I really appreciate this. I recently bought a Godin Multiac Nylon SA and a Roland GR-55. I was about to return the GR-55 because the sounds I was getting were awful. After seeing your video and how good it sounds it forced me to do some more research to figure out why....It turns out I hadn't selected the proper pickup type and scale length. Can you confirm that you are using the Piezo-R pickup type and a 648mm scale length in your GK settings for the Multiac?
@Nelsonisms Yes, that's exactly the settings I'm using. I'm not much of a tweaker when it comes to the GR-55 and VG-99 and a lot of people hassle me asking me for my specific settings. The most important thing is setting the scale length correctly and, of course, the pickup type - though you can vary this if you are finding some patches work better with other pickup settings. Playing a guitar synth is nothing like playing a guitar - you have to adapt your style and play as cleanly as possible.
An update to my previous comment. I've been experimenting with the GR-55 and GR-20 using a Multiac Nylon SA guitar. It is my opinion that the GR-55 does not work as well as the GR-20 with this guitar. I've tried for several days to tweak the GK settings to get some halfway acceptable performace out of the GR-55, but it always seems to play extra notes regardless of settings or how cleanly I play. However, the GR-20 works properly with minimal adjustment to my playing style. Just my .02
@audiotrax2000 It's pretty responsive actually. I'm not the best finger picker, but the duff notes on this were caused by human error and not the unit. However, put a bass guitar (see my other video) into the GR-55 and the tracking on the low strings is very bad.
well forget about getting the korg kronos,I'll just stick with the Microkorg and my 8 string guitar with my midi pickup and just play the piano parts on my guitar
@huffalmighty That's not a question I can answer sensibly. It's all up to your own requirements and tastes - so go along to your local store and try it with both and see which one you like.
@huffalmighty what do you mean? The unit doesn't use your guitar's pickups since it has a dedicated pickup you attach to your chosen guitar. That special pickup translates the string vibrations to a MIDI signal for the unit to use.
@huffalmighty Yeah just noticed the 2 months ago bit, sorry :P But anyways, if I'm correct this particular guitar comes with the special pickup already built in. There are electric guitars that also have the pickup built-in, but you can always get (i think one also comes with the unit) one yourself that attaches to your guitar with, afaik, no drilling or anything (it does look cumbersome though). Google "GK-3".

Very nice, especially considering you are gently fingerpicking. Do you find the low notes to have a lot of latency?

Well, greats realistics effects, but the sound does't seem to be synchrone with your hand, is it normal ? are you plugged on your computer (Windows)?

@Maherylevrai I suggest you watch again as the audio and video are perfectly in sync...

if I played through this with an electric guitar, would single coils or humbuckers probably sound better?

@RindraRado Oh, sorry. I posted that a long time ago, didn't realize that the synth comes with pickup designed for it. My bad.

I'm under the impression that this synth uses a special pick up, so the issue of single coil vs. humbuckers is moot.
lenskap 1 month ago
Possibly, but it is all down to tracking speed and your playing style. Go to the music store and give it a go first...

Will this synth produce a good Violin, lets say to play something like the Devil Went down to Georgia
