  • Matthew 16:26

    New King James Version (NKJV)

26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

  • what is going on in the scene at 2:12, with the cow?

  • @Boogung Sorry for the delayed reply. That is Antipas being roasted alive in a copper steer, AD 95.

  • Lord give us the strength of those brave men and women in these last days in the name of Jesus Christ

  • try not dying for somethng made up for once. Thanks for giving people the answers so they stop looking for them in life

  • This demonstrates one reason to oppose the death penalty. And there are many.

I'm always struck by people who claim to be Christians and insist on executing others. For example, Rev. Huckabee suggested executing Bradley Manning. No matter how much harm this young man may have done, while also doing good, his execution would be a deeply un-Christian act. Vengeance belongs to God alone.

  • When i see how our brothers and sisters gave their lives for the gospel, it makes me sick to think of how many christians today are living for self..."your best life now". God bless you brother for this sober reminder of what it means to take up our cross daily and follow Christ.

  • @ProclaimHisWord Favourited.

  • Jim Jones must be the real thing too then. More people martyred themselves and their own children for that dude than all of these saints put together. Look up jonestown

  • It was the Roman Catholics that did most of the murdering of Christians, more so than the Muslims. Tens of Millions!

  • i would have said i was a muslim

  • Evil human beings

  • Read foxes book of martyrs.

  • I have one main thought as I watch this. .

This is proof that Jesus did raise the dead. This is proof that Jesus was not JUST a preacher. This is proof of the transfiguration of Christ on the mountain.

Followers of Jesus were pulled limb from limb until the body lay in pieces. They had hot iron rods stabbed into their eyes. through it all they kept the faith. I would never go through torture/death over a lie that I helped Fabricate. 11 of the disciples were martyred,

  • You should look up "Waco branch davidians" they believed their leader was a prophet.

By your statment it is logical to assume that David Koresh (the leader) was a prophet.

After all dozens of his followers martyred themselves in the fire rather that surrender to the police. Men, Women and children included.

To me, their willingness to die for their beliefs in no way makes them true.

If the deciples were believers in Jesus then they did excactly the same thing. In both cases it proves nothing.

  • Um, no. Specifically, to paragraph 2, you can only be a prophet of Jesus Christ if you are living for & believing what Jesus Christ taught and believed. David Koresh and Waco branch davidians in no way did. "...God is light; in him there is no darkness at all."

  • @BlueGlowingLight4 That's interesting, but it wasn't their intent to prove anything. They were standing up for their right to believe what they wanted to believe.

  • @BlueGlowingLight4 Christianity is not a sect nor a reduced group of people who destroy themselves just for the sake of it all the contrary The Catholic Church was funded by God Himself not by a mortal. Christians are baptized to live the Mystery of God and to love and be loved and their humanity is divinized by The Holy Spirit. The Faith in God is a Divine gift which transforms our existence to a total fulfillment of light and inner happiness and peace....it's a mystery of Love

  • @BlueGlowingLight4

Letting yourself die rather than surrendering to police (which rather shows insanity than steadfastness) is not the same as being tortured in the most excruciating ways, while only having the cruel torture interrupted at intervals while being offered lush riches, a high place in nobility, and anything anyone could have wished for at the current time and culture.

Not to mention there have been thousands upons thousands of counts of Matyrdom for the Catholic Faith.

  • @kittysaurusRAWR This video is about Christian martyrs...it has nothing to do with Roman Catholicism, which I assume you meant by the word "Catholic."

  • nobody was ever murdered for Jesus, not ever Jesus...he was murdered for the Word of God that was in him!!!

  • @shqiptare777 the word of God tells us that he sent his son to the world that he may give us life abundant

  • Jim Jones must be the real thing too then. More people martyred themselves and their own children for that dude than all of these saints put together. Look up jonestown

  • @goonlagoon The Jim Jones followers committed suicide. The Christian martyrs referenced in this video were murdered, and many continue to be murdered in many parts of the world today.

  • @stack45ny Yep, that's the difference, and atheists were also killed during the inquisition.

  • True Christians are willing to die for their faith

  • @mumswording 11 of the original 12, but wasn't Matthias martyred as well?

  • The Brazen Bull, a torture device created for the purpose of ENTERTAINING a Selucid tyrant. The maker was actually ordered by the king to test it himself, he was nearly cooked alive inside the bull, but survived. The next day he fell to his death after the king ordered him thrown from a mountain. Such a man deserves no better fate I think.

  • Foxe's Book of Martyrs was one of the most moving books that I have ever read. We can not imagine what we will do, how we will react when troubles come. Grace will only be given at the time. Our duty is to die to the flesh today, that Christ IN us may be more abundant. That is the only way to face tomorrow, for tomorrow will come.

  • And I actually have the nerve to think I have problems. Thank you for the reminder of what Christians have suffered in the past, suffer in other countries now, and what we may go through in America before the Lord's return.

  • bless you for those words!

  • yea man...it is like, when we look at ouselves, we sometimes forget of what others had to suffer for Christ

  • Humbling stuff, these people suffered well beyond anything we have today in the West. Thanks for the post.

  • Mumpty, it is truly humbling.

Yet the suffering continues to this day. Please learn more about the daily persecution of believers throughout the world. It does not happen much in the west, but look at the Sudan, look at much of the muslim world, look recently at what took place in India (yes, democratic India). Know this. crowns await them in heaven.

Christ's command was that we would love one another. With that command comes a responsibility for us to work to help the suffering. God Bless
