Absolutely fabulous bit of visceral Americana. No matter where your come from, this wonderful snippet of our old time place and time is like a cup of coffee at 4 am listening to an AM station as you are staring out the kitchen window with the distant station humming and scratching.
I like at 0:51 where he says "look how high and light it rises" and it's not high and light at all! lol
I just brought home a bunch of flavored Martha White muffin mixes to make waffles with. I bought some marked-down buttermilk I've never used before and was wondering if it would be any good in the cornbread mix, so thanks for the tip @pegcage !
@HansBluejacket ~ Bryn Davies, the diminutive but 'monster' bass player for Peter Rowan & 'Old & In The Grey'...does that all the friggin' time ...she rocks Man!
How many upright bass players you see keep a steady beat while they PICK UP the bass and walk it up to the Mic for a vocal part nowadays? Not too many.
You know, Martha White really is good! I use their cornmeal mix to make cornbread, use buttermilk, and would match my cornbread against anybody's. Now, send me a check, Martha White. LOL.
This is back during a better time when women wore pretty dresses ! Doesn't Ann Abbey have a charming accent ? Nice theme, great commercial and a great traditional bluegrass song !
Ahh, the sounds and sights from my childhood. These guys will forever be in my heart and soul. Love your vid!
