  • agreed , you are comparing different classes of glass . pentax 55-300 is a budget tele lens , but you are comparing it with a internal focus , VR lens which is significantly more expensive .

and there are a lot of motion blurs in your pentax test shot which i think is obvious to see even for a beginner . Take for the 200mm shots for example , view it in 100% and its obvious that the motion blur is visible

  • @kjie1988 another one, who doesn't read description...The exposure (read exposure time) was the same, that means Pentax senzor stabilization SUCKS.

  • @player1CR And so i thought you said you are only comparing glasses? if you like to compare Image Stabilizer too please use a better body since K5 offer much more better SR than K-x , K-x is just an entry level body . And on the side notes, you pay a lot more for the VR , so thats definitely not an apple with apple comparison , if you like to do a comparison next time , maybe 1st thing is to check the price 1st .

  • @kjie1988 And you still have not read the description...or you are just simple-minded? The Nikkor 55-300 VR costs the same as Pentax 55-300 DA and it's also better, so what will be your next excuse for poor Pentax lens? :)

  • @player1CR

    Please check before you talk

    Pentax 55-300 only cost USD429 , and after promotion USD350 at B&H

    Nikkor 70-300 cost USD529

You are making yourself look stupid , and stop your futile personal attack . look whos the simple minded? gosh

  • @kjie1988 "You are making yourself look stupid" You are talking about yourself, right? Because Nikkor 55-300 VR costs at B&H 396.95$ (with UV and CP Tiffen filters!!!) and Pentax 55-300 DA costs 429.95$. Muahaha :D

  • What a stupid test... Pentax K-x vs Nikon D300s? Use K-x and d3000!

  • @bartiha What a stupid comment, there is no D300s. Besides it's a comparison of lenses, not cameras, LOL.

  • Seems like most of the shots are moved (did you use a tripod?). If so - what's the point of the whole "test"?

  • @Apachers79 Read the description before you post a comment, please.

  • @player1CR I did. And it doesn't answer my question.

I repeat: such comparison is worthless if the shots are moved (see for example 2:14).

  • @Apachers79 The description is the answer to your second question. The first one is funny, because such a small difference absolutely doesn't matter, when only center of the frame is compared. Btw, 2:14 compares AF speed/noise only.

  • You didn't compare lenses, you compared a Pentax kit to a Nikon kit. the only way to compare the lenses is to by using the same imaging device.

You also seem to have compared kits in two different classes. Unsure what Nikon body that is, but that's the BUDGET version of the Pentax 55-300.

  • nikon the best !!!!!!!!!

  • I am Sorry Now,I own both NIKKOR Lenses VR-II, & Hologram ED XLT SMC( Super-Multi-Coated Deep Green-Violet PENTAX Apochromatic ED PENTAX Lenses).Expensive are the PENTAX ED SMC Lenses but they have the Edge Flat Field SMC Apochromatic ED NO Aberations Lens PENTAX Exquisite SUPREME Lenses. All my Nikon Lenses VR-II Atthough also NO Colour Aberations, they the NIKON VR-II lenses did have"Very Slight Spherical Aberations at the very Edge of the Field, now this is Hyper-Critical".But PENTAX ED SUPREME!

  • either you fail at focusing or your getting serious motion blur. Either way there's definitely user error..... Thats giving you the benefit of the doubt that your not purposely skewing the results to forward your personal gear. Im not a huge fan of the pentax 55-300mm but I do own one (got it for very cheap) and I know for a fact its significantly sharper. I also agree that this is a apples to oranges comparison.

  • these are two totally different lenses. Internal focusing versus extending. Silent "hsm-like' focussing and screw driven. Compact versus large. The Nikkor is about 30% more expensive then the Pentax as well, so it actually should've won!

Why not compare it with the nikkor 55-300?

  • @jordy118 Nope, these are not different lenses. Both are standard tele-zoom lenses only for different mounts. This is showcase what you pay for when you choose Nikon cameras and this lens.

I don't own 55-300, if you buy me one, I'll do the same comparison. But it won't be easy competitor for this Pentax lens anyway :)
