Anyone else think that Griffiths original intention was to bring Caska and Gutt's together? After all, he made Caska sleep nude with him when Gutt's was injured after the fight with him. For some reason I don't believe Griffith was necessarily evil but was tempted and manipulated at the weakest point in his life...

The thing i like about Gutts is that he actually has a lot of love for being human and even though humans are weak, he does his best to do things as a human being. No cheating. The manga is so easy to fall in love with. It is truely a great story hopefully remembered for centuries.

So I watched the anime and was like "What the hell?" at the end. Picked up the manga where the anime left off and was even more confused. Started over from Page 1 up until the last one that was published. I am seriously in love with this series. I can't believe I haven't read this before. Some of the best character, if not the best, character development in any Manga i've ever read.
This song plays when Griffith gives his "speech" to Princess Charlotte while Guts and Casca eavesdrop, I think that scene perfectly represents the mindset of fanatical leaders. Guts hears Griffith is not his true friend and eventually leaves which punches a hole in Griffith's dream and removes his source of emotional comfort and self-discipline, yet it was Griffith's fantasy that caused Guts to leave, just as Japan eventually gave up on fascism.
Guts' theme is so incompatible with his character...when I was watching the anime, I always thought it was Griffith's theme (mainly because in almost all of the scenes where this music plays, Griffith and Guts are having some kind of man-love moment). But I love it anyway.
Well I think it reflects his character pretty well - a battle-scarred loner who pursues something fleeting. And it shows his true personality - especially when he's with Caska.
Cant believe Hollywood didnt pick this one up. They're in such a need for good stories... Im convinced this would be a huge success if done right (a Epic 3 part movies Lord of the Ring style).
Never read the books.... I'm not a huge anime fan, but damn this story is just epic and very interesting. I believe Berserk could make a huge comeback if it was brought back as a live action movie à la Lord of The Rings (3 parts or something). Imagine how epic it could be!

Even though the anime was finished long ago, they should still make a follow up anime to cover the rest of the manga. Berserk's story is just too deep and too captivating for it to be left only to the manga. The Berserk anime really made me go Berserk IRL due to it's short run and made me hate it due to it's cliffhanger. The music is just simply amazing as well.

I've got a soft spot for the art and animation style of Berserk, it seems older to me than 1997. Freaking amazing sound track which really helps to tell the story.
Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell are the only ones I know of with such great soundtracks. And by the way, I still think nothing even comes close to the Ghost in the Shell series, so check it out if you haven't already (but be warned, it's often slow).

I just love this song. It was so well utilized during the anime. I remember the scene were guts is sitting with Caska looking at the "bon fire of dreams" with this music playing in the background. It made that entire scene very powerful for me.
@jollestudio1 While the series is übercool, you'll want to read the manga after it ends. Only a small part of the manga has been fitted into the anime. Nevertheless, the anime is great. Right now, the manga has 33 volumes, the anime spans about 95% of volume 3-13 (some scenes had to be cut out). Because of budget restraints, only part of the manga could be animated.
Yeah, I'd say this represents Guts when he was with Caska and the Band of the Hawk before the Eclipse, but the Black Swordsman time? Ho boy, not even close...
That's sort of one of the points of the series...a tortured man who finds peace, and then has it ripped from him again. He's starting to find peace again. I'm only on volume 31 though.
Guts/gats is "the perfect warrior" which makes this theme fitting for his whole "career", especially the black swordsman part. the feeling that what he once had, all the beauty and love, is now focused on the tip of his sword, brings this painful theme to its rightful place at any point of his life. GODS, i love this theme... i can feel a deep personal resonance to it :D

I sold all my Berserk manga which was a bit foolish because Berserk is the only manga I thought had really nice artwork. Maybe I should create my own manga one about a Norse berserker dressed in animal skin and carries a big axe.

The manga is alive and well my friend, hurry to amazon and buy it! I believe up to volume 30 is out. (I could be a volume off) i'll tell you this much the anime ended around volume 13 (at the eclipse) so thats another 17 volumes of BERSERK goodness your missing out on!
yeah the manga is still alive....I stopped reading it at vol.25.........I hope to see an ending soon, I always tend to dislike long mangas/anime (bleach, dragon ball etc)

Took me a while to find it myself. Recently, for certain hard to get tracks I've been wanting, I try to put it into google. I've been pretty lucky to find links to their downloads. So I recommend doing that.
I know. Notaru Miura (I wish I had a badass name like that) said he didn't know at first when he created Gutts. Later on in his work he did. That may explain the arm. Also, did you know two Emperors in this series were based on real kings though? I think they were Kanishka and Gaiseric.

alright i see your point, perhaps i fell into the overreaction state too, like benjamin, as you see i started off quite soft with that comment, but went out of control :) its just hard to imagine how a person can think bad about berserk (and certain parts, especially the ending)
without the monsters? the ending was the best part you fuckin weirdo! the anime is NOT better than the manga, except in the anime you get to see the passion between everyone grow so immense, in the anime it's just alot of action, without any real touching parts
at the risk of sounding unpopular, I thought the anime was better than the manga.. I loved the story until all the monsters came in at the end.. I wish that they made it whitout the monsters, and a real ending.
basicly if you have ever played the japanese PS2 Berserk game, thats where the anime left off. So after the anime, play the game for the things that happen in the manga
and the anime didn't include the same stuff as the manga because they had no intentions of concluding the series past the first eclipse. They didn't want to add some important stuff, then people would think they were continueing the series. (for example the appearence of the Skull Knight was not included) but you may have already know this.
the mangna is freakin awesome, but I like seeing things in color with voices, but if the anime was exactly like the mangna, it would have been much better. all in all blood, gore, violence, hot women,and sex equals BERSERK!!!!!!!!
Well that is just icing on the cake. Interesting characters and the way they are developed is a plus. Not to mention it isn't the cookie-cutter, good guys win ordeal.

Yeah I know what you mean. I actually saw the anime after a friend of mine recommended it to me. I saw it once, and immediately saw it a second time. This song makes me sad because every time they play it someone is talking about something very deep.
this music always make me cry. You knoq that epsiode after he has left the Band of the Hawk and he's practising his swordplay and he says in thought about how his sword is the only thing that let's anyone know he evfer exsisted.
For me it's the episode where he and Casca finaly come together, and e realises his emptiness, the dream he searched, was her all along. Those characters coming together just is so beautiful cause the audience is just waiting for it for so long. And the monolgue scene on the rooftop gets to me time after time just like his dialogue in Bonfire of dreams, which was mentioned before.
I'm going to make sure my child is conceived to this song. Though that means he would probably break out of the womb...

I know. Notaru Miura (I wish I had a badass name like that) said he didn't know at first when he created Gutts. Later on in his work he did. That may explain the arm. Also, did you know two Emperors in this series were based on real kings though? I think they were Kanishka and Gaiseric.

if you've read the manga you'll kind of understand benjamin's reaction... hell I go crazy myself every time I hear/see someone call ANY part of berserk crap, but the ending...MAN THANTS LOW! just promise you'll never accuse berserk ending of "sucking balls" ever again! of course unless you got the big picture so to speak (which you dont), and if you still think like that, then theres simply just something wrong with you (:

alright i see your point, perhaps i fell into the overreaction state too, like benjamin, as you see i started off quite soft with that comment, but went out of control :) its just hard to imagine how a person can think bad about berserk (and certain parts, especially the ending)

without the monsters? the ending was the best part you fuckin weirdo! the anime is NOT better than the manga, except in the anime you get to see the passion between everyone grow so immense, in the anime it's just alot of action, without any real touching parts

at the risk of sounding unpopular, I thought the anime was better than the manga.. I loved the story until all the monsters came in at the end.. I wish that they made it whitout the monsters, and a real ending.

LIES they're up to like chapter 295 now. the last chapter was released in early april with the next one sadly scheduled around the end of may.

and the anime didn't include the same stuff as the manga because they had no intentions of concluding the series past the first eclipse. They didn't want to add some important stuff, then people would think they were continueing the series. (for example the appearence of the Skull Knight was not included) but you may have already know this.

the mangna is freakin awesome, but I like seeing things in color with voices, but if the anime was exactly like the mangna, it would have been much better. all in all blood, gore, violence, hot women,and sex equals BERSERK!!!!!!!!

yeah, thats whats so cool about Gutts. He kicks ass, gets his ass kicked at times but still manages to get back up and fight. Who wrote this mangna is awesome. I like Gutts and Caska's character growth throughout the mangna. Thanks for the Theme upload!

This music is easily the best song in the entire anime. Berserk has one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard. I never get bored of listening to it. Thanks for the post!

yeah i agree... i liked the music so much i got the OST and i am really pleased. i couldn't listen to this song without feeling sad after finishing the anime for about 2 and a half months lol

Yeah I know what you mean. I actually saw the anime after a friend of mine recommended it to me. I saw it once, and immediately saw it a second time. This song makes me sad because every time they play it someone is talking about something very deep.

For me it's the episode where he and Casca finaly come together, and e realises his emptiness, the dream he searched, was her all along. Those characters coming together just is so beautiful cause the audience is just waiting for it for so long. And the monolgue scene on the rooftop gets to me time after time just like his dialogue in Bonfire of dreams, which was mentioned before.
