  • The boots are ammunition boots with metal toe plates and metal horseshoe shaped heel plates with metal studs not as bad as it sounds they are very comfortable. The bearskin cap with a whicker inner is heavy as is the tunic and the trousers known as 'tweeds'. The NCO assisting him has two chevrons he is a Lance Corporal (line regiments wear one). Nobody whatever rank would have 'screamed their heads off in public.

  • Holy crap that could have ended badly!

  • Good thing they took the Camera away from Michael J Fox, @ 00:24.

  • What I like about this is the fact that the superior immediatly helped him up making sure he was ok rather than screaming his head off at him like some high rank gaurds might have done.

  • That was unreal...the Guard's feet just had no grip at all..if it was icy, that explains a lot. Steel hobnails slip ..horses shod with steel also slip, hence the laying of sand over slippery parts of the road for Royal processions, to help prevent this. Luckily the Guard was ok...even ordinary people who slip or trip in the street go red, and try to recover their dignity..I slipped over in public and it is really embarrassing, as well as painful.

  • they were walking on pure ice, what do you expect. watch their feet from the beginning of the video.

  • Ah I feel this guys pain, i've worn boots similar to what he's wearing (the old 30s/40s version) so they're hobnailed... and having walked on a slippery surface with them on and falling over in front of people, it don't half hurt and gets you embarrassed... still looks like he kept together! Well done to him :)

  • Uuufff, this bayonet was closely together of his face.

  • Right then! Who's been polishing the pavement with banana peels?

  • whoops nasty fall, good of the sargent to give him a hand and dust him down and straten his hat out

  • It touches me how the senior guard is dusting his uniform for him and probably talking quietly to reassure him.

  • Mick its a concrete slab which over time becomes really smooth. Also on the bottom of every guards boots are metal studs and a horse shoe shape metal strip around the heel. That is what makes the marching sound crisp and sharp but like the unfortunate welsh guard pretty slippery ;0).

  • Dangerous man, those aint fake bayonettes either. Can't really laugh at him, just about to get off duty after hours in the sun/rain. Heavy ass hat. And that Sergeant/Colour sergeant probably chewed him out for it too. =/

  • Poor lad had to stand there all day after that, gay wee tourists sniggering at him. Much respect to him and all our armed forces.m

  • It's heart warming to see the care and respect the sergeant has for his fellow comrade.

  • Are those flight-rolling papers and plastic cups around? Doesn't anyone sweep around BP???

  • Good on the senior guard there rather than going mad at the lower ranking guard for falling he straight away helps him to his feet.

  • Zero chance to avoid that, his feet just glided right off.

  • It does not look icy, what is it that they are slipping on?

  • @navyocs their shoes does not have any grip

  • @navyocs its hard to see but there is a metal drain cover he has to stand on on that post and its really slippery...

  • what a dangerous fall. thank god he didn't stab himself with his own weapon.

  • plus their boots have metal cleats called hobails on the bottom, very tricky on smooth ground

  • the bearskin weighs around 9 lbs and yes it does get hot.

  • It's not what you think they have too wear super polished leather shoes and it did look a bit wet! :). lol

  • LOL!

  • When i lived in england for a few years, the boarding master was a retired officer. However when he was enlisted he did 2 months of this before he slipped and injured himself. when he was back on full duty he did officer training and became one. This was back in 1998

  • i hear the hats are made of bear fur!!!

  • @lts1011 nope ... bears are made of hat fur

  • Whats the sense of taking the mickey out of front line professional soldiers by posting rubbish like this, A stint in a war zone might teach you more respect!

  • I've pulled duty similar to this but not so public. It seems in almost every video with a soldier falling, they fall in front of that guard house. They really should treat the ground with grout or sand or something. A fall like this one could really cause serious injury and since I'm an arrse member have read plenty of stories of guys getting a bayonet through the chin on occasion.

  • @losghost

You're in the ARSE unit? Wow, sounds pretty elite.

  • I had guard duty, it sucks. The minutes seem to last hours, Your either too hot or too cold, tired, hungry, wet, and it just sucks cause its so boring. A little thing like this guy slipping is nothing. Until you've stood at attention for hours at a time, peopledon't have the right to make fun of anyone that has.

  • @Matthewseven13 how often and whats the duration of the duty??

  • @TheCelticmaori The duty I pulled was 3 hours on, one hour off on a 12 hour shift. Our shifts rotated, you worked three 12hour nights, three 12 hour days and then had three days off.

  • @Matthewseven13 What was the pay like?

  • I don't see why this video had to turn into some huge country hate-fest. It's ridiculous that we all can't get along and treat each other with respect. We are all human beings, regardless of what country we live in.

  • British imperialism for the win, am i right?

    haha im american btw.

  • @daviddemeo34 Just like you stated Britania rules the waves apart from we dont have an aircraft carrier and 51 ship in the navy all together but thats coz of david cam-moron (pun on his name there btw)

  • I don't see what the big deal is. The man slipped, fell, recovered, the NCOIC helped him get squared away and he stood his post. Have you never tripped or fell down? I give him credit for not making a big deal of out of it. You might forget sometimes, but that is a real live living and breathing person, with feelings that he's learned to control very well, under that Bear Skin Hat and Red Tunic. You people who critize and make fun, can you do any better job? iBaloogy is absolutely correct.

  • thats funny but i do feel sorry for the guy as he is always supposed to be professional. i mean he's only human and he makes mistakes but everyone expects him to be perfect!

  • These guys slip a whole lot. I'm afraid one of them is gonna slip and stab someone/himself with their bayonet!

  • Oopsies! Eddie went down again Mum!

  • ohhh sorry its not funny

  • These guards put up with alot. Those hats weigh alot, the coats are hot in the sun, its even worse if it rains (added weight), stood there for hours, some douchey tourists make fun of them for being so serious and marching, they serve in afgan, they have to deal with shoes that have no grip on the type of flooring...You got to hand it to them they do their best lol

  • @Elle7491 because they are the best, no matter how many people dis- agree with me take a look at your countrys drill teams and i can guarantee there is at least one thing they have taken from the british footguards because they are admired all over the world for being the best at what they do and they high discipline, in the application process for the grenadier guards and im a member of the army cadet force, i also performed for essex in a drill competition

  • @Elle7491 are they guardman or infantry musicians

  • i feel so sad for them :( how much do they earn from whatever they do?

  • @RebelHair standard military wage depending on what rank you are and what corps your in but its a small price to pay instead of being shot at in afghan

  • @lkj802 we dont do this stuff to get out of going to afghan y'know.... we'd much rather be there. We are combat infantrymen first, ceremonial soldiers second. just thot id bring that to ur attention in light of ur comment.

  • @Mick8598 i understand that i was purely stating the difference between standing outside the queens house for half a year has to be better than possibly dying in Afghan in a war we shouldn't even be in.

  • @lkj802 fair one. ur entitled to ur opinion... but it is a perfectly just war if u ask me.

  • coz of the metal parade studs on the sole of their parade boots...a nightmare on wet cobbles.

  • change the floor in that place..ive seen 5 videos of a guard falling in the same spot wtf.

  • @ImGodUFUCK They're making it for a reason, it seems.

  • Hey, everyone is human. You gotta feel impathy for the guard. You stand out there for hours on end.

  • to the freefra i think youl find they do fight in afghanistan that is what they wear to protect the palace and london bridge because it is smart also i bet hese fucking pissed off he must of cracked his boots hours of repairing to do im alsom a currently serving royal engineer

  • ITS ALWAYS THIS SPOT WERE THEY SLIP

  • @faisalfushi cause its marble and they have boots with barely any grip.

  • The guards are elite professional soldiers. They come from the 'household division' (Coldstream, Grenadier, Scots, Irish and Welsh guards) and recently fought in Iraq and Afghanistan.

They also protect the royal family and the property of the state.

They are not performers or actors.

    Do not Fuck with them.

  • are they allowed to fall down? ROFL

  • @Dosalt in short yes, because whilst being God's answer to mummy's boys (that is for the slow of mind, very good soldiers) thay are still governed by the laws of nature including, sadly, gravity. That said they shit gold bricks and eat hot tar for breakfast, and they enjoy it because they're just that hard.

  • these guys do not fight in iraq

  • @TheFreefa11 Yes they do

  • @TheFreefa11 yeah your right they don't fight in Iraq there special reserve for this job and this job only i don't know why i put that comment there sorry

  • Hobnail boots on a wet surface. Very difficult. Nice of him to help the guy up and adjust his uniform; he took a nasty fall.

  • @EddieTheFishReturns These Shoes are very hard leather and with steel backs and fronts and are a real pig in the wet as they do not even flex with your foot!.

  • ...............how did tht hat not fall off? ..do they ever fall off?

do they get to wear smaller hats in high wind?

  • maybe its because they are standing on wet marble...

  • I wonder how many years he trained in the army.......

  • I would really love to see them in combat, where runing is included :D

  • There seems to be an awful amount of video's of Guards falling... Perhaps they should be issued with boots that have better grip?

  • @SCOTTYinSCOTLAND It may not be possible as they are wearing ammo boots that have hobnails on the sole.

  • @SCOTTYinSCOTLAND I agree. This is an excellent solution.

  • @SCOTTYinSCOTLAND well you have to admit they do keep the palace very clean

  • @SCOTTYinSCOTLAND Yeah either that or not drink so much the night before!

  • They seem awfully "wiggly" for Guards. Is this real?? Or CGI??

  • @ciao614 u twat these are real guards and the do this every day and if u don't believe me u should go to London and see them and it is not his fault those hats weight quite alot and the uniform is heavy and i do know this because my brother is a grenadier guard so have some respect

  • @skylineXtitchX "twat" was that dear?..lol..you'd never see an American Marine stumble like that. Why don't YOU show some respect to ME? You came from a twat you asshole..and I'd rather not give anymore money to the British Monarchy..I need it for me twat cream...lol

  • ha ha.....not funny !

  • It happens a lot and if you think about it it's potentially very dangerous what with a bayonet on the rifle one could fall onto it..

  • Im a proud off this guys

  • @Michael189redwhite are you are proud of the (falling)guys??

  • @alokraja1

Why don't you try it, ammo boots are slippery as fuck on the surface. A former coldstream guard i knew when i was younger did this. He has the scar on his arm where he fell and got cut open by the bayonet.

    Don't make stupid remarks

  • @4lifeNz are you the same guard?? How do you know abt this gusrds scar?

  • @Michael189redwhite: I'd shudder to think what it would entail if you were a proud on him

  • I dont understand what the point of the little box is that they stand in front of? Do they stand inside of it if the weather gets REALLY bad outside or something? Or does it hold additional weapons and amunition?

  • @JDCoolMan21 It's for when it rains etc i think, to protect the gun and what not

  • poor chap

  • Comment removed

  • @TheBarryviper You are odd.

  • @TheBarryviper These ARE the real soldiers sir. the training these men go through to get this privileged is intense. I'm American and you can't help but have deep respect for these guys.

  • That's a disaster?

  • Aww poor sap... You could tell he's really hurting after his fall :\

  • fuck the queen

  • @xxwesdogxx Fuck your black President

  • @TheKeirsunishi I'll take my black president over your righeteous money sucking Royals anyday!

  • @ciao614 If u really knew anything about the Royal Family then you would know that they make a great deal of money both directly and indirectly for the UK economy. The Royals bring history, tradition, character, pageantry and leadership to a truly great country. But I wouldn't expect u to know this when 70% of Americans don't even have a passport nor any real knowledge of any other country except there own! Ignorance is bliss as they say! You can keep your president u know where u can shove him

  • @pixmafia I am sure they bring money to the UK but how much do they cost all of you in the process? We got it all in the good ol' US of A and don't feel the need to travel all over the world, much of which is terrorist countries or 3rd world countries. So because we don't travel alot makes us ignorant?? We have much knowledge of other countries. We don't need to go there to know about them. Many NASA scientists have knowledge of the Moon without going there. You sound like the ignorant one.

  • @ciao614 most of your citizens don't even know where on a map the next country you are going to invade and pillage is. Not only are you ignorant but also arrogant.

Your presidential election's are meddled by big corporations and populism.

I rather have a constitutional monarchy that has politically neutral royals than a president who has his big financial supporters to take care of.

  • @MrGilles1990 For someone who seems anti-American I find it curious that you post a Twin Towers in memorandum on your YT page. I know some Brits died who were in that building also but it's more of an American symbol to me...and I just found it interesting on your part. Say what you will about America..but all the English I have met have been thrilled to be here visiting and said that this is the country everyone wants to see..so apparently you don't share the same view but that's okay.

  • @MrGilles1990 BTW Maybe you don't know..that the British Military is in every country the American Military is..so umm..yeah...you need to get up out of your Mum's basement and turn that "telli" on every now and then and learn something about current events...Oh and one last thing.. You don't think that your PM is influenced AT ALL by any corp. monies?? Pahhhleeese! All Politics are corrupt at some level. But you sound young and are not as wise yet as me..so I give you 10 years to get caught up.

  • @MrGilles1990 Funny how on the Internet and TV most British seem to love the Royals, but behind the scenes (off the record) they don't care for them at all and want the Monarchy dismantled. Kinda reminds me of the OJ trial back in the 90's (Google it for all you under 30). All the blacks on TV screamed his innocense when in "reality" they all knew he was guilty..we find out later. Hmm....

  • @ciao614 in a recent poll done in a notoriously republican area 70% wanted the Monarchy while 20% did not.

Nothing like the OJ trial, yet again you Americans make poor usage of the English language.

  • @ciao614 No dear boy it is you that is the ignorant one, especially of history, if you care to take a look back a few hundred years you will find that the first settlers who founded what you now call The Good Old U.S of A came from the British Isles, they were sent out on orders of the royalty of the time to discover the world in which we live. if it wasn't for us you wouldn't even be a piece of DNA let alone an American! I will let you carry on as your ignorance is plain to see

  • @ciao614 Not every country in this world is a terrorist nation you cannot tarr every nation with the same brush. you need a few geography lessons my friend and actually take time to travel and judge for yourself its a big wide world out there so get a passport! u cant live life being drip fed world news from CNN! a scientist who is a specialist in a subject they have never seen is not what i would call a reliable source of information. i like scientists who actually knw there subject in reality

  • @xxwesdogxx I would say " Fu** your disrespect and your vocabulary " -_-'' Another intelligent comment of an American who does not help the reputation of his country and its people....

But I am only a poor little French compared to your supériority -_-'' (It's ironical, in case you wouldn't understand...)

  • now thats being a british soldier the best in the world

  • poor guard,i wud wear his clothes for that day n let him go home n rest for only 100 pounds

  • recovered nicely...shit happens...kudo's to him for pickin himself up and stayin put

  • i feel bad for this poor guard! i can't laugh of this!

  • Blimey! Was the other Guardsman kind enough to adjust his Buzby and uniform for him, since he couldn't move? Good on him, people are only human.

  • i feel bad for laughing : /

  • 0:23

  • gotta feel sorry for the guy, happened to me coming down the cobbles at windsor castle, drill boots are a nightmare

  • aww poor guy. hey we're only human, right?

  • aaww

i hope he was ok and didn't get in trouble

  • Looked almost like he fell with his head/neck into the bayonet.

  • 2nd guard peed on his pants making the floor wet because he can't hold it any longer. 3rd guard comes in and fslips to the urine. poor guy.

  • poor thing!

  • Bet he didn't make that mistake again

  • holy shit they have slippery shoes. and another thing, pwnage

  • that hurt alot you can tell my old sargant would have never made sure i was ok like this guy he would have just planted me one on the chin haha

  • @dean11081988 It's a different World, Deano. That wasn't his searg, though, was it?

  • I'm sorry, I’m so sorry but I can’t stop laughing :D He remembered me how I fell down the stairs. It was hurt, really hurt, but I was laughing through my tears. Well, he has no such comfort, has to standstill. Thank God nothing had happened to him.

  • respect lucky he didnt impale himself on his bayonet tho lucky guy really

  • i actually feel sorry):

  • he can be lucky that there was no warant oficcer or rsm

  • Is it just me or is the queens army uniform a bit weird? Big black wooly hats..

  • @DeadRiser1 Not weird, they don't actually wear that in battle! Just awesome.

  • @mightywindmill102 No shit sherlock. Thats the ROYAL GAURD Uniform.

  • @mightywindmill102 they use to, when they fought the zulu's

  • @TheSirRoberto no that was just in the film..........plonker

  • @riggybow No you dumb shit they did wear them. British soldiers fought in scarlet tunics for the last time at the Battle of Gennis on 30 December 1885

  • @TheSirRoberto why swear and say dumb shit? i got a fact wrong i dindnt call u names or reotort in ur manner all u have to say is no just look here or somethin why does every1 on youtube swear, and critisise every1 all fuckin keyboard gangsters...u wanna swear at me come to my face?? want my address? cuz ill fuckin kick every peice of livin flesh from your back and rip yer fuckin head off:D

  • @rocket880 ok ill fight you

  • @rocket880 shit sorry mate :@ my brother goes on my profile and writes stupids things to poeple, he likes to be right all the time sorry mate

  • @rocket880 lmao!!! what a retard you are

  • @rocket880 Someone put this retard out of his misery.

  • @rocket880 Dude. You play runscape, which means you automatically fail at life. Give me your address. I'll fucking beat the shit out of you. Fucking queer.

  • @shawnchi i play runescape???? uhm wtf....when???

  • @rocket880

lol u dumb faggot you only have 3 videos on your channel. ALL of them are runescape vids. dont act dumb you stupid kid

  • @TheSirRoberto That was before the Anglo-Zulu war and you are talking about the tunics, they are talking about the hats.

  • @DeadRiser1 Bear skins stole from dead French soldiers I believe is the history and the red tunics is an early form of camouflage because you can't count how many blokes there are if they're all wearing red. It all blends into one.

  • @DeadRiser1 They wear them in honour of their win at Waterloo.

The French elite troop, the Old Guard, would wear those bear skin hats. The Old Guard was decimated by British troops, so it is kind of like taking a Roman standard or Napoleons Eagle.

Everything is about tradition and history at that level in the forces.

  • OGMG OTHAT GUY GOT PWNED

hey check out my mum naked ww.w.wewe

  • poor lad

  • A piece of rock that has had people walking over it 24/7 for the last I don't know how many years... no wonder it gets slippery.

  • Why the fuck do they have shoes that are slippery then?

  • There called drill boots and they have metal studs on the bottom and a metal strip on the heels so when there marching it makes one single crack if it doesnt then some ones marching out of time and so people can hear them coming.

  • OUCH

  • poor guyyyy :(

  • why do they always slip.. must the shoes they wear.. coz theres so many of these vids

  • my bf used to do it, he said its the floor, they tried to make it non slip but made it worse. he said when you stop you sorta have to slide????

  • I'm not sure. It's one I plan to post to the Brit military forums and ask.

  • Oh my God i laughed so hard, i must have watched the fall and that fancy footwork about 25 times. Poor guy.

  • what you have to think is these boys have probably just returned from afghanistan and iraq they dont just stand there practicing drill everyday like the norwegians

  • @ZeroCool66667 Unlike the Foot Guards, the ground upon which the Norwegian guards stand hasn't be worn smooth by 300 years worth of metal-studded soles.

  • your a fag he got back up on his feet i hope you get the piss took out off you next time you fall

  • lol

  • when i was in the guards i heard story about a guardsman impaling himself through the chin under his tongue with the SLR bayonet, he was alright but its still it must have hurt...

  • lol

  • thank god he didnt got stabed by the bayonet

  • What is that ground made of? Slippery metal or what?

  • No but they have metal on the bottom of there boots

  • no its made of marble which in itself is very slippy, and yes the boots we wear on stag have metal studs on the bottom so its very unstable when we patrol

  • Helps stop anyone invading
