  • im 16 and i know I was born in the wrong generation...I call my generation the degeneration

  • I thought this song was actually named something else. Don't Answer Me was just the part everyone remembered so they just renamed it. Hmmm....guess the memory is starting to go. LoL

  • Great classic. Will always remind me of my cousin Yoyana. She was several yrs younger than me and I always introduced her to new music she would never have heard of otherwise. This was one of them. I think I was already in college--can't recall when this song came out--and I remember telling her about it. And she replied "Oh yeah is the video where the moon gets hit in the eye?" Will always remember that moment.

  • I used to love this song. Brings back good memories. Miss being in love.

  • incredible song...almost brings a tear to the eye.

  • grande que je peux penser de ma jeunesse ....

  • Music and lyrics are very magic...

  • Hey, that bully is Rick Perry!

  • A breakthrough video back then.

  • Ssssssoooo sweet:) This song takes me back! :) :) :)

  • Absolutely classic

  • music on mtv, how old is this?

  • @PedroFavMusic circa 1984, back when MTV and videos were much better than now.

  • @fijidawg Oh I used to eat up the videos! I live in Canada so it was VERY difficult to get MTV.. so I had to catch all these half & hour long video shows. (Toronto Rocks, Video Hits Chumfm top 30, Good Rockin Tonight LMAO, that just came to me!!)

  • WOULD anybody know the kind of cartoon they made for this video /THE NAME OF THE CARTOON FOR THIS SONGp-l-e-a-s-e let me know

  • don't let me win

  • stay on ur island

  • yes u r

  • i love this song but the good guy never gets the girl-she was with the goon first-women are so impressionable-they are not worthy of love, they go wherever they are better off financially

  • es la hostia esta cancion

  • ..-(muy buena

  • .._)que buena cancion para el recuerdo

  • One of my favs! Could listen to this one at least once a day. Thanks!

  • we danced to this beautiful song at our 74 wedding , still up there with my best of all time greats .wonderful wife , wonderful memories.

  • @thatkoolkatal...nope, I agree. Always thought this was their best. Great song!

  • #manimold! I remembered this as the comic strip video.

  • I love the '37 Cord that Nick is driving. Innovative and creative video and a terrific song. Thanks for posting this memory that I thought was long lost.

  • time and I robot

  • no,I have 3 that r my favs this is one

  • I can listen to this song over and over again...love the intrumental part...one of my favorites.

  • this song makes me cry and im not afraid to say it.. reminds me of a woman I fell in love with..even though she turned her back on me.. id still have her back all these years later...

  • zajebiste!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • in the real world, nick gets his ass kicked and everybody kisses the thug"s ass-nick goes to jail for assault

  • @garebear1015 LOL AMEN BRO!........And she'ld be eating up all of the attention!

  • Thank you Jesus for making me a Teen in THe 80's Amen!!!

  • It's this song that hooked me to Alan Parsons Project, I've listened to all their albums since then, new and old, and this is still my favorite.

  • @BrutoDaBurlyGoon Same here. I still have this song in heavy rotation at home. I play it in my car, my ipod and at home. I can't say for sure but I think I'm the only black woman in the planet who finds this song to be so endearing.

    Take care;

    ~~GTL2010~~

  • grandísimos musicos que hoy en día no exísten

  • I love this piece, it's one of Parsons greatest, and Ammonia Avenue is a wonderful LP. Thanks for the memories.

  • IMPRESIONANTE!! ALAN SOS EL No 1. Y ERIC GRACIAS POR DEJARNOS TU LEGADO FUISTE, SOS Y SERÁS UN GRANDE. ESTARÁS EN LA GLORIA, AQUI ABAJO LA GLORIA MUSICAL SIGUE SONANDO.....;-)

  • I don't remember this video, but I do remember the song...and I still have the Ammonia Avenue album. Haven't played it in years. Thanks for posting this.

  • im only seventeen, but i just cant get enough of this song, i cant stand the music now a days.

  • nice classic song.

  • just wondering when this was on MTV2??? I thought they only played current music? I only WISH they still played this music on modern TV. Your lucky to hear music at all on MTV these days........sad!

  • Una de mis preferidas.

    Grande Alan Parsons

  • Im howling you little bitch email me please!

  • SUCH A JEWEL! thx for sharing :)

  • I love this song. But nowadays, you need to think about it twice before becoming a hero for a woman who made the wrong choice

  • A few years later,Sugar left Nick, for one of Capones boys, who went straight and runs a grocery store in Miami. He's now in Jail for not paying his child support. The big "Lug" found Christ, and is now a Preacher/Bouncer at the First Baptist All American Gawd Guns and Guts Holiness Church. He now blows up Abortion Clinics and kills Professors who teach evolution. He is loved throughout his community. The Flamingo burned to the ground in a suspicious fire....

  • One of the most romantic videos n songs ever, first time I ever heard of them. Stunning is all I can say really uplifting : )

  • what did she mean by SOB!!!!LOL

  • is this why you don't answer me?

  • this is by far one of the best videos ever made!

  • The video is terrible....but I admire the song like nothing else....and somtimes, I wish I could sing like this :)

  • Amazing song, but I don't quite fully understand the video. As I understand it, the song lyrics are telling a story about a guy who got into a fight with his woman, and he's basically singing how it's up to him to make the first move to fix the relationship (which to me, explains the line "don't break the silence, don't let me win") but what role does the big brute play? There aren't any lyrics for his role in this song, is there? I'm not trying to over-analyze the song, but just kinda curious.

  • I think the video itself is an is suppose to be an irony, Sort of an idealized fantasy of break up.

  • Yes, the question is whose fantasy is it-Nick or the girl's?

  • well I would say Nick, for several reasons, but primarily, the girl seems to be a hostage to her new boyfriend, the 'villain', as if she had no choice in her new boyfriend, therefore absolving her from any responsibility of her current situation, making Nick the hero for 'saving' her. He doesn't have to confront the issue that she chose to leave him and chose to be with someone else...

  • this song reminds of the good ole days. they dont make songs or music videos like this anymore.

  • Eric, nos vemos allá...

  • Eric siempre seras recordado por tu grandeza musical, infinita creatividad y unica voz. Gracias por ser un hombre tan grande y con un perfil tan bajo. suerte en tu nueva vida en el mas alla.

  • Always reminds me of George McFly vs Biff.

  • I belive in magic everytime I hear that song :-)

  • See you on the other side, Eric.

  • Thanks Eric!

Gracias Eric.

  • Eric, you`ll never walk alone. We always be with you.

  • great video. i love it

    my names nick too. hehe

  • My favourite video EVER. Eric Woolfson will be profoundly missed.

  • R.I.P. Eric Woolfson ( 1945 - 2009 )

  • E'un triste giorno....... :-(

    R.I.P. Eric .

  • RIP Eric Woofson. Thanks for your work and your songs.

  • RIP Eric Woolfson. Thank you for your songs.

  • Just heard the singer/songwriter of this, Eric Woolfson, has passed away at the age of 64.

    R.I.P.

    and thank you....

  • Oh my gosh has it been that long already since I first heard it. Still have to stop what I'm doing and listen to it.

  • Great Post of an outstanding tune.......nice job

  • This video is awesome, nearly the best I've ever seen!

  • Saw a clip from this on TV in Tokyo just now and really wanted to see the whole thing. First time since I heard and loved the song over 25 years ago. Gotta say the video really matches the song, and what's more it's really creative in spite of all those cliches. The bit about the bully hitting the moon in the eye reminded me of that 100-year old silent movie about the space rocket hitting the moon in the eye, this video version was a nice take on that. Great to finally see this!

  • This is the first iv heard or seen this in 25yrs. brought me right back to my early teens. great song and video

  • Yeap! Heard it a lot of times on the radio when I was a teen. It helped me understand the power of magic. Thanks for posting.

  • Ta piosenka nigdy nie przeminie, jest piękna, ciepła, choć ma tyyyle już lat. Uwielbiam ją, dla mnie jest ever greenem.

  • ur right

  • u calling me a troll?

  • And the trolls all say "Don't Answer Me"

  • maravillosa

  • No, una gran mentira, la "niñez no es un tesoro perdido". Es una etapa maravillosa que tiene su época. O la vivimos o no la vivimos. Pero nunca un tesoro perdido.

  • zlátý 80desátý :-)

  • Makes me want to go back to this period, WOW, what great music from these guys. The 80's ruled - I'm glad I was there...

  • nothing but n-rap and worthless noise in todays rock

  • "Be my, be my baby; Be my little baby......."

  • My God, I haven't seen this video since I was probably 7 years old. I'll be 33 in November.

  • Yeah. It's a total MTV classic with that comic book video.

  • its exellent song !!!!

  • Saw these guys live at Ottawa Bluesfest...they ROCK!

  • Can you download the full version of Turn of a Friendly Card?

  • That was a lousy comment on this video

  • opinions vary.

  • YES::: Glad to hear it again.. I was only 17.. sweet memories... Sidsel Denmark

  • Great memories. Thanks for posting. The Alan Parson's Project was one of my favorite bands, along with the Genesis and Traffic. Great music, great lyrics, great times...

  • Me too

  • Just imagine it this guy had a really brilliant voice. The song itself and video are awesome, tho. He got his start as a recording engineer for Pink Floyd.

If I was a radical feminist, I'd say she's just a bit of a helpless pawn in this whole deal.

  • It's the Wall of Sound, updated to 1984 sonic standards. It's still brilliant.

  • G R E A T !

  • Awsome video!

  • I haven't heard this song in 25yrs, didn't knw the name and had no clue. I just remember the setting and part of the animation. I just listened to a bunch of songs just to satisfy an old curiousity. It was worth it. I was 9yrs old.

  • Same thing with me. Must have been 6 or 7. I remembered some of the video, the melody and part of the chorus. Entered the words in google and found it. Love the Internet!

  • she was a bitch

  • Boy, thats a long arm he has to be able to wipe that moon's eye. LOL.

  • Simply ---MAGIC from the ANGELS !!!!!

  • If you believe in the power of magic, It's all a fantasy. So if you need to believe in someone, just pretend it's me.

  • Great song, great animation but the story seems a bit stereotypical. Big bad ugly dude mistreats innoscent girl. Tall dark handsome guy from nowhere comes and rescues her blah blah blah...

In this world there is no black and white but only shades of gray. Watch movies like "Unforgiven" and "Shawshank Redemption" and you'll see what I mean :-)

  • Beautiful song !!!

  • classic videoclip right here !

    brilliant song plus extraordinairy video,

    a masterpiece, simple as that.

  • i LOVE this video!

  • i grown up with this kind of music.....it brings back so many memories! as a child u think times last 4 ever. And now times goes bye fast as u think!!

  • I forgot about this great song.Brings back alot of memories.------The poor moon.

  • lol video

  • This song and video bring back so many memories of growing up. As a kid - I thought the video was cool and you slowly start to figure out what lyrics mean. As an adult - it always makes me think of that special someone who is no longer here....and the intro of sax solo always gives me chills...thank you so much for posting!

  • my thoughts exactly...

  • killer

  • LOL comic books!

  • Even if you've never loved someone and it didn't work out, you'd feel like you had after listening to this. It's such a well-done song, it's not one you want to gag on when you're not thinking back to that love lost, either.

  • Very sad song with so much love. Great, I love it....

  • Yeah, I think Woolfson has such a sympathetic voice too, just like on "Eye in the Sky", he's not trying too hard or milking it and it just makes the song very relatable. For a simple pop tune it's very poignant.

  • "So will you turn your back forever on what you mean to me?"

CL, if you ever see this comment, think of me again...

  • Brilliant!!! Alan Parsons is a real genius - thanks so much for sharing this. Well done!!!

  • What a classic.

  • The billboard Nick passes on his way to the diner is the cover of Ammonia Avenue, the album this song comes from.

Also, the shot of the bully landing in the moon's eye is an homage to Georges Melies' A Trip to the Moon, one of the first films ever made.

  • i used to love this video when i was a kid.. as an adult i can appreciate how damn good of a song this is. Especially missing someone dearly that this song reminds me of. :-(

  • I really love this song...it brings back memory's.

  • really a timeless classic. Thanks so much for posting it.

  • This video is so fuckin' cool :))

  • I had a man that was crazy about me and married me but i played him, and now i'm with an old broken man that tells everyone that i'm a player, i wish i could make things rite.

  • take out a life insurance policy on the old broken down guy-whack him collect the dough and go geez whats the problem

  • your username indicates the pain that is clear from your posting, it would be easy to say you deserve it, but no one deserves to be sad, you are no different. We all make mistakes - but this is a bad one - and I am with him on the pain he must have suffered - sorry :-(

  • nice video..80's was such great music...miss it

  • IM sure some rap crap rapper will try and steal this great song melody. Miss the music from 70 and 80s...Imagine, instruments were being played and music written from the soul

  • Ahh I am such a child of the 80's! I love this song, and the video is too cool!

  • Im a 80s baby and a 90's child

  • The resolve note in this song makes it one of the most beloved and haunting songs of the eighties . Although it wasn't in the movie "Real Genius" it always reminds me of it for some reason ,maybe cuz they both came out the same year . Ah! 9th grade what memories.

  • nothing comapares to the 80s.

  • I love this song..... Miss 80´s too....

  • yeah

  • Great song! I miss the 80's!

  • Count me in on that.

  • Did anyone noticed that Mick is driving after A WHOLE bottle of whisky?
