I installed (BARELY FITS) a 550 high speed/torque motor in mine and holy crap. its much faster then these but my gears took it hard. Gonna pick up some heavy duty gears for it.
I'd believe it. I've just recently bought an M-03L. I love it but it's slow. Maybe the sport tuned I have is rooted? Either way, I'll install my ball diff and new sport tuned with 20t. If it doesn't go as well as those, I'm throwing it at the wall :D
Wow those are fast, I have an M-03 Mini Cooper S. Yours is like supercharged with those batteries. I really should put some in mine. I am in Melbourne as well.
This is one "wacky" video. =p

i recently got a mini and the spur gear stripped the 2nd time out with my brushless motor...do they make metal gears for this ?
AQNY23 3 years ago
It stripped because you cant run a motor like that in a Mini. We run Sport-Tuned black cans.
rcmini 3 years ago
@AQNY23 look up part number 54277 on ebay or Tamiya site to find the heavy duty gear set. If your still interested that is.

Why get a front wheel drive model? not a rear wheel drive one?
blitz17nerr 4 years ago
Because the front wheel drives are more fun.
rcmini 4 years ago
Awesome! I have one of those also! They are alot of fun!

No special hot-ups really. I'd like to say its our skill, but maybe not...

They're pretty darn snappy for a closed endbell motor!
I'll find out how they are on the stock 540's here in a few days :p

Very nice race. I can't believe you only have sport tuned motors and a 20 tooth pinion. Any other hop ups not listed?
minijosh 5 years ago
I have a M03-M right now, is the ball diff really necessary? What about the stabilizer bars?
