I think the actors were quite charming. Great camera, effects, rehearse, rehearse, encore! Acknowledging this is a short incomplete demostration my complaint is that he can't quite muster the English sarcasm required. He clearly needs more but perhaps the only way he will be able to acquire that level of sarcasm is to have lived bowing his head and knee to one "supreme" authority or another. But at last he has lived relatively free, near American ideas. She was charming, but unbelievable.
Enjoying this book the second time on a packed peak hour train. Reading where Dirk runs into the back of the ladies car a smile was already on my face.
As my eyes passed over the following word the smile became a low laugh, just moments before each punch line was delivered.
Then as my eyes were about to read the words when Dirk ask about her lawyer, although I did not know the words coming. Anticipation had me laughing loud from the bottom of my guts. Everybody looked at me like I was mad.
@Crispinhoggarth We love the Canadians, too. It's refreshing to know that it isn't the water on your land mass which makes so many North Americans moronic. Must be something to do with the education system as Canadians don't seem to suffer from it nearly as much as those from the United States of etcetera.
Well it makes sence. The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul is the sequal to Dirk Gentlys Holistic Detective Agency which was orginaly to be the Doctor Who episode Shada, but it got canceled so he turned it into a book.
Just to say that I very much enjoyed this and hope you make much more of this. Except I think Dirk needs more of an authentically English city boy accent.
Holy bad audio Batman! It's been awhile since I have watched this. Oh the memories. Out in the blowing cold with minimal crew beside the QE2. Not the best of shooting conditions. But it was fun.
I'd rather you didn't.

This is a wonderful production, but I'm afraid I'll forever associate Dirk Gently with Harry Enfield's voice due to the BBC radio adaption.
(Also, British vs. American accent.)

I absolutely salute the intention, I love the effort and the sentiment.
But not the result. Sadly, there is almost nothing right about this screen adaptation.
Dirk couldn't be more inappropriately cast and his acting couldn't be more hammy, contemptuous and mocking of the script.
Kate however is fine, simply by virtue of being American.
Her name is Kate SHECKTER, not Sketcher.
It'S WOODS HEAD, not woodshed.
What relation does this work have to do with the Salmon of Doubt?
