Signature Schenk. He simply owns this. Love the familial resemblance to his other instros. So tasteful, so clean, and yet it shreds in all the right places. Axe, you've done it again!
some idiot was trying to tell me that Iron Maidens version of 'Doctor Doctor'...is better than UFO'S 'Strangers in the Night'...w/Schenker...D.Murray is NOT BETTER THAN M.Schenker....on his worst day!!!!
that's laughable, actually, since the Maiden version is a truly faithful cover with almost no variation other than vocals. Still, i like Murray, especially on Maiden's instrumentals like Ides of March, but compared to Mikey? C'mon. Maiden needed two guitars to do what Schenker does with one. Plus Steve Harris stole Pete Way's trousers, mate, bloody 'ell!
a very technical track from The Schenk, with his signature tone and vibrato. Yngwie wishes he could play like this! LOL. always loved Schenker's instrumentals...
@bloobear1: you might be right that Yngwie is more "technical." however, he doesnt play with a fraction of the feeling that Mikey does. ultimately that's what i love about the Schenk is that he's technical enough but not overly-so. in other words, he knows when to play with feeling and when to shred.
@TheEarnold I think you'll find if you read my previous blog that I typed 'certainly is far more melodic and Schenkers playing is just technical enough.'?
Thanks for posting. I had lost touch what Michael Schenker was doing for years and this is great. He was a big influence on my guitar playing. Started listening to guys such as Vinnie Moore but guess what .... Micheal influenced them too. Great vibrato and tone! I think he's actually improved
I have a few guitar songs I really really love. Those are Øystein Sunde - Fenderslåtten, Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover, Tommy Emmannuel - Who Dares Wins, and Open Gate. I'm not sure but I belive Open Gate is my favorite...........It's just something with the whole consept I just freaking love.
I love Adventures of Imagination, it´s simply a great album. Michael´s at his peak, tight solos, very melodic (as always), and Open Gate, along with At the End of the Day, is the most melodic song in the album... Maybe that´s why you love it so much... Well, at least that´s why I love it!
