Your argument is flawed. The really awesome thing here is that the 3000 is that fast considering the weight difference it gives up to the Z. The HP difference is only one part of the story.

  • There is, and never will be, a Replacement for displacement. Throw twin Turbos on the Z06 and than race again.....

  • @JustinSizzler did you not read the whole comment? appearently not. When your modding a vehicle so extensivly it attains a different class. It took that much extra parts to beat that Z06. Put the same amount of work and parts into that Z06 and you'll have a car that is much faster than that 3000. Lingenfelter proved that even mild boost to the Z06 makes for huge performance improvements. And the bottom line is, you can only cram so much air through a smaller motor

While we're on the subject of reading comprehension, try it. I think your confusion here lies in your lack of comprehension of the word "replacement". In this situation, replacement means you can have displacement OR forced induction.

  • @hondaisflatoutbest Putting two turbos on a 7 liter engine would be displacement AND forced induction, thus not replacing anything, but rather adding to it. If you want to compare displacement and forced induction, you would compare a large displacement engine to a smaller one with forced induction, which is exactly what this video is about. Your comment and my reply weren't about putting equal mods on two different cars, it was displacement vs. forced induction.

  • @JustinSizzler I'm sorry I misunderstood what you are trying to compare. I fully appreticate the VR4 and it's capabilities as a car. Forced induction does incredible things to motors when applied correctly. I was initially just referring to comparing NA motors to NA motors. Not always applicable, I understand because some cars are built from factory for forced induction. One question though. Did 3000gt VR4's come with different drivetrain options?

  • corvettes are slow for the price, and the 3kgt is an awesome platform for straight line speed, there are manyyyyy that people have gotten under 1O seconds in the quarter, its a very fair race seeing as whoever bought that corvette paid more for it. and saying the corvette driver sucked and the corvette should have won is just ignorant without having a list of mods for the 3OOOgt it could be a stock 14sec car or it could be a 9sec car.

It should easily be able to keep up with a 3000gt even if it is modded out the ass, but it can't, simply because either its the driver, or they suck. in most cases its some rich asshole who can't drive.

    Eric M. also made 609 AWHP and 651 AWTQ on his Stock long block, but with adjustable cam gears, 91 Stealth RT TT at 25psi of boost on PUMP GAS, with these turbos. Eric's car broke 400ft/lb of TQ at 3100rpm, and brakes 600ft/lb of TQ at 3900rpm! Those are Numbers a 500+ CID BIG block V8 would love to have, and this is from a 183 cid V6!

    I cant deny the badassery of VR4s, however I can tell you most 500+ CI Big blocks are pushing 700horses or more depending on their set-up. (from a drag racing perspective)

    V6 TT, V8s, Supercharged V8s, they're all awesome!

    Well 600 to the wheels has been done on a VR4 with bolt on turbos, cam gears, exhaust mods. With heads/cams can see 700 to the wheels as well and thats with bolt on turbos. TD05 can see wayy more.

  • @broskiskunk My favorite is the 1014 WHP car that comes to Ocean City with for our gatherings and hangs out in LI. Full street car. No weight reduction. That is 3800 LBS that runs 9s and gets 25 MPG. Top speed...who knows. Oh did i forget reliable. 6G blocks are amazing.

  • @firefoxx04 if your looking to spend less money get a base c5 and swap the heads and cam, then you have a car with much more hp then the zo6 and still alot cheaper. also the 3000gt awd weights 4200 lbs while the z06 weights 3200 lbs. so overall the corvette has more potential.

    stock 3s cars with AWD typically weight around 3800 with a full tank of gas, no driver. still pretty fat. Only reason i would say the vette has more potential is because of the market it sits in. 3s cars are becoming a thing of the past it seems like and its sad.

    but like most cars, it comes down to who is willing to go the extra mile. 1000awhp is a big deal for the 6g72 world but 1000whp is not much in the boosted chevy v8 world.

  • @outreachpaintball i know. i had a Vr4. for 2grand i upgraded to dr650's and easily top 600+ hp (on a mustang) at 25psi on a stock block and heads. 600 on a exhaust set up, and then 1300 for a AEM v2 ECU, and then 600 for a tune. so for 4500 dollars 600+ can be achieved

  • @mustang4sho not 400+ maybe 350. its really hard to put out good numbers through a AWD setup due to drivetrain loss. PLus to get 400 you would have to upgrade the turbos or all you get is a nive dyno queen. The stock turbos cant really hold boost that well and start to fade towards redline. VR4>supra yes andy day for that price and performance. From a dig the vr4 is king with awd drive launch, but people i know usually launch them at 4k rpms and slip the clutch.

  • @RiceKiller191 Agreed they aren't supercars. On the contrary, The transmissions are not shit. Its the T-case on the 5 speeds that cant hold 400 to the wheels reliably but that can easily be fixed. The 6 speeds have an issue with the input and output shaft bearings over 400 WHP cracking the bellhousing but this is a simple job to brace the bellhousing. With a set of forged rods and pistons, and the proper drivetrain bracing and the engine is good to make well over 800 WHP.

  • @07Z06ss Good job ass munch. A 3000GT destroyed Vettes STOCK when they first came out. It wasn't till the mid 90s when Vettes actually started to make horsepower again. Even then with only $6k you can run low 11s high 10s in a VR4 or TT.

  • @keith91z28. OBVIOUSLY have had no track time the 3000 VR4 is not heavier than a Z06 at 3700 lbs they are lighter. You can never have driven a road course if you think AWD doesnt make a difference . I have driven a CMC 3rd gen Race car for 11 yrs 148 mph @ willow Springs, Lg. Seca others AWD is incredible on a Base run I Blew away a Z 06.     It wouldn't be hard to out maneuver a vette. 4wd, 4 wheel steering, rear anti sway bar all stock. Then you reduce the weight drastically add front and rear strut bars, coilovers drop it, good tires, lightweight rims and boom vette is toast.

  • @coupe3kgt With equal drivers, you can do the same amount of work to a vette. Awd isnt as a big advantage in road racing as people think. Awd cars tend to understeer and rwd oversteers but with equal drivers a rwd car can enter and exit a turn harder. Common knowledge, thats why you dont see awd formula 1 series. the vr4 outweighs the z06 by around 700 if not more pounds. Even if you shed weight, the z06 will remain lighter. Stock for stock the vr4's power pales in comparison to an ls7 z06.

  • @coupe3kgt Look at their skid pad ratings, a vette from the 80's skidpad rating surpasses a 2nd gen vr4. I love vr4 as they are the only import I could ever want but reality is reality. A very well built vr4 would have to run a bone stock ls7 z06 to stand a chance, with equal drivers.

    You don't know vr4s then. on the 3si forum this is what I found and its not even the best a vr4 has done.

    That said, I push 1.22g sustained though the whole Carousel up until I start to accelerate in the last 1/3 of the turn. I also measured that I generate 1.44g peak though Turn 5, and 1.67g peak through the Kink.

  • @coupe3kgt Are these your vr4 or a vr4 off a forum because I can pull z06 info off of a forum for modified zo6's. Those rating obviously arent for a stock vehicle seeing as how .90 lateral g is the true rating for a stock vr4. But I digress. A vr4 with a better driver can take a z06 but equal driver for equal driver for equal mod for equal mod, the ZO6 every time. The zo6 went 7.26 at nurburgring which is the original argument. What vr4 has come close to that? And that was a factory zo6.

I do hold the vr4 on a high pedestal compared to all other "imports". I still want one. In the end, under whatever conditions that may be present, one can beat the other whether vr4 wins or zo6 wins. We just have different views on it.

    wrong supercar had a much higher slalom speed and lateral g then the zr1. his rims were 19x13 I believe and had it dropped with coilovers and swaybars among other things.
