cracked flute, sure... But never the singing.

    Thanks!

  • Oooh wow! That is a lot of stikfas on screen at one time. nice! :D

  • Yes... It really REALLY was.

My son nearly died of boredom when we were at 1:30.

    Thanks for watching.

  • hahaha :D

  • FHTAGN! :D

    Great!!!

  • IA sure you-betcha. ^_^

    And, thank you!

  • That was just awesome! The animation was done with quality and, frankly, I was surprised it came out so great using the puppets you had. This must have taken a while to do too, so thanks a lot for making it! Really cool how you included the scene at the end.

  • It DID take a long time. Our previous animations went a lot faster because there was a lot LESS to adjust for every frame. Even so, I know that this too is only a fraction of the amount of work per shot that went into a film like Coraline or The Nightmare Before Christmas. It's humbling, I tell you.

Thank you for watching and commenting.

  • Ya, while I was watching Coraline, I nearly had a heart attack seeing all the things on screen moving. :D It's hard to watch Stop Motion films without thinking how hard they were. Did you stay till after the credits?

  • To be honest, I'm no longer sure. There were two movies recently - one we did and one we didn't and I used the one we did stay for as an example of why you SHOULD ALWAYS hang about until the very end.

  • Brainmelt!

  • Sorry about that.

Cthulhu will do that to you.

  • Pirates...

    They're everywhere.

Thanks for watching, and welcome to the cul...

    Um, group of Lovecraft fans.

    Yeah.

    *fthagn*

  • Astonishing! *is new to the mythos, but knows she'll never leave it*

And ohmygod pirate at the end.

  • Your Cthuhlu model is very well done! Do you use Stikfas?

  • Yes!

Our Cthulhu is a combination of the Diver set's octopus and alpha male from the Spaceman set.

The only drawback was hat he came out all orange. Also, our vocalist at far right is as close as we could get to Nyarlathotep. Getting a third leg into it was impossible, and the tentacle arms were a corruption of the beast in the name of fun.

  • Hrm. Is making *yourself* insane by doing stop-motion animation denying Cthulhu his rightful due?

  • Not if it's done to serve his squamous glory.

    *fthagn*

  • Now that you ask I wish I'd kept better track of it.

The one thing I'm certain of is that we started it sometime in either late December or early January knowing it'd not be ready for this year's winter solstice. We liked the song so much that we didn't care.

As to working hours, we would spend .5 to 1.5 hours on it on average every weekday. up to 4 hours on week-end days. There was some re-shooting but it was mainly done within ten frames of the "oops" and recovery was generally pretty quick.

  • Bravo!!! (loud clapping)

And... I just about fell off my chair when I got to :50 in full-screen view. :D (monkey see-monkey do principle at work here I suppose).

You two have an astonishing eye for detail with these painstaking productions. And if you ever do a full-length movie, I'll be watching closely for the "surprises."

  • It seems we add things like that in to amuse ourselves more than anything else. It was Ignis insisting on some physical comedy that had Bonesy falling from the stage.

But yes, that was the longest production we've ever done. Not in length of feature, but how long it took to animate.

There will most certainly be more.

  • Brilliant performance! =) Very pleasant to watch!

  • Thank you!

    It was fun to make.

Thanks also for watching and commenting.

  • Very well done and enjoyable to watch. Great job.

  • Thanks for stopping by and watching.

  • Our pleasure. Thanks for all the entertainment.

    Peace.

  • Bonesy got some love!!! XD

Nice work hon. ^_^ It would probably help if I had a clue about HP Lovecraft's work but I can still enjoy it!

  • That'll teach him to go join choruses during his shore leave. *nod nod*

The song itself gives one an excellent taste of what his universe is all about. Though reading it requires a taste for horror similar to E.A. Poe.
