I have episodes where I feel I can manipulate the perception of time, it is hard, I slow it down and speed it up like if it was in a movie... very weird, also sound, touch and vision get confused, it does get out of control sometimes but I am always 100% concious of the whole thing is happening to me, it is very distracting and I have to stop doing anything else I was on...
My God your pretty! Sorry, completely off topic, I know. But, whats it like having this condition? I don't really like to call it a "disease" but I'm not sure really what to call it with out offending anyone. So, if you had a chance to get rid of it, would you? Or if I could get it, would you recommend me try it out for a while?
@bigchubby99 Haha, thanks! It's interesting. I don't have the grapheme color synesthesia quite so much anymore, but I find the rest to actually be useful (the spatial one, mostly). I would just call it a disorder. I wouldn't get rid of it if I had the chance; it doesn't really bother me anymore. You can't just get it, though. Sorry, haha.
yeah my memory is amazing long term!! im 13 and can remember things from when i was just a baby in my cot and being a toddler and stuff but i can barely remember what i had for dinner last night ;)
What the hell could the possible problems be? Haha...sorry if I'm being insensitive but I haven't discovered any disadvantages to having synesthesia. I have a damn good memory and I'm pretty sure that I have this "disorder" to thank for it. Also, speak for yourself, my parents are Generation "Xers" and they produced a synesthete ;)
I've been tasting words, sounds, and some shades of light all of my life and I always thought that whatever it was, was completely made up in my head. I used to google it and look for things about it and never found anything until about a year ago. I found out it was a real thing and it had a name. I'm so excited because now I can talk to other people who don't think I'm on drugs or completely insane.
I do believe there have been synesthesiacs since human form arose. There very well may be more now in the american babyboomer kids due to the chemical compounds they ingested. There is a definite link with triptamines or what ever. Quite commonly thinks blend in very strange ways, more so scenters in the mind blend just like in synesthesiacians.
As a kid anything closely related to what I would put my sincere attention into would show up as "highlighted". Like I had an appointment later in the
@winthorne One day I had an appointment in the afternoon. I ate lunch and this guy sitting at a table a ways away was "highlighted". I was like ? because I didnt see any apparent connection. Sure enuff he is guy at the appointment. Its a good way to know if I am sincere about something. I also have some variation of light (electromagnetic spectrum)to sound. Nature's light is nice. Modern stuff like cell towers and satelites are no good.
@aminalz22 haha, that's interesting. =] for me it's purple until I separate my words. I wouldn't say I have short term memory as much as a bad attention span
I hear phone numbers.. IDK if that's synesthesia, but I remember peoples numbers by how they sound... I doubt it is.. just thought I would throw that in.
Wow, never knew such a condition existed...Just read up a lil on it....Interesting...Prolly would make a person more artistically inclined I would think...

@peneraserlove I know you can't just get it, but if someone were able to, would you suggest them to? It sounds like a lot of fun to have!

@bigchubby99 Nah. It wouldn't feel natural if you hadn't lived with it most of your life. Not quite like playing an arcade game, haha.

@kurtywurty85 Haha I think it's pretty clear if you think about it. There's more than one type and it depends on what kind you have.
