ALIEN is the only movie to inteligently answer the question why they didn't leave the haunted house. Because they were in outer space and they had no where to go.
I guess this would qualify as a haunted house flick: My favorite is "Let's Scare Jessica to Death"! (which is available, incidentally, in 10 or so parts here on YouTube). Scared the piss out of me as a kid, and I finally watched it again as an adult, and it's still creepy! "It's blood, Jessica...It's blood." Hehe--Gotta love it!
i will be honest, the only movie that scares me to this day is the original amityville horror. i felt brolin was great and the film itself was a classic
"Event Horizon" is no masterpiece but I felt Eric's argument over that one scene resembling "Solaris" to be very weak. So am I supposed to not like When a Stranger Calls because I've seen Black Christmas? Or am I supposed to not enjoy Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte because it assumes the audience did not see Les Diaboliques?
What did you guys think of the Spanish horror film The Orphanage? I loved it and found it one of the best horror films of the decade. Not original by any means but effective.
That was a really great show :D Another series that was fun was "House" (I II and IV). The first one is the best by far, but I always thought it was funny how they never made three because I guess someone already owned the rights to "House III" which when I moved to Hong Kong I finally found. LoL
I don't understand the Amityville bashing. Brolin couldn't help doing a pre-Jack perfomance and I think he does a nice job. I enjoyed the movie overall, it's a 3/6'er at least IMO. 2nd part is actually a fave horror movie of mine since it's so dark, and the earphone thing and general eccentric style (especially the photography) is very catpivating.
wheres part 1???

I can't believe you guys are knocking Solyaris - a truly great film. Totally agree with pretty much everything else but wow.

Amityville more famous than Poltergeist...?

Director De Bont explained why they changed so much. They actually didn't have the rights to do a remake.....

Event Horizon did not rip off Solaris. It is a big budget remake of Galaxy of Terror (actually that got the critique of remaking Solaris first!)
It's quite a bad Corman cheapie, but when I saw it I was very young and it amused me.
