In spite of what they say on the, 7C6, 7B6, 7A8, etc., those types of Loctals actually have 6.3 volt filaments like a typical RCA metal octal tube. What is not typical is unlike an RCA 6.3 volt octal tube many loctals have 150 ma filaments rather then 300 ma filaments. Given that lower current consumtion it's no wonder that they were so popular for use in car radios, in fact someone told me that the lock in base was designed for use in car radios.
