lesbians have higher rates of :
breast cancer, depressive illness and anxiety, and alcohol and smoking related illness, than their non-lesbian sisters.
in addition, they are less likely to engage in health preventive measures such as pap smears and routine health checks.
their 'other' status in health care and research confers on them/us, an additional higher risk of morbidity and mortality.
