One interesting thing I read about his recordings was at one point he had two orchestras going in separate studios,not even in the same building! He did this in an attempt to get a true separation of left and right sounds. The amount of work just to do that was immense in itself,and I have to wonder how an artist could get away with that with a record company now.

I discovered Esquivel earlier this year. WOW! I need to get some of his music on cd & get the full effect on my headphones. I can only imagne what it was like to hear it back in the 50's etc.
maybe he was a musical genius. but to me this just sounds like kitschy late fifties early sixties easy listening music. i DIG it,but..................genius? (ok. i'm not wearing headphones. maybe i'm not equipped to make a judgement.)
